fellow Mountaineers!

Got in my Fantasia tip yesterday...and I have to say WOW! She is absolutely gorgeous! The pics don't do her justice...so many colors dancing all around, pinks, greens, purples, golds...so glittery and sparkly! And in the sunlight she really shines! I am so in love! Will post up some pics as soon as I am more awake and feel like messing with my camera!

I believe Choochoo was flying out Wednesday morning. I'm hoping she'll be able to pop in now and then!
hmm. ok. can I see a picture of the grey and green unfinished? and just asking, do y'all spray or dip for the finish. I will not ask the secrets. lol just curious is all. I don't have a lathe but I am a craftsman. I have some amazing red marble that would be amazing totally as a tip. can I send y'all some material and se what y'all can do with it? just another thought. I have access to all the stone/granite/ marble you could dream of. free of charge. only draw back would be shipping. but figure that wouldn't beat us up too bad if I was sending priority mail, whatever could fit in there flat rate box. just a thought. as said, I have unlimited resources.
I'll PM you some pics as soon as I can get them. (Probably tomorrow or Sunday?) He puts the finish on while the tip is spinning on the lathe, one coat at a time. The woods generally have 25 to 30 coats, depending.
He's intrigued with the idea of turning stone and continue checking into it. From what he can tell, alabaster and sand stone are about all that can really be turned on a wood lathe if it can be adjusted to turn much slower. Something like marble has to be turned at a very low speed and has to be wet while turning. We're not terribly optimistic that he can do it with the lathe he has... which is a shame. Wouldn't they be beautiful?!
However, I could get really excited about getting a box of throw away pieces that I could use in rebuilding 'the shire' if they were big enough to show decently. :w00t:
You'll have to show us some of your work sometime!
What a fantastic idea!!! We'll need red, white, and blue tips, and some streamers! (Ok, for me red white and blue is purple, but what ya gonna do?) Then a keg of something good, lots of goodies to nosh on...
My red, white and blue for today is pale baby blue with blue hummingbirds. There is just a smidge of red on their throats so I'm 2/3 of the way there. Sort of.

I'm so glad you love it!!! Can't wait to see your pics!

Speaking of pics - On the website, I've started a new page where all of you can show off your set ups. It's called "Customers Gallery and Comments." If you feel like it, you can PM me a photo of your set up and I'll get it posted on there. I'll put your name (whatever name you'd like - real or imaginary.. haha) and if you would like to make a comment, I'll put that as well. I figure showing happy set up pics with our tips couldn't hurt... unless you want to comment that you hate your tip, of course. :glare::pervy:

I already took the liberty of posting a few... QRXT and catcat... if you want me to remove the pics of yours, let me know. :D If you want to give me a comment to post... YAY.

I'll be posting four tips in a little while. Doug is finishing up the 4th. Then he has to put the wall and floor back together in the laundry room so I can get in there. (The washer is in the middle of the room, blocking the door. :sneaky:) He's not real excited about that plan. He'd rather be making tips. I'll be helping him, so that should speed it up. 'Should' is the operative word.

Be back in awhile!

Sorry about the missing piece. I um.. well...

But Dale --- Aren't you enticed by Louisiana Nights? I can imagine walking in the quarter with jazz music circling in the air when I see that flowing tip with the purples, golds and greens. N'awlens can be a magical and/or mysterious place.

It's also my adopted "home" as some of my close relatives have migrated and the old homestead area is a bit sparce of our clan.

This looks nice for this hot and sunny day. Enjoy

im so sorry there is a way to get it off. just shoot me a pic and some common knowledge of what happened and I can give you the how to or can run down someone in your area to get it done for you.

Bless your heart =) I'll try to remember to take some pics Sunday; the couple who lives in the river house is being married on the riverbank, and I'm there to witness it, and to give an e-juice & coil building seminar to the wedding party. My fault, for letting the plumber do the tile, but he was a persuasive so and so!

lol.. that goes both ways. I try not to do plumbing, or electrical, or painting. doesn't mean I do not know how to install a valve body, or replace a ceiling fan, or paint my walls. just don't like doing jobs outside of my trade when I am working I def would not want any plumber doing my tile work tho. that doesn't even sound right.

it can be an easy fix, most of it depends on the tile you used. just hit me up....send some pics with some details of tile used and I can help get you sorted.
