What I had wasn't even what I would all a scratch. It was almost like a "gold rub". With a good rub on my sweatshirt it came off. What it left was a very very faint surface scratch. No metal exposed.
What I've seen pictures of in this thread the last few pages is very different than what I have.
In my pic, there is a mark between the two red points. Look hard.
Keep looking.

Sigh... mine shipped AFTER the VR went out. So, my chances aren't good... I hope they agree to do something about this, what some people got was not at all as advertised, and different from what everyone else got, and different from what they ordered.

I cut and paste this from somewhere, it was in my notes about the microstick about this batch:
"3rd Batch- it's the first one where strict quality control was applied to ensure that there are no 'white marks' on the black anodized body."

Too bad that there's no "unlike" button.. :(

Well, I mean, all things being equal, the finish is not that bad, but, if the mod comes in direct contact with a metallic object - for example, I just rubbed my wedding ring against it deliberately, and there's now a scratch on the mod. I mean, you really have to put yourself into it to rub it down to the metal. All our mods get scratched up here or there with rings or what not. The only way to compare it to the finish on the older batch is if someone is willing to rub something metallic on their microstick with a serial number below 1000.

I'm pretty sure that it's wedding ring which was scratched, not the mod itself.
Just rub the mod hard with your own hand and you will clean it.

Strange that it's ther. Definitely, it's not a scratch.
The anodising quility can be only better in this run, so for now I just can't believe that the anodising is bad. It should be something on top of it.

Have you got the mod with that golden rub on it?
If you rub it with hand or cloth, does it go off?

You know I rubbed it last night and it left it behind. This morning I looked at it and it was still barely visible. So I actually took a slightly damp micro fiber and rubbed it on and applied some pressure. The mark is gone.
So for ME, this is perfect. No marks left behind.

Hi little donkey! Would you be kind to read and see my pictures from just a couple days ago concerning the finish. Vaperev has agreed for me to return it and I plan to ship back on Monday unless you have some insight into the "whitish" very dull coloring on the body of the Microstick. It is not as flat black as the others or my extender which is a deep matte satin black. Thanks for any input before I ship back. I do want one badly, hopefully more to come as vaperev are sold out!

It's nothing to worry about - the mod is great. The finish is good enough for me. I can't fully rub it off, but you have to look veeeeery closely to really see it. No worries :)

Good! But if you can take it off partly, probably you can fully get rid of it ;)

I think I answered on your mail. We washed all mods before the shipping which makes them deep black. So it might happen that yours was slipped somehow. Strange though :(

Please, rub it with cloth. All whitening should be gone rather easily. You can't damage the anodising with cloth or your hand so don't by shy to put some pressure on it :)

Hey all! I am on vacation :cough: I mean travel for work (it really is work, as we have been doing 12-16 hours days! But I am happy to be out of the lab I work in normally and the weather in Arizona is wonderful!) and took my microstick with me! It is running the Spheroid and I couldn't be happier. I don't rebuild my coil much, I have been pulling the top off leaving the wicking material wrapped, pull the wick out, put the body back on, and dry burning it. Then re-wicking and putting Spheroid back together and topping off the liquid. So I can dry burn my Spheroid in my Microstick, and am very happy that I can do so, especially while on travel.

So just catching up, and saw some posts on scratching. I wear jeans a lot, and catch my MS on the little copper colored buttons of my jeans taking it in and out of my pocket. It does not scratch. In fact, I thought it was at first, but I have used anything from hand sanitizer wipes, to gun cleaning solutions to clean the MS. When I do clean it, I realize that the MS is actually scratching the stuff it comes into contact with, and I just have to get the metal off the anodizing, and it looks new! I have been beating it up out in the field this week, and no problems! It's a little tank that can take a lot of use and abuse!

So the only thing I would ask, is the 510 connection sealed? I want to be able to rinse it, as I have overfilled my Spheroid a few times and been using various ways to wipe MS out when the Spheroid leaks. Q-tips, wraps, or towels etc...

Thank you for the response! I was actually at the post office earlier today when I read your post and decided to wait and try to rub clean tonight. I took a damp cloth and began rubbing. The "whiteness" is a lot better but still a grayish black. It was like an adhesive rolling up in tiny pieces as I rubbed and would wipe off the little rubbery/little sticky pieces with my thumb. I have been rubbing for about an hour and I continue to get these little rolled up thingies, I guess I'll continue until all is smooth with the cloth! I will say it is much better but still far from the deep black of others!

May I ask what you wash with that makes them deep black? Here is a picture after an hour of rubbing, can y'all see a difference?

If it is sticky, I'd try using a little mineral spirits on a terry cloth towel. Works great for removing adhesive.

Forgive the interruption...

Will the Mini Vivi Nova fit in this thing? Yeah, I know. It's like putting a redneck behind the wheel of a Mercedes to bring the cows home but I'm not ready for coil rebuilding school just yet. Maybe one day. I just like the stealth potential of this thing.

I've done the math on all the measurements and it appears like it will work but I just can't picture how far the mouth piece will stick out. I'd hate to lose an eye. (Or a testicle should this thing take a funny turn in my pocket).

I think my finish is off, and it came directly from LD. I've really just decided the finish is matte on this 3rd run. Just running my dry thumb across the surface leaves a whitish mark that can be cleaned off. No permanent scratches for me yet, but I've been babying it.

I have really been rubbing mine with a damp cloth but I too notice if I rub in the same spot with my finger, it turns whitish, no scratches!? I don't think yours was as ashy as mine if I recall!?

Here is a pic with it in there fits fine. Have not used it in there yet so can't say how it would vape. Hope this helps.
