Is there a way to wrap spaced coils with a coil master? My free style sucks. o_O
Have you tried using a small screw? That could give you a perfect spaced coil. Try winding the wire on a screw the size you want and just unscrew the coil from the screw. Should be easy to do.

All you have to do is wrap it on your coilmaster then insert fingernails on both ends of coils & gently pull then use the other end of your cool master to gently push in. Adjust spaces with your nail or tweezers. Watch Daniel from djlsbs vapes on YouTube linked above usually he builds coils & shows it. Didn't watch above vid yet, but definitely look him up on YouTube.

DJLSB did a review on this. He's one of the better reviewers out there and I do value his opinion...couldn't find a con for this thing other than maybe its not as good with a dual coil setup. I need this...

Remember the Merlin was the answer for those that did not want to use duals like in the Boreas. This was also the answer to being able to satisfy those that found the Boreas a bit too " high performance" , like me.

Yep, I was quoting the reviewer with the con. Main reason why I'm getting this is bc its most ideal for single coil...huge monsterous single coils.

:) Me too. I am more than happy with a single boring piece of 28g wire micro coiled and attached.

I like that it is so versatile. One of the few that can satisfy big cloud fans and flavor fans. It can actually be dialed down with the use of the air reducer and closing off of the AFC ring and perform outstanding without the usual pitfalls of trying to dial down high performance atties; taste is not sacrificed, and none of the usual whistling when trying to close off the AFC.

Are you using spaced or contact micro-coils? With micro (1.5-1.9mm ID) I tend to go with spaced as contact coils overheat with the small amount of wick/juice thermal mass.

I do as close contact as I can, If you look at them thru magnifying glass, you can see that they are not quite 100% contact, more like micro spaced, my hands suck.

I build my resistance at about .80 because I use mechs mostly. If I do use something on reg , its at 12W.

I use 316L 28g Stainless wire. It results in a very flavorful experience, with more than enough clouds for me. I filled the Merlin about 12 times , using my light DIY fruity/ minty liquids.

Well i was saving up for the KFV5 but after reading this thread just ordered one from subtank supply. My first ever RTA!
I think these will be better than the kayfuns. The KF5 Is a lot taller than the Merlin too. Everything looks to be so much better. I have 2 coming on Tuesday...

How do you build your ss coils, Anavidfan? I'm a strictly kanthal, MTL, 2.5 ID, 1.4-1.6Ω person, but I'm curious about ss.

I haven't given up on the K5 yet, still waiting for the "fix" for MTL people. SM is aware of the problem and there's talk about an insert (Merlin-style ;)) or even a separate MTL Base for the K5. I really love the 2.2mm airport (K4, Kmv3)--it's my favorite MTL setup. I'm a little concerned that the Merlin may be just a bit too airy for me, even with the insert.

Let me know how the Merlin compares to the Kmv3 (K4), would you? Airflow and flavor are really important to me.

I am in exactly the same boat Katya.Would be really interested in trying stainless build around 1.5 ohm. Any tips would be really helpful.

SS has a bit different resistance than Kanthal, which allows me to be able to add more wraps around a 2.5 diameter screwdriver. I cant really taste a difference, but I do like that it heats up a bit faster and doesnt get the rusty looking oxidation that the kanthal gets depending on liquids. Also the SS is softer, so its easier for me to work with with my bad hands.
