I've just been vaping discreetly. I don't want to have to explain it. And like you, if I'm caught, I just say it's an inhaler to help me quit. If they ask any more, I tell 'em to google "electronic cigarette" then I'm done with it.

If it's a friend or family member, then I will give them business cards from my favorite suppliers. Which by the way...some of you guys need to send me more cards. :p

i was at the local shoppingmall/centre doin the food shopping and i felt like a quick nic hit before i go into the supermarket so out comes the white with orange led 901 and i have a few nice puffs
i was being given a bit of a death stare from a husband/wife duo nearby so taking the just was glowing stick from my mouth i proceded to .... the device out into my other hand
changed the look on thier faces real quick .... hehe love it !

I only just started vaping recently. I felt a bit awkward using it in public at first and I still don't use it inside public buildings. However, I use it regularly outside and have even turned two smokers on to them. One of the smokers I showed it to has now turned another on to them. I felt really good about that and therefore have every intention of letting it be seen as often as possible (without changing my habits).

I also am happy to answer questions. I think exposure is important and when I tell people that after two weeks being cigarette free, I tried to smoke a real cigarette and I couldn't, they are very surprised. Those are just my personal results, but I am sure they can and have happened to others.

I started keeping cards in my wallets for any smokers who seem interested. I would love to get a hold of an information pamphlet of some sort.

Welcome, Moira! Glad to hear about your success sharing our hobby with others! I do much the same thing, except I do use it inside. I usually try to have a couple extra e-cigs in my jacket to show off different models to anyone who asks about them. And I keep a few Njoy and Janty cards on me. I'd like a few Puresmoker and e-SmokeyTreats cards, too. (hint, hint guys)

It's easy enough for me to carry a couple extra ones, my jacket has like 38 pockets. :D

I'm still working on gaining confidence with regards to smoking my e-cigs in 'non smoking' places.

I started 5 or so weeks ago, with a super mini which an orange led - since I wanted it to look like a real ciggy for use at work. I've since bought a black mini (901b) so that I've deliberately got something that DOESN'T look like a cigarette.

My boldest move to-date was today, I was playing in a poker tournament in a casino in Edinburgh. Before the tourney started I went up to the card room supervisor and asked him if it was ok if I used my inhaler. I waved the black mini at him and he said 'yeah sure mate, no problem' without even looking at it. I thought that he must be familiary with e-cigs.

At the final table of the tournament the dude ended up dealing for us, and he asked me 'what is that's coming out when you exhale?', to which I usually reply that it's pretty much the same as the stuff they use in the discos and theatres - he said it looked like a great gadget :)

Anyway, I sat and puffed on the thing for 4 hours with only my fellow players quizzing me on why the hell I was sucking on a black pen :)

KatyS, you may be in luck........

“As long as there is no tobacco in the product, it is not in violation of the Clean Indoor Air Act,” explained Stephanie Bethel from the Southern Nevada Health District. :thumb:

It seems they are OK in Vegas. Unfortunately, the East coast is not as enlightened. We just had a large WPT poker tournament where I work and a couple of guys were using e-cigs. The security supervisor, who knew nothing about e-cigs, proclaimed that they could not be used in non-smoking areas. We even had to make an announcement over the loudspeaker.

All of this happened while I was e-smoking down in the break room with no complaints from any employees.

Well ,been e-smoking for a few days now , exclusively with a super mini until my other orders turn up. :D . Anyway , went for a pub lunch with my mates and for curiosity sake thought I would have a few puffs waiting for my food to arrive, The conversation went as follows:-

Barman :- Oi , you can`t smoke that in here!
Me:- But it`s not a real cigarette , it`s a new type of nicotine inhaler ;)
Barman :- F**k off mate , outside now!
Me:- But......
Barman :- Look I`m not arguing with you!!!

I used my discretion as 2 massive doormen made a bee-line for me, I unscrewed the e-cig and put it back in it`s case. Their faces were a picture as they quickly realised all was not as it seemed.

After a bit of banter they accepted my point but still "advised" me to go outside as it might give the other punters the idea that it`s o.k. to smoke indoors.
Probably wouldn`t be a problem if I had a pen style or atleast a different colour LED. So smoking outside, no-one batted an eyelid except a gent that had had a bit too much falling down juice  and couldn`t believe I was smoking a miraculous ... that never seemed to go down!

 that why I didn;t e smoke in cafe .

here in sg , most places most ppl don;t accept it

if yes happen this person know about e cig ,
he/she also will ask u go to smoking area to smoke

rather in non smoking area.

I agree with that. It can be intimidating for a non smoker to see it being used in front of them, especially when the technology is still misunderstood or new to them. I reckon that places with a designated smoking area will ask you to smoke it there along with the regular smokers. I will let you in on an experience of mine in UK.

I like some of the UK airports that have smoking areas inside the building, with extractor fans removing the fumes safely from the building. They do literally stink though, and the close proximity of others makes your clothes and skin stink, even though you don't smoke and only vape. That could be a bad move for vapers who are waiting for a flight to their holiday, business venture or return home.

I would say that you are safe in most places that have a lockable toilet area. You can smoke one of these in a toilet cubicle without any challenge. There are never cameras (or shouldn't be!) in a wc facility. Nobody can see or smell you apart from the dump you did while smoking it. You can just visit the loo to have a vape. This would work in offices, airports, planes, trains and stations. Even shops in high streets have customer toilets you could pop into for a crafty nicotine fix. It would not set any smoke alarm off, and it's consealed away in your pocket before you leave the closet.

Could there be a more perfect crime  ha ha

While waiting for her name to be called in a packed waitng room i thought id be brave and go for it to my absolute surprise nobody even noticed ! Even the nurse just thoght i was sucking on a pen !! So if you want to e smoke absolutely anywhere a black mini is the way to go !

Leaford and I have posted about using the this technique: Keep the pen style in a lanyard around your neck. When you want a hit, pull the tip up slightly, draw from device, hold the vapor in for about four seconds (so none will exhale) and drop the lanyard back in place. I'm vaped everywhere, including hospitals, using that technique.

But I will not challenge with upfront use of an e-device. Things could easily turn ugly and confrontational. Note that there is no "right" to e-smoke anywhere, despite glowing ad claims from sellers. While not illegal, the use of the device is up to the property owner or designated authority. If push comes to shove, you're out the automatic door.

I generally use mine outside, and have gotten a few curious inquiries. Every once in a while I'll take a few puffs in the back room at work and once I took a few inside the bathroom at the mall.

I love explaining the device to people who are interested. I generally take it apart and show them each piece of the device and explain how it works. If I get a chance I'll give them a demonstration. Most people just assume that it's a normal cigarette at first glance and don't pay any mind to it.

I think it's best not to use your e-cig inside public places that normally wouldn't allow smoking unless everyone present understands what you're actually doing. I generally don't like to take people out of their safe little bubble. It's best to just respect the wishes of others in my opinion and don't take the chance of causing an upstir. People in my area are generally very uppity and tend to jump to rash conclusions.

So far everyone that has asked me about it has been very interested and even asked where they could get one, how much it would cost, and my feelings about it.
