The merlin has replaced my serpent mini for that very reason. I find the flavor to be just as good and the capacity of the merlin wins. No more wrapping left handed coils and choice of smaller gauge wire is another plus.

Thanks for making me spend more money!

It's a good tank but I can't recommend it for the long haul. Everyone seems to be going to a press fitted deck. I don't like the fact that I can't thoroughly maintenance it.

Agreed, I guess at these price points, they look to cut corners in the manufacturing stage. It's not close to my new Kayfun v5 in overall build, but it's got a much better range of airflow options. It's so open for me, my next rebuild, I'm going to try the choke insert.

Quick questions for you guys ...what's the best size diameter size coil are you guys building(2.5 3.0 3.5 ) inner diameter for flavor? And are you guys using the airhole reducer ....my Merlin seems to airy if that sounds crazy? Adjusting the air flow seems to do nothing unless I shut it completely....thanks

3.0 ID is working best for me. I'm not using the reducer because it's too airy for MTL. I normally direct inhale without the reducer and the airflow adjustment works just fine.

I've been using 4mm ID coils in both of mine now, but I started with 3.5mm coils. Both sizes seemed every bit as good flavor wise. The deck & juice ports seem easier to wick well if you use a fair bit of cotton (or rayon). Using a large coil makes it a breeze to wick without having to stuff cotton into the coil and the flavor is excellent.

Honestly, it depends on your preferred airflow. If you like to vape with the restrictor I'd start with a 3-3.5mm coil.

3-3.5mm. Works well. I don't like the notch coils.
I wasn't sold on the notch coil at first but it's not too bad. I did, however, rewick it last night after about 2 weeks of daily use and it was the dirtiest coil I have ever had to clean. IT was completely black when I pulled the deck from my Merlin and had the most build up I have seen on a coil to date. When I dry burned it briefly, it looked like one of those snake firecrackers as the buildup sizzled off. It cleaned up well, though, and tastes great today:) Still in love with the Merlin. Great tank IMO.

Awesomeness! I used to love those little black ash snakes. That took me back brother!
Currently running a 28g wrapped in .4 ribbon. All Nichrome 80.

I was at a highschool graduation party for my fiance's sister over the weekend and they had a bunch of fireworks. Out of all the mortars and bottlerockets they had, the kids there were mesmerized by those little black ash snakes and had never seen them before. Guess they never go out of style.

I am so excited to burn up this notch coil and start playing with different builds. The fact that it can really shine with a single coil will make for some fun coil attempts. I'll probably start with a braided kanthal coil since I have some left over... constantly begging me for electricity:)
