Things went pretty good.
Crocheting didn't go as well as I had hoped, DH had national geographic or some such about strange animal friends and they didn't do well at focusing. Though I may have gotten the concept through to the eldest that the hook needed to be in the right direction when she tried to pull it back through her loops. We'll see next time we try it. DH said guess he should make sure it was a news channel next time.
Now it's catch up time on house, laundry and packing to do. DH told them we would probably come get them on Thursday... Eldest said that's only four days! (big smile on her face, baby sis excited) Poppa and grandma just sort of went

Thanks Bobbi, it was really good to get a line back in the water, just so relaxing.Hi honey I'm home! The girls have gone home, now time to pack for the reunion next weekend. This is the first year I let them help pick out clothes and toys to go... They are growing up way too fast.

A 12 hour drive with kids and we only do it once a year. His mom turned 90 in April and has been in the hospital twice this year. Normally, being out of work we would probably opt not to go but...
We haven't decided yet exactly how many days we will stay. On a normal year with water to check and cows to keep track of we would leave Friday afternoon and come home Monday afternoon but I don't know this year. DH is having problems making up his mind, I think he should spend a week but what do I know...

Grace wanted to pay attention but the darn animals were just too cute!
She is 8 and tends to try to force it so just having her attention long enough to show her the difference in ease with the hook pointed right was a good thing for her. Bella was getting tired, I should have done it earlier in the day for her. Her hands are so tiny at 5 that I have to hold the "needle" and help guide the hook. That's ok though, she understands where to put it and what the goal is so it is a good start.

Love them with all my heart but by the end of a trip locked in the car with 2 little girls this old woman will be ready for a rubber room and a long sleeve jacket with the buckles in the back. On top of which DH really doesn't like to travel at all... Feel free to send all the prayers for serenity up that you want to!

I sure enjoyed all the wildlife we saw this weekend. Besides the normal critters (common birds of the area, and squirrels)
I saw a family of whitetail deer while walking Rita on the property across from ours. A buck, doe, and two twin fawns. Grey herons, a beaver, a watersnake, snapping turtles, tadpoles, a bald eagle, and several red headed woodpeckers. Common everyday wildlife that I was used to seeing on a daily basis. I didn't see the owls, but it was nice to hear them again each night.

Pretty much a normal weekend lately. The girls were pretty good this time though so that was a help. Poppa and I are pretty much worn out now though!
One of the "perks" of age...Dale, We take the girls for the reunion because it is the only time his mom gets to see them. She doesn't travel anymore and Dave and Ang are always "too busy" to go. Dave is one of those if he doesn't think about it it won't happen when it comes to mortality.
They have good memories of her and the visit though. The local park is a Wizard of Oz park with the playground a wooden castle and all of that. The mayor of munchkin land and his wife were from there. The first year we took them, Grace told her mom she wanted to go to the park. Ang took her to the park a block from the house... Grace was very upset. She said, no! Great Grandma's park, it is more fun!
