Mike just before I met him.

I am doing fine most of the time. The oddest things keep setting me off. Today I was at social security..My daughter handled most of it but when they asked my SS# I could only remember his..that did it, I was a puddle. I had to search my papers to find mine. I did better when we were at the funeral home to arrange for his cremation. Odd right?
I am sleeping a lot but when I wake up, I panic. The days drag on and on.
My daughter and grands are moving in with me. That will start next week. Then we will start the process of turning the house over to her and getting a loan to build my MIL's apartment on to the back of this house. I don't want to deal with a house or any of the worry that it entails..I just want to be able to pick up and go when I want to.
I have lots to keep me busy for the time being..the V.A. and the A.F. come to mind. Then moving my stuff out except for the bedroom and office stuff. It will be harder to deal with Mike's things.

MK, it sounds like you're doing better than would be expected! So much of what you describe reminds me of what I went through when we lost our son. It's really hard to know what will set you off. I'm so happy you have your daughter and the kids moving in. That MIL apartment sounds like a fantastic idea.

I can't even begin to imagine what this must be like for you. (((((MK)))))

This is not a new idea Keysy..Both Mike and I wanted that..separate but nearby. In Ca. it would have been called a casita..a tiny house. If I had been first to go Mike would have wanted it for himself. My Apt.will be one long room on one side with a small galley kitchen, bath and walk-in closet on the other. I will scan a picture of the plan to show you guys. It will have a connecting door to the family room and a french door to the outside. I drew this up a while back and had some friends who are architects to check it out. They will need to tweek it a bit for the hot water and a c placement. If in the future Laura wants to move, my son will get the house quick claimed to his name and I will need to decide if I want to go with Laura or stay.
It works for my daughter, she wanted to be near me and for my younger G'son, she works long hours, now he will have company and supervision (or at least I will). If I want to visit with family or friends out of state..I don't have to worry about my place. Thank Goodness for family.

((((MK)))) Just take your time getting stuff done, don't wear yourself out doing it!! The MIL apartment sounds kind of cool. Nice that you will still be able to have your own space.

I think the SS office thing is typical and will probably happen again somewhere else. But that's okay.....dealing with all of that is very difficult.

I know the healing will take a long time, I am just in the first stages. I can only accept what is and deal with what will be. I just loved my life as it was with Mike. I miss getting in his warm bed in the morning while he is sitting in his chair watching movies or shows and planning our day. I miss the bickering and the jokes.

What a handsome husband, and what beautiful memories you have of your life together MK. I am so glad that your daughter and grandsons will be close. It will be a big help for her as well as you. It has to give some peace that you and Mike planned for this point in time. I wish I was close to give you a real life hug, but a cyberspace one will have to surrfice. May you continue to be granted strength.

Kind of small..sorry I can't figure out how to enlarge it. As you can see the bed at one end the oversize chair the desk and then the 2 top table..I hope with a drop leaf. behind the chair and desk is my bookcase and a bookcase for office supplies. A corner hutch for my blue willow. From the top on the other side is a walkin closet as tiny hall connecting the two houses and my bathroom. The kitchen is a galley style. My little porch is just for sitting with the dog. To the left you can see the florida room which connects tot he rest of the house.
