Last night I decided to try the mesh instead Kanthal o Nicrhome inside my Odysseus:

1.5mm width X 25mm - 30mm large 400 flat mesh, cotton yarn instead silica (as it was an experiment, I didn't want to waste my silica wick).

Was very easy to make this configuration (joining the NR with the mesh), wrapping the mesh around wick.

Result: 1.3ohms, I normally vape with a single 3.7 volts (4.20v) battery.

It works very good, 2 Odysseus (short mode) tanks have been passed through this setup and still working fine. As Imeo said, it seems the flavor is sweeter.

hit penelope with your mesh wire at 6 volts with a GGTS Dom and you will see incredible smoke without burn taste at all

I'm sure it would, Imeo! Try that on a Provari and you'll see nothing but errors. If you'd like to send me a GGTS for "testing" here's my address:

:)

Just got home from a ridiculously long day at work so ill try bumping up the volts in a bit, as Manos suggests, to 4.2-4.4V and then as high as the Provari will let me and report back to the group...

(Seriously, though. I've got to get my hands on a GG. Maybe the next time Bruce comes to town. By then he might have an Ithaka with him, too!)

@timmy - I don't think it should be glowing red while in use and with enough juice on the mesh an you should be getting lots of vapor. It may not be wicking enough juice to the mesh. I imagine (and the experts here can correct me if im wrong), that of the mesh glows red continuously you will eventually have an oxidized mesh with very low to little resistance which will not vape at all. You might want to try a new coil and makin sure that you are tying the mesh and nr wires well and that you put several drops of juice on the mesh before firing it up to make sure it's nice and wet.

In our try to find the best setup with mesh instead of wire I think that we can say by now ...

We can "play" with mesh to make 3 types of mesh resistance :

The first method is to use a thin piece of mesh, as it is, OVER the wick

The second method is to use a thin piece of mesh, as it is, AROUND the wick (exactly as we use the res. wires)

The third method is to use a thin piece of mesh, TWISTED AROUND HIS OWN...With this method we can arrange the diameter of our res. wire (mesh) so we can increase or decrease the level of the resistance

In our journey to find the best mesh setup, I figured two more ways to "play" with mesh :)

The basic idea, is to use mesh and resistance wire (together) to have a better (maybe) result ..

So ....

The first way is to TWIST together, one small piece of mesh with one small piece of res. wire (in the example I used 0.13mm res. wire)

The second way is to PUT INSIDE of a piece of mesh, a piece of resistance wire...So we will make a rolling piece of mesh, with the res. wire inside of it

After that (whatever method we choose), we can oxidize with flame the mesh wick... We should have something like this :

Then, we make our wick as usual :

And finally we have something like this :

I believe that the resistance wire, will help the mesh to have a longer life inside our atomizer :)

We will see :) :vapor: :vapor: :vapor:

i used ggero's first method by using a thin piece of mesh covering the wick, my mesh was 1cm by 0.8cm, totally covering my 3mm wick nicely without overlapping. then i twist them NR silver wire at both end side as shown in the first post first picture. Beem vaping it for a day now and first it was great, huge cloud of vapors and those good points using ss mesh. then after a day, everything went down, wasn't as much vapor anymore. i wonder what could really improve it's lifespan inside.
