doesn't matter which posts, if each wire has it's own start and end point (can be the same post or posts), you're parallel. Series would be the same (one) wire with some interruption in it, like no-resistance wire. (or what Commie meant, an uncoiled section in the middle) here, this is what he was referring to . . . .

OK. So, here's that other thing. Dual coil. 32g Nichrome (=31 Kanthal). 1Ω. Micro. Today. Hi. :p

Looks like about 9 wraps (x2 . . . . . . . ÷2 ?).

Kids, this is just fine. Nothing crazy special. Not bad at all. If anything, I'd say it has a bit more of the treble end going on; more tinny, less bassy. Its authentic low res. micro, tho. So if all ya got is 32-ish, this works fine.

So, quick update on the 32g dual micro. Next day, and I'm really liking it. Good flavor balance, standard micro cloudage. I'm gonna keep this one (until I get another stupid idea and throw the bone in the "100' pile", Supe). I would say that I've found a way to use up my "school days 32". Maybe I'll try a triple and see if I can make a dent in that 34g from my first-ever order of wire.

You know, (just took another few vapes) I think this setup is kicking a little faster too.

I know 30g is the wire of choice these days, but I still like my 32 gauge because it seems to hit faster. There's no "warm up" time between hitting the button and the vapor. The 30 gauge is a little slower (it seems to me) and I tried 28 gauge ONE time and hated it because it took it's sweet time between button hit and vapor production. Just my observation. Like I said, I don't mind the 32 gauge at all. I know I get a couple fewer wraps with it to get to the ohms I like, but it's a trade off.

Thanks for that post. I was wondering why i had to prefire my grand for a second before hitting it. I thought maybe something was going on with my contact firing pin and battery. Thanks, now I know. :toast:

My very first attempt at a micro coil. Its 30g kanthal, I forgot to count yhe coils and I dont have my glasses on me lol (blind without them) I rolled the coils using, I believe, a 2mm nail. I then put the coil in the rm2 and heated and squeezed them together. I just fished through some cotton but I wanted to show you guys before I saturate it in case I need to do something else to it.

It's hard to see in the pic, nice coil by the way, but the wick looks a little thin? You want to feel a little resistance when you pull it thru, otherwise, the coil won't get completely wet and have that burnt metal taste.

You can also shorten the wick so it's not much longer than the coil if you like :)

I agree with super_x_drifter......stuff a little more wick in there. You want it to touch the coil all the way around, but you don't want so much that it can't expand a little when it's saturated. I always cut mine off right at the outside edge of each post. Some people like long tails: I'm not one of them. Looks like a really neat wrap job. And clip the ends of your wire off really close to the posts, or bend them in. You don't want them long enough they could touch the cap when you put it on or it'll short.

So I have a question.... If this is essentially the hh357 coil (1.5) than has anyone tried insulating their posts and putting steel wool in for a hybrid atty design? I would love to be able to at least partially replicate the 357 design in taste, flavor and longevity? Following this post... Gonna try a ghetto version on my aga-s when I get home... With my son now : )

P.s. not a reonaut YET. Just bought my provari( first removable battery upgrade) and I'm not quote ready to drop another $200 just yet. I am a dripper however and am in love with the hh357( 1.5) def like low ohms... Don't like this atty at2 ohm sooo... Not trying to take money out Hana's pocket... Just want a great vape I can rebuild myself! I believe someone in this post said they use nichrome wire... Anyone notice a difference nichrome vs kanthal?( taste, rate of heat up?)

1.5 all revolves around the amount of wraps and the gauge of wire. I'm pretty sure you can duplicate your vape wrapping your own coil with whatever wicking material you want. I'm on my second week with my particular coil with cotton wick. When it gets gunked up just take out the cotton burn it clean put in new cotton and your good to go. RBA's have made me not even desire going to any other juice delivery device. The vape is just THAT good. Dripping is now the only way I vape and I have 3 ibtanked setups with cartos but it just doesn't taste as good. Oh well maybe ill try them out again one day..

Hey Rudy! Glad you are digging it bro. The 16 ga needle is the same size as my 1/16" drill bit :)

Got it thanks.
So i experimented this weekend with the nextel 1/32 that I just got. I made the first coil wrapping my 30 g wire around the nextel with 1/16" drill bit mold inside the nextel mounted on my Hornet then slid out. I found that the 1/32 size came out a little too lose in the coil after sliding out the drill bit as it stretched the Nextel then shrank after sliding out the drill bit. It worked but not great vapor production. i then tried a second time using the hex key that came with my Hornet. It slid inside the the Nextel perfectly without stretching it at all. I then wrapped 6 tight wraps, attached to Hornet, slid out the Hex key and VOILA!!!! Vapes like a champ. Stiil on the learning curve with squonks. I found I need to be a little more precise than with cotton. With cotton i found I can squonk whenever and not be too concerned about flooding etc. and it soaks up a ton of liquid so more hits per squonk. I found with the Nextel I need to pay a bit more attention to how hard to squonk as to not flood the wick. Once it hits it's prime the Nextel really produces great flavor and vapor. So now I'm getting the hang of it, more controlled mini squonks more often than cotton. Im at the point where jury still out. Seems cotton is more forgiving to care free squonking but Nextel will last much longer. benefits of each I guess. I'm thinking use my cotton wicks at home and nextel wicks on my road REO as I won't need to worry about replacing a cotton wick as often when out and about over weekends etc. I used to just have a pre rolled cotton wick spare I stash behind the battery in my road REO.

I liked everything about Nextel except three things in the end, #1 being the most significant.

1. Started to think about what's in it and how its processed (or not processed) and decided that I didn't want to inhale off it no mo.

2. It took all the tinkering out of my life.

3. I prefer to make coil then insert wick. I could not get the Nextel to work for me that way.

Aside from those, I really liked it as a wicking medium. :)
