Okay! So I build a 1.5 ohm coil and put it in my tank and that on top of a mech with a 18500 battery. Should get good taste, vapor and battery life. The good taste and vapor will NOT degrade for how long as the battery's power lessens?

Edit to add: Just read your last post Tearose. Great idea! :thumb: Will give that a try. Thank you.

I recently won a hybrid mech and was advised to follow this rule, just to be sure I didn't run my battery down too much. She is a smart lady and does her research before making a move, so I trust her opinion.

"Follow the 100mAh=1hour rule and divide by 3, and you won't run your battery down."

I am looking for something to match the copper mech, was hoping for a RTA, but looks like I'm going to have to settle for a dripper. I already have tips for the new mystery topper thanks to the K&D's man cave, lol.

No sub ohm builds can be used on 18350s..I build that 'Vela around 1.5 ohm single wrap coil. Not advised to sub with 18500s either. I know some do but I never push the safety issue.

I think you've been misinformed, or are taking a "general" stance on the subject. The Efest purple series are built for high amps. Their 18350 is good to 10.5A! I just rebuilt my Origen last night, and it came out to 0.41 ohms, which equates to 10.24A, which *could* be run on an 18350. However, it's a best safe practice to divide the amperage rating in half and not exceed that, which in this case would be 0.8 ohms - still sub-ohm, and very safe (with the Efest purple battery - others, not so much).

As to your 18500 comment, the Efest purple 18500 is good to 15A, which would be a 0.28 ohm build, so sticking with the 1/2 amperage safety rule, you could safely build a 0.56 ohm coil on the Efest purple 18500.

Now, just for the record, I always use 18650's on my sub-ohm builds. It's not just safety, it's a guarantee. My 0.41 ohm build is pulling just over 10A on a 35A battery - less than 1/3 of what it can do. Besides, with sub-ohm sucking so much power, it's nice to have 18650's.

EDIT: I forgot that ECF is censoring links to V apor J oes, so here's his link to ebay, where you can see photos of the amperage ratings of each battery. Why ECF have to act like such children is beyond me.

Well technically you can safely go down to around 0.7 ohms safely on an 18350 IMR battery, but you wouldn't want to anyways since the battery life would be laughable. 1.5 ohms seems to be a nice spot on a mechanical for vapor production and battery life.

Agreed. It would fall within the realm of safety (given a good battery such as the Efest purples), but you'd better carry a 4-pack of spares and like changing batteries!

Efest mislabels their batteries. The IMR 18650 Purple Efest are marked @ 35A. The 2100mAh are actually 30A.
You are correct about the 18350's being 10A but a build at 0.41 ohms is pulling more than 10A and that exceeds the batterys "C" rating.

Better safe than sorry and I know few sub ohm'ers that build for 18350's.

ETA
I know it CAN be done with 18500's and with 18350's but it's just not worth it to me to push "C" ratings.

Uh, JohnD0, think you convinced me to stay with regulated. My poor brain hurt after reading you post! :p All this figurin' with amps and stuff even before putting the battery in is NOT "wash and wear" to me. I don't want to think THAT hard......heck, can't think that hard anymore!

Kayte! Woohoo! Woohoo! Are you feeling better? :) Thought you'd like to know the "Autumn Day", pg 1022 post 10221, came in today, and it does look like a shower of aspen leaves in the setting sunlight! I was fortunate enough many years ago to take a tour of Colorado in the fall and actually saw this happen. Breathtakingly beautiful.

This tip has the yellow, orange and purple larger sparkles sprinkled all over a white base. Am using on purple glass and white ProVari, but have plans to put it on the gold glass or a clear glass with orange juice! I would imagine that this would go pretty darn good on someone's purple mods. :D

Here in late Oct. we get some beautiful fall colors.....some years. The yellow, oranges and reds can be spectacular. This tip though can be used for spring time too! :)

Aw chooch, it's not really all that hard. To get amps, assume a fully charged battery (4.2V) and divide that by what your ohm reader says. In the case of my new build last night which came out to 0.41 ohms (on the meter), the math is 4.2 / 0.41 = 10.24A. Now that would *REALLY* be pushing it on the Efest purple 10.5A battery, but would be fine on the Efest purple 18500 battery (which is rated at 15A), however, I like to play things extra safe and never exceed 50% of the battery rating. All the good 18650's (Samsung, LG, Sony, Efest, etc.) are good for at least 20A-35A, so 10A on my build should be very safe.

Just stick with good 18650's and you're not likely to have any issues. It's only when you get into deep sub-ohm ranges that you need to worry a bit more. I'd say anything less than 0.3 ohms, you better triple-check your math :p

100% agreed ... I stick with 18650 IMRs usually the Purple Efest. Never had a moments problem out of them. ;)
Just never EVER put one in upside down while using a Kick2 ...Yep I did.

It's wonderful Dale. Hummingbirds and Butterflies --- very fun & amazing little birdies and the best of the bug world!
If you ever tire of that tip... All in fun and meant as a compliment. I know you'd never part with that tip.
Well, you never know ... nah, you're right
Very girly yet elegant at the same time. Looks to me like you are missing some dangly charms.
Thanks, charms get in the way  I've tried that in the past.

How long did it take you to find that Dimples?

Okay Molehillers, who has an aerotank mega? How is the fit of your MhM tips on the mega? I know that the protank 3's have a really shallow drip tip hole, is it the same on the mega? I kinda want one since I already have plenty of coils that fit it.

Mega is shallow too =( But I don't mind as much
