Its really nothing special. I mix Cap grape, HS grape and TFA grape all at 5% each as a 15% standalone blend. I build 5% standalone mix of HS desert ship or HS highway. Blend them together at 60% Grape and 40% HS, let sit a week or two. I blend my cola the same way but with a mix of HS red and blue cola. The Hangsen tobacs make the grape pop compared to grape standalones.
I wick the Merlin the same way I wick my kayfuns and subtanks. Rayon is wicking of choice, I wet the wick then make it into a fan by combing it over a utility knife blade, cut the side points off so they don't get into the orings or in the way. Make a waterfall looking putting the wick onto the bottom of the deck. Put on the chimney then I compact the wick together some with tweezers and with a dental pick I push the wick against the chimney wall from inside making sure its totally covering the holes.
I have never cut and tucked dry wicking into the atty. you have no control on where its going but wetting the wick and straightening all the fibers first makes it much easier and precise to block the holes with wicking so it doesn't leak. I can say that my subtank builds wicked this way have never leaked.
Nowadays I normally use 4mm SS coil or Notch coil, thus quite an amount of cotton is required. The below is how I prepare my cotton:
I then roll the thin piece of cotton into a cotton rode.
