Same here..My brother and I use to hike the wilderness trails of Appalachian when we were teens on up until way after he got home from the Army..We "ruffed it" in pup tents and cooked on campfires..A delicacy was a Rock Cornish Game Hen frozen put away in our packs..It would take sometimes two days to thaw enough to impale on a forked stick..then another hour or so you hand one fine chicken dinner..I miss those trips with my brother. You all are funny, we did not have any fancy rvs when I was growing up, it was primitive camping or in the bed of the truck!
Love camping we are river rats though gotta have the sound of the river passing you by! Or it's not camping, hubby and I camped at Yellowstone when we went a few years back. Waking up to the sun shining through the tent. The fresh air, snuggled in the sleeping bag. Cooking on the open fire!
Oh momma now that's what I'm talking bout
Congrats Belmar..Nice choice hon!pbx! I saw your name on the list of winners!!!! Congratulations!!! And we're very honored that you picked us as your prize.

Move has been delayed..BiL is home early from hospital and can't walk..Refused his bed at a very nice Rehab where they were going to help him walk again..I guess he likes being an invalid..I've never seen the beat in all my life..My niece has to get him someone in here and soon..I've given notice.Sirius! There you are! Getting ready to make that move? Wasn't raining today. How's the back? You will be happy to know that although still a Tootle Puffer, I'm up to 16 watts on a 1.2 ohm in the Kanger Subtank. Tonight am breaking it in. Got a clear bell glass on it and got to watch that I don't put any "tank crackers" in it.....which means most of my juices!

Yeah and tyvm..Glad you are better Ms. Cruzer...I shouldn't have been born with this big heart I recon..I feel sorry for him...You're right though..It's not my place at all.You have to take care of yourself BY yourself Siri. Taking care of someone who is immobile could be a serious issue with your back if you were to try to lift or help. It's a good thing he has a child/children. It's their place to take care of that type of situation. Hope your move doesn't get delayed long. Take care of yourself.
Yeah and tyvm..Glad you are better Ms. Cruzer...I shouldn't have been born with this big heart I recon..I feel sorry for him...You're right though..It's not my place at all.
Yes this is a fine bunch and we even got nurses..well one anyway..I will take care to not hurt myself..I have set up home care nurses with his insurance and one came by today to change the dressing on his bandage..I've done all I can do..I can't lift him or any of the other stuff..He needs to still be in the hospital..That's another story though. We know about that big heart and it's why we think you're grand. Human nature is to try to help someone in that situation and I know even with back trouble, it may be instinct to try to catch him or lift in a way you shouldn't etc. So there's help, and then there's help. Give the kind of help you can but don't put yourself on the back burner. YOU are a priority!!
Did you see all these mountaineers telling me to stay in bed while sick? I actually did what was best for me and that feels a bit strange but necessary sometimes.
Well,..just don't let anyone think that they can treat you just any way..That's one reason I'm back in SC and not in Georgia. I got a big heart but there is a limit to what I will put up with..Someone that wants to just sit there and stay tore up on pain pills and be waited on hand and foot I'm not very sympathetic towards. Believe me I get that pain bit..but dulling the brain isn't the right way to deal with that imo.I didn't mean to preach, really. We just worry about you. I could write the book on not putting myself first. It started out with being a mother and always putting kids first and somehow, it continued. I'm a works in progress now. The older I get, I don't have much choice sometimes!
Inbe..Gotta love you nurses girl..Epidem---WHAT?!?Hey all! Just getting caught up. I enjoyed reading about everyone's camping adventures. Reminded me of my dad. We used to go camping all the time when I was growing up and he always had the latest, greatest RV on the market...with the expandable rooms, microwaves, ice makers, etc. Not really "roughing it," but also not my cup of tea. I'll take an ocean view/balcony on a cruise ship where I don't have to do anything anytime!
Ms. C, glad you are finally starting to feel better. And Momma, glad your paw is feeling better, too.
KS, so sorry to hear that about George. Sending good vibes for a quick recovery.
PBX, congrats on the win! Can't wait to see what you got!
And Chooch, that's awesome about the Cool Fire. I also have one on the way, so now I'm excited to see how it performs.
Kayte, I'm not familiar with the shire, but I just love those pics! And I so enjoyed reading about your home. That is fantastic that you and Doug were able to pay it off in nine years! Hubs and I will be working til the day we kick paying this place off...
Siri, that's a shame your BIL decided against rehab. I can empathize because nowadays, rehabs are in the same facilities as extended care and it can be a little depressing for those who are trying to get better, but it still would have been better for him to go there for the intensive therapies. I would definitely have your niece or whomever get some skilled nursing and home PT in there, and the sooner, the better, too. Hope your back is feeling better soon as well.
Well, my gold box from the auction came today...yay!Loving the clay on holly wood - it really is so gorgeous in person. I tried to take some pics, but they came out terrible. Will maybe try again tomorrow.
Sorry for the long post. I should really get to the mountain more often! But have been very busy this week. My dad's house sold (and pretty quickly, too -- I think it was 4 days on the market), so have been over there trying to get the last bit of furniture, etc. out before closing, which, if everything goes as expected, should be the 22nd. Still makes me very sad to go there, especially now that the house is pretty much empty.Plus, I just started working on my master's and have a mid-term tomorrow in Epidemiology -- very interesting, but just a tremendous amount of information, so have been trying my best to study.
Enjoy the rest of your night, all!
