^ me too. Here's why I think it is my medium of choice, aside from the fact that it vapes excellently.

1. My preferred method to build coils is to twist a coil around a micro sized blunt tip needle and mount it on the rba. Then I like to adjust it (with the needle still in it) to my preferred optimum location.

I found that wrapping around a wick doesn't yield a small and tight enough coil for my preference. Additionally, for me, making adjustments with the wick in place is not as precise.

2. I enjoy the tinkering aspect of rba's, like rewicking and recoiling on a whim. I have never needed to do either, but just LIKE to. This would be a waste to use Nextel in my case :)

3. Cotton just appeals more to my "I quit smoking to stop putting dangerous chemicals into my body" logic. I'm not saying that I think that Nextel is unsafe, I'm just saying that I feel better using something that I absolutely know is safer.

4. I like to wash out my RBAs ever week or so, why waste Nextel like that?

I love cotton too. cheap, damn near natural and simple to use and replace. best wick material IMO.

Just a quick question between work sessions this PM.

Both of you like cotton wicking, so far it's been my best experience too.

Are you using like the puffy cotton like in the cotton ball type or whatever?

I've been using boiled butcher's string, works OK but I'm wondering if the cotton ball type may be better and somewhat more manageable, particularly when it comes to threading thru the coil?

Thanks.

The only cotton I have ever used is sterile rolled cotton from CVS pharmacy. It is like cotton ball, just a humongous roll of it. You can tear off a little piece and twist it to the density and length desired. :)

Yep, it was in your tutorial iirc., the cotton bat thing. Stole some from wife-boss.

Gonna look for a magnifier glass like you've got on that stand thing. I'm using 2 pairs of 3.0 diopter WalGreen readers on my snout to see good. Also could use a good strong belt of "Sweet Lucy" to steady my hands.;)

I got that little magnifying light stand from Michaels.

Last night I made about 30 micro coils, should be enough for me for the rest of the year. I take mouth hits, but the TH is pretty good. I stopped taking TH after my doc put me in an antibacterial regiment for a week. It cleared my lungs good, and I haven't had ex-smoker's cough ever since. I've decided not to inhale anymore fearing that the coughs may come back. Like I said earlier, vapor production and flavor is much better compared to my old regular wicks.

Here's a step by step on how to wick them. The ones pictured above have 3 strands each. I found that those burn too easily; after 3 accidental dry burns, I end up rewicking them. The ones pictured below, is much easier to rewick and lasts about 5 accidental dry burns.

OKAY. I finally got around to trying a "micro coil" for the first time today. Russ, if I wore a hat, I'd take my hat off to you. I've been making my regular coils wrapping 30 or 32 gauge Kanthal around a little screwdriver, then threading a couple of strands of thread (doubled which makes four strands) through it. Usually wrap about 5-6 coils and come up with a coil that ranges between 1.0 ohms and 1.4 ohms....depending on the wire I use. They've worked great, so I didn't see any need to change my system. Then, you sent me that little 16 gauge needle, and I've had it in my mind that I'd give it a try one of these days when my eKowool test coil was ready to be changed.

Well.....tonight I made my first micro coil.....about 12 wraps around the 16 gauge then pulled some cotton ball cotton through it.....and it is AWESOME! It came out about 2.0 ohms, and I'm running in on my VVGrand, and it is sooooo sweet. It even "pops" a tiny bit when I hit it. (I love that.)

SO.......thanks, Russ, for all the research, the testing, the picture tutorial, and the 16 gauge needle. I'm a fan.

Damn, I rocked one of my RBA mentors' world? I like it :) I was wondering if you would use that dainty little needle.

As for the crash test dummy that I am, I'm either "all in" or not interested. I guess it's easy to see that this hyper, ADD, OCD freak is all in when it comes to my nicotine delivery systems :)

I'm really glad you tried it Jan :) and thank you for all the cool stuff too :)

Oh, if only Jack was here to run with that "since I don't wear a hat to take off" thing ...:)

I know what you mean. I "hear" what Jack would have said a lot these days. You know, he had 7,217 "likes" and he GAVE zero "likes." That seemed funny to me until I thought about it for a minute: He didn't ever "like" a comment.....he MADE a comment back. He had no need for the "like" button because he was IN every conversation. Just an observation. I miss him.
