i also agree..

do we really want people who have never smoked to take this up.

do we want this to be advertised to children

do we want this to be allowed in schools and colleges

I feel this device is for existing tobacco users who want to give up or move away from smoking tobacco

I dont feel the time is right for us to ask for our rights to puff on planes and in public places just yet ..but to make sure that countries dont make it illegal

I samoke them in public resteraunt, but cover the light, and hold breath until vapor doesn't come out- people mostly just think I'm chewing on a pen- but I do let the occassional vapor out by mistake and always 'feel guilty' liek I've doen somethign naughty lol.

Noone has ever asked about it, but if htey do I just plan to tell them it's a nicotine delivery system that produces absolutely no harmful effects in it's water vapor and just leave it at that mostly. maybe hand them a card that I got from SmartFixx that explains them a bit

I also don't recommend exposing the ciggs too much as resteraunts and bars do have the right to ban them because others might htink they are real and think they can light up real cigarettes. It would take a massive campaign to educate hte public before resteraunts and bars felt comfortable neough to allow them I think, and I don't see a campaign liek htis happning anytime soon- tilkl then I think we gotta be discrete. I think if we try to push too soon, we won't have enough support behind us to fight the rabid anti-everythingers who will cry bloody murder at hte sight of the vapor and will cause mass hysteria abotu hte product and get the government involved who will probably act ot ban them because not much is known abotu hte dangers, if any, of htem just yet.

I think what they mean by that is that the smoke that comes from the tip of the cigarette when it's lit is possibly more deadly, as it is not sucked through a filter and partially inhaled before it can be inhaled by someone else.

I've seen NHS adverts about this I think, but I could be wrong.

I agree! I'd even go so far as to say it's a medical device to help me get off cigarettes, like a new and improved nicotine inhaler that's sweeping the world and how could anyone not be aware of this fabulous advance in helping smokers ... It's fantastic. No smoke. No fire. Check it out (puff, puff).

I constantly describe e-cigarettes as improved versions of the nicotine inhaler, people seem more ready to accept this than if I explain what they actually are.

I would agree, we cannot yet flaunt the fact that we are still getting our nicotine! The general public are now so fearful of cigs that anything that resembles one near them causes them to be totally irrational in certain situations. I took mine to the pub for lunch and smoked it in the garden (this due to it being such a nice day), some other non smokers saw the vapour and said let sit over here away from the smoker. It was a penstyle one with the blue end!! One of them was watching me with a look of disgust so continued, periodically tapping the end then took it apart, she then looked really confused!!

Nice one Betty! It's so silly when you're even outside and they're still looking in discust, what do they want you to do? Sometimes totally confusing them is the best way to go! :thumb:

I have been smoking my Janty in restaurants. The first time I felt rather guilty like I was doing something wrong. After I got over the initial shock of being able to do it, I have started flaunting it blatently, even dripping extra juice on the atomizer prior to going to the restaurant. The last time I did it was in Logans Road house. After I had been puffing for a few minutes, the manager came zooming up to the table out of nowhere sniffing the air, stood there for a minute and sad, "I forgot what I was going to say. Oh yea, how is your meal." Obviously she was confused by the lack of odor and unwilling to push the e-cig conversation further. I will still continue to flaunt my e-cig but will take the advice of this forum and when questioned about it simply say it is a medical device to help me quit smoking and the smoke is just water vapor.

I deffo think you should all smoke it as much as possible in public.
Its the only way it will get into the public domain.
Just say its a brand new stopping smoking devise that produces vapour.
I am sure when you explain that all it is is a nicotine vapourisor like what you get from the chemist (I know its a little white lie) Then tell them that you have stopped smoking and I am quite sure in most cases that it will be ok.
Don't go into any more detail. Why not ask them if they smoke and offer a few web sites.
If that fails stand on the table and shout out I AM NOT SMOKING ITS WATER VAPOUR at which point you will get kicked out. It would be funny but not recomended.:D

I still yank the occasional chain but the devices must be more common now so it isn't so much fun. The word's getting out, people. I think the coloured units and blue/green LEDs are helping onlookers realise that it can't be a cigarette. I don't really flaunt my real cig lookalikes these days. The most rabid antis still have a go but those eejits are blind anyway.

Got "caught" in an elevator and didn't really feel like explaining myself.

Her: "Are you smoking?"
Me: "No! It's an atomizer. Looks like it though, eh?"
Her: (After a pause) "What is it?"
Me: "An atomizer... kind of like a cheap nebulizer but there's more vapor."
Her: (Silence as she tries to figure it out.)
Me: (Door opens and I exit.) "Have a great day!"

I'm in the US, East Coast tri-state area. I use my E-cigs everywhere and Have found that most people will give me the thumbs up once they understand. Heres how it usually goes.

A. "Excuse me but what are you smoking?"
B. "I'm not smoking, its water vapor, i'm trying to quit cigarettes"

A. "Oh... Good luck! :D"

Thats pretty much been my experience all around. Most people just wish me luck. If they seemed extremly puzzled I briefly explain it to them. I've been waiting for someone to give me a really hard time so I can school them on the ecig real hard but that day has yet to come which is a good thing :)

yeah, how long is this water vapor shpeel going to hold merit though. its a good con but i fear an article relating to the "damaging" effects of pg is imminent. would not surprise me from reading the few doomy articles we have encountered...most probably put out by big pharm.
My thought on the subject is that is can't be NEAR as dangerous as the cigarettes I gave up. If it were I think I would still be hacking and coughing like I was 8 weeks ago!
