SS has a bit different resistance than Kanthal, which allows me to be able to add more wraps around a 2.5 diameter screwdriver. I cant really taste a difference, but I do like that it heats up a bit faster and doesnt get the rusty looking oxidation that the kanthal gets depending on liquids. Also the SS is softer, so its easier for me to work with with my bad hands.

So how many wraps and what resistance are your coils?

Also, is it true that ss coils can be used in power mode? Or only in TC SS mode.

Sorry for all the questions...

Let me know how the Merlin compares to the Kmv3 (K4), would you? Airflow and flavor are really important to me.
I get my mail between 10 and 11am on Tuesday and I will be vaping them soon after and let you know how they are...

No problems, 8 or 9 wraps comes out ( for me ) .80 ish. I dont know about those TC or power modes, honestly dont know what that is. Like I say, use mostly mechs and my regulated are dinosaurs; Kainos 60watt Yihi chip and Provari 2.5 and P3 stealth.

And no problems with ProVari 2.5 at .8Ω? I never put anything lower than 1.2Ω on mine.

Thank you all for the reviews. Mine would have been delivered Monday. But due to the holiday, Tuesday they will be waiting on me when I get home from work. I fell back in love with single coil configurations. I have a Kayfun, Lemo, Lemo 2, Bachelor, and a Bachelor Nano. For me, the Bachelor is not only the easiest to wick, but it's full of flavor. It's the tank that brought me back to single coil rta's. I Can't wait to see how the Merlin stacks up.

Is it really that hard to unscrew the tank from the mod otherwise?? I use alot of side-by-side mods where the tank sits reccessed in the mod. So can't really unscrew them by gripping the bottom. Would be a shame if I can't use mine (2 enroute) in these mods.

All I use is the xvostick and have had no problems. Could be because the lack of sprung loaded pin reduces the amount of friction at the 510.

I haven't given up on the K5 yet, still waiting for the "fix" for MTL people. SM is aware of the problem and there's talk about an insert (Merlin-style ;)) or even a separate MTL Base for the K5. I really love the 2.2mm airport (K4, Kmv3)--it's my favorite MTL setup. I'm a little concerned that the Merlin may be just a bit too airy for me, even with the insert.

Ditto.... :glug:

So much great feedback! ordered one this morning, finally... it would seem not many are using the notch coil?
I thought the notch coil was gimmicky when I saw them.
When I found one in the box I threw it on out of curiosity.
Ramp up time is instantaneous.
Filled that 4.8mm coil up w/Native Wicks Platinum and stuffed it into the holes w/no thinning.
Excellent vape in my opinion. On regular power or TC. Ordered 10 more within 30 minutes.

True. Most people who vape rebuildable tanks like to... rebuild. lol
Notch coils are great for people who have difficulty wrapping their own coils. The rest of us enjoy making our own coils and experimenting with different builds. It's one one the best things about having a tank with velocity posts and room to fit everything from a 2.5mm 28g standard coil to a huge 4mm fused Clapton coil. I'll try out the notch, but it's just one out of many options.
