I hear ya. We're all different (which is great) & people like me want to be different. Don't need a micro coil or rba to enjoy a Reo. Regular atties work great on them too.
I'm not familiar with other "box mods" as they call it but from what I've seen it kind of seems like what's out there gives them a bad rep? Seen a bunch of home made stuff too which gave me a chuckle looking at some of the stuff people have built but at least they try which I like.
Not sure if there are other quality bottom feeders out there. When I started I wanted to be different & didn't want one of those long goofy looking tube mods that everyone has. And when my friends who do vape see my Reos, they all ask what it is, how it works, I explain it to them, & most still don't understand as all they know are the inexpensive tube style productions. I carry my Mini everywhere, it's easily concealed in my hand with just the short rba & short drip tip exposed. And it fits perfectly in the small coin pocket in my jeans. That's a huge plus.
Quality & function is very important to me but so is form. I just couldn't see myself EDC'n a long tube mod that would last the day. Reo seemed to fit that perfectly. I got into machining so I can really appreciate & understand the build quality of Reos. I'm sure the metal Reos took quite sometime to eventually become what Rob envisioned, a simple yet very functional solid design. I tend to mess with & mod everything, it's in my blood, but the functionality of Reo, I can't really find anything to mess with, believe me I have studied it. Great engineering is fine but sometimes KISS is better (keep it stupid simple). No electronics in mods needed for me, I bought a Kick for the Grand & never bothered to use it.
Sorry, didn't mean to preach on about Reo, I have no affiliation with him, just my honest opinion. Some people like Chevys some people like Fords. Hey, you do know that you are in the Reo forum right? I think something is telling you to get one!
