 What's the matter hon? :?:

What isn't the matter?!?? Okay.... so I start out with cartomizers, and they work great! for a while. then it seems like I just can't keep from missing some molecule of space filling them and it is messy....then I am introduced to ce4 clearo's,which is YAY ....for a while. After a month, I discover that when I put them in my purse, they tip over. And when they tip over, they get liquid in the air shaft......equals leaking, fluid in the mouth, etc...etc... So then I buy a protank. And it is obnoxiously big on my little ego. Everyone laughs and says it looks like a crack pipe. So I try not to use it in public, and in the mean time I order some eVods. Yay! They work Great!!!!........for a while. *grrrr*. Soo.....I order lots of no name replacement heads, and some work, some don't. I clean them like a good girl, but after such a short time, it seems they fail no matter what I do...that is if they work at all! Add that to the face that for some crazy reason, I can't just switch an evod from one bat to another, because when I take it off, the head loosens somehow, then all of a sudden I am leaking into the new battery! Aaaargh!!! And some of my heads work on some of the evods some of the time. Some have short posts, some have long ones, some are skinnier, some are fatter, some fit, and some only seem to fit. None of them are the 1.8 ohms I ordered....heck, some of them are reading 4~!!! It is enough to drive a girl batty!!!! So then....I order some pretty protank mini's, and some "name brand" Kangerteck heads (lots....like 5 five packs) and wait. So they come in, and I am in vaping heaven, again. ....for a while. For some explicable reason, I am burning my coil heads left and right. Try as I might.... fill the tank, let it sit there for five forevers, take a couple of "test" (no power) draws, and start vaping. Mid way through my vape session, It all starts tasting burnt.

I have even tried a dripping atty. Which is great. Except that it sounds all gurgly until I get the semi dry hit that says I need to add more.

Bah.

I think I will eat a swiss roll and put some laundry away.

He is headed for town now with the washer... repairman says for it to just keep filling even when it is turned off is one of the most common problems of these new ones... nice, there is water everywhere back there again today... had it all cleaned up til we tried to move it.......

sounds like you aren't feeling all that well. Sorry to hear about the visual migraine again today. :( and Chim's got a cold... :(

Awwwh. I'm sorry you're having a rough time my dear. The trial & errors of vaping can be a total PITA sometimes! I think Lori, Balwin & Dale all use something similar to you so unfortunately I'm not much help. But I feel your pain...got to work yesterday & all 3 of my cartotanks were dead! I could still vape but they tasted horrible! I'd definetly stay away from the ce4's. They hate being tipped over = gurgle gurgle leak leak! I hated those things!

Hope you get some relief soon!

Oh hon! I'm so sorry ... I'm kind of stupid when it comes to vape stuff ... it either works or it doesn't
The only thing that comes to my mind at the moment is whether or not your juice is "dark", that might cause it but I believe I saw you say somewhere that they were not?
Also, from my own experience I'm beginning to believe the heads just don't last as long as we think they should
Afraid that's all I got, maybe someone else smarter will chime in later :)

Thank you sweetie. I just always get emotional, today was no different.

For those who do not know, my father is in the nursing home. He has Alzheimer's. He's been there for 6 and a half years. :(
He can still walk with assistance, he can sometimes eat on his own, other times he needs to be fed.
He ate his cake today on his own, scraped the extra icing from the plate with his fork, just like we do. Drank his coffee, just like anyone else, then just when I was thinking how nice and "normal" this was going, he picked up the paper plate and tried to take a bite out of it too.
He's still one of the "good" ones, on the wing. However, he really doesn't talk much. When he does, it's what they call "vegetable soup", basically gibberish. He still uses hand motions, facial expressions, and posturing when he is talking, so in his own way, he is till holding a conversation. He has no idea who I am, I think that I'm a familiar face to him, but he can't determine how/why he knows me. He still smiles this great big smile when I tell him goodbye, and that I love him, so I just pretend that he knows me. ;) (Even though he hasn't for over 8 years now.) I think he really enjoys the interaction, and seems to enjoy having someone to visit with.
    So that's still comforting.

Sorry you & Dale aren't feeling good today!! Hope the meds help!!!

AND....I LOVE YOUR NEW MOD!!! LOOKS AWESOME!!

    Yea!!! Welcome to VAPING!!
    Just kidding.

Okay, I've been vaping for a year, my last stinkie was Sept 10th, 2012. Here is what I have found works best for me.
Your Protank and Evod tank, are basically the same technology, the protank is glass so you can use the juices that frost or break the plastic ones. (if you know all this already, just humor me....:D) If you plan to continue to use the evod heads, you may want to learn to wrap coils. It's a pain in the rear, but my coils weren't lasting longer than a day, even rinsing/soaking, etc. didn't help much to extend their life. I like that fresh "new" taste. ;) From what I understand, the higher the sugar content of your juice, the faster it gunks up and kills the coil. When I say "kills" the coil, I just mean it gets gunked up and tastes like DOO DOO!!! It technically still works. ;)

I had the very best luck with purchased replacement evod head coils from Sun-Vapers. Kanger brand....no generic. They're just better....don't care how much the others will save you.
Kanger Protank eVod atomizer heads in 1.8 2.2 and 2.5 ohm for $5.79Sun-Vapers.com

For cartos, Ikenvape. Period, end of story. I keep about 4 or 5 going at one time. I fill them and keep them in a Rx bottle with 1/2 of a cottonball in the bottom of the bottle to catch any drips. I rotate through those, then refill all at one time. I probably don't vape the carto as long as I could, but I don't want to fry them. Ikenvape cartos are awesome, and they will last longer than what you will probably be comfortable using them. I finally pitched a group that I know I'd used for 5 weeks.....just cuz it was grossing me out to think about how long I'd been using them.
I even tried cleaning them once, and it did work, and they still worked pretty good, but I still couldn't get past it being gross to still be using them after 5 weeks. Just me.

If you decide to jump in and rebuild coils, let me know, I'll be happy to scrounge up some links for you, and tell you about supplies.
They can be made for a FRACTION of what the replacement coils cost, BUT...it takes awhile to sit and wrap them. (But, others may be faster at it than I am too.)

.......whew........that' my story and I'm sticking to it. If there is newer technology, or better advice than above, go with it. I haven't been outside the Lurker thread here on ECF for months. If I venture out, I end up with the wantsies! :p So, I just stay here.

Well, I'm just happy to hear from you at all and that the visit with Dad went fairly well all things considered :)
It did, and I mean, as much as I'm tired of the following saying....It is what it is.
Hard to go see him like that, but he's still my dad, and I have to.
It's just hard, especially with mom gone, and hard at the holidays. Sometimes losing a loved one, as hard as THAT is, sometimes, it can be harder not to lose them and have to watch the downhill march.

But, it's okay. It's all part of living, and we'll get through it. No one promised it (life) would be easy all the time.

    Back in a bit.....

Hi Lori, I'm a new lurker and as you took the time to give any of us new guys a glimpse in to your life and cause I'm generally a bubbling bucket of empathy and emotion, thought I should say how sorry I am to hear about your dad and alzheimers. I can't imagine how difficult it must be sometimes but at least today was a good day and a smile at an I love you sounds like it was heard and understood. So here's to your dad and more of the better days!

I think I will eat a swiss roll and put some laundry away.

Chapel, Oh my... I will try to give you what little help I can but I don't know what I really know that is a 100% cure...

The dry hits... if you can vape it for a while and then when you vape several draws in a row and it gives a dry hit it may be that you need to remove a flavor wick. On the evod, protank, most rebuildable bottom coil clearos you can remove the center post by pulling up on it (sometimes this takes some pretty good pulling) there will be a few pieces of wick lying on top of the coil, remove one and reinsert the post. This will make the hit somewhat airy and make the juice have a bit easier time getting to the coil.

As for the bottom coils loosening, all I can say is when I add juice, I make sure the coil is tight. Some seem to fit nicely but trying to keep track of which one is good where... the longer post is the protank, the shorter is the evod, the T3s also uses an evod type coil. As time has gone on, they have made the claim that these are all interchangeable... yeah, some are thick, some thin... just make sure it screws in firmly and fits in the inner tube of the clearo is about all I can say there. I'm sorry I wish there was a magic I could offer you for that. It seems each company I order from they are a little different. I try to keep 6 people up and running other than myself so I pretty much just mix and match as I go and hope for a solid fit.

Leaking in the purse or pocket, hubby says they do sometimes from the airflow holes around the base of the different types of clearos. He uses evod, T3s and those styles of bottom coil clearos. We haven't found a solution for this. When possible we use a cup in the car that keeps them upright, something like that in the house, or he has them in his shirt pocket. If you find a solution to that, let me know cuz the shirt pockets are eventually going to get spotted otherwise.

I haven't had problems with my protanks. I have the old original ones and have had the same 6 since they first came out. I haven't had problems with them leaking or the coils loosening. Other than removing a wick here and there that is basically what I do with/for them. I also use carto-tanks and really like them. I haven't had problems with them leaking but all of mine have come from IBTanked and are very well fitting. I also use their cartridges that are smoke tech brand in them. I can't speak to any other brands of tank so can't help you there.

Top feeders, we only have a couple of them between all of us. They are vivi-nova and hubby only uses his in the house though he does like the flavor they give. They were purchased because they were metal tanks on sale and he had a couple juices he wanted them for. All I ever do for that is screw in a new top coil so don't really know anything there.

One of the best places I know for answers to vaping questions is http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/298835-older-folks-vaping.html and ask for Iffy to answer a question. There are several very intelligent people who are good at trouble shooting anything vape.

Sorry you are having so much trouble, wish I could be of more help! If Rat2chat2 was here, she knows a lot and might be able to answer a lot better than I.

Bless all of you! This is really the most awesome group of peeps!

Chim....God Bless You. God sees what you are doing with and for your dad.

Dale- yes, my juices do tend to be darker, because I lean towards chocolates, nuts....sweeter flavors. I also tend to stay as close to 100vg as possible, which does not help with hardware longevity.

Lori- believe it or not, I did want to start building my own coils!! In fact, I did build one this afternoon (took an hour and four tries) and it was exciting and stuff! It was 2.5, which was decent for a first try... Except then I got on here and read that I could Not use my cotton kitchen butcher's twine (Farber ware) which I had boiled twice, thank you very much...because some crabby person said it would burn and you might as well go back to smoking rather than making vapers look bad by setting ones self on fire..... *sigh*
But I do need some guidance on the whole thing, as I would def like to move away from silica.

Chapel, Lori uses 100% VG also and say's that her heads only last one day (sweet juices also) so you may just be stuck with that unless you find some clear juice's you like ... sorry :(

Love and huge hugs Lori. I lost my dad to alzheimers years before I lost my dad to alzheirmers. I cannot think of a more cruel disease for the family to live through. I feel your pain and my prayers have been with you all day since you said where you were going. If you need someone to listen feel free to contact me about it anytime. I had the misfortune of being the only one who would go see him for the last few years because it "hurt" everyone else too much to see him "like this." I was always daddy's girl and on the best days it is a draining and painful thing to do. God bless you, know my heart is with you.
