HAPPY WEEKEND to all from the Mrs. and myself!
As always the posts, pictures and inspirational prose and songs make the world brighter for all who will allow them to!
Had someone told me in January of 2011 that I would be able to kick my tobacco habit of 40 plus years, the best I could have offered was "I hope you are correct"... A year and 9 months later, not only has that come to pass but finding a new hobby/passion as well.
Oh how I love to spend time in this virtual place! As important to my health as the tobacco riddance was, the thing most welcomed and cherished is the people! Caring, sincere people who take time from their day to offer encouragement and inspiration to another human being.
It is
SO easy if you take the time to read or watch the latest news, no matter where in the world you call home, to see the worst that mankind can do to seemingly hasten our own self-destruction. But that is what "sells" I suppose. One can spend 30 minutes watching/reading that or the same 30 minutes seeing the inherent goodness of human beings. I choose the latter!
And yes, it would be so easy to say that such a choice is to be an ostrich and stick ones head in the sand by doing this but that is simply not true! I agree we cannot allow ourselves to become ignorant, dull or complacent about the realities of the world in which we live but that doesn't mean we have to choose to spend voluntary time rolling in the mud of the worst of humanity.
I likewise could have chosen to eat bark from a tree with a side of weeds, all washed down with dirty ditch water for breakfast. But I
chose to enjoy a couple of poached eggs (yes, I know about dairy in my condition so sue me!

), lightly buttered toast with home-made grape jam washed down with a couple of cups of the best coffee in Florida!
YES! It is a silly analogy BUT it is oh so true. Life deals enough bumps without
choosing to spend your time in the mire. ENJOY both the time and the company that pleases you. We wont get anything more from life than we put into it and that includes choosing to be happy or contented when we are able to do so!
I do apologize for the sermonette but when it's my choice, I prefer the toast and coffee (contented appreciation) over weeds and ditch water (gloom and despair). I hope you will do so as well. Have a great Sunday all!
