I too still have 4 cigarettes in a pack, in a drawer, in my bedroom. I worry about the power going out, and not having a way to charge my batteries, but then I think to myself, "Why did you buy the adapter for the car, DUH???" I can always charge my batteries, on my car adapter, or use the passthrough if the power went out for any length of time. With hurricaine season approaching, and being a survivor of Hurricaine Hugo, here in North Carolina, we were without power for a week. I can't imagine not having my batteries charged up enough, to last that long. That's why I have 12 batteries with 2 wall chargers, to keep all of my batteries charged up, all of the time, and a car charger, and the passthrough, so that if anything like that happens, I'm ready for it.

Your idea about keeping a pack of smokes around was a good idea, because not a lot of people can quit cold turkey. As everyone here knows there are anti depressants and other drugs in cigarettes that also keep you hooked.

I will say, your taste for cigarettes are like mine too they taste like ..... I pm'ed you because I wanted to say something directly to you, but I will also share it here.

You, myself, and everyone here has at one point has never smoked, and our first drags were like "this is gross, but______" (Insert reason there) I have to keep doing it." Now most of us are smoke free, for at least 4 months, and if you try smoking again, I can assure you... They taste like ....... And you can take that quote out of context... And it will still mean the same damn thing.

Everyone here knows Steve's story of why he started V4L, and people like Bornagainst, Sawlight, Kimmy and a bunch of other people here know my story for starting, but for those that do not know, I will tell you short and sweet.

I was 21, and I was in the hospital with a chest tube due to a collapsed lung for 2 weeks. It hit me that No smoking didn't do this, but if I do not stop, it can re-collapse. I was truly scared because all my friends smoke, so I figured since I am a ..... without nicotine, I will try dip. Tried it, actually liked it, but it got messy, tried the pockets (snus) Loved it, worked for the whole two weeks in the hospital, then I saw everyone light up and was like...F me man, I want a light. I tried the bottled water trick with the snus, didn't help cause I wasn't blowing smoke out, tried a twizler same deal. I found V4L, and I actually stayed with them for the whole year I been here. I will tell you, having that vapor come out was a deal breaker for me. The vapor is what I look for, because then I think of a cigarette, it doesn't matter that the mod I have is the size of a quater and it is as long as my palm, it is just the simple fact it produces vapor...

Sorry I did not want to Hi-Jack a thread by adding that bit in, I just wanted to show how right the OP is.

Yep i have slipped ...but try not to kick myself for it too much...i slip one at a time now instead of 10 at a time ....was 2 weeks in with not one analog when a close family friend died ,off the wagon i went but not 100% ,I forgave myself eventually.None of them tasted good ,ick .I am trying to remember that everyday now as it is still not ok with me .
almost 3 months i think ...two months in ,get more scary news, fell one here ,one there ,doing ok now .Keep switching flavors ,vaping alot sometimes but thats ok ...still at 18mg ,started at 24mg....i wont lie ,a glass of wine or a beer with and analog sounds damn good .but iwont .I am starting to mimic the AA people ..one day at a time .Its all i can do .

I apprediate the story, I know a lot of people who have an ecig and still smoke. I just don't get it, but it's their choice. I had no problem transitioning from smoking to vaping, but I really did want to quit smoking. This forum is full of success stories, but there's other stories out there we don't hear about, and it's not pretty ... :( Kudos for finding your way back to the Vapor King.

I got my ecigs last year and was all into them....but still smoked. And then...the ecig fell by the wayside. I was going to not order any more analogs....but I did. My husband had a heart attack shortly thereafter and quadruple bypass a month later. He almost died. So - that was my excuse to smoke even more.

Then I started thinking....I don't really want to prompt my own death or die sooner. With the change that has come during his recovery (eating really, really healthy) I was feeling better and losing some weight (not that I'm overweight...but I could stand to lose a few)....and then I'd pop outside and have an analog. Somehow....it just doesn't go together. I am down to my last two packs of analogs. I haven't smoked them in 4 days. I probably will smoke the rest of them. I'm not the type that can just throw them away or have them there and not touch them. But, I have been trying something new...going outside, sipping my scotch or rum and not smoking. It's kind of nice. Tonight I dug out my old ecigs and found a battery that was a little bit charged and a couple of carts and vaped that.....it was nice.

I wasn't committed last year. But I believe that I am this year. And people think it is odd that I'm not just throwing the rest of what I have away....but - I've got my process and I'm going to follow through with it. That is another thing....last year - I didn't have a plan or a process that I was going to follow.

I plan to stick by it and I am resolved. My husband is waiting to see what happens and my neighbor laughs at me....that's ok. I know what I need to do. I figure that in two weeks from now, I will have smoked the 2 packs of analogs and it will be over and a new life will begin. I'm excited.

Thanks for the thread - it gives me hope!

Awesome post Vermonter! Hey live your life, and if ecigs make ya happy go for it, if smoking makes ya happy, go for it. It's about choice, and personal decisions, dammit.
I loved to smoke for almost 40 years, the only reason I tried a ecig was to get a hit of nic at my job, but I was blessed, I quit the cigs after only 2 days, and that was with a 510 ecig that i had to drip and re-fill all the time. :(
Then i found this forum and haven't even wanted a cig since.
On my way to 2 years cig free and i LOVE it!
But like I said earlier, people are...different.... not my favorite living organisims....plants and animals, now those are the best:D

Thanks for the support. I just wanted to say one thing about your favorite living organisms....plants and animals....AGREED WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!!! I love ALL animals and currently volunteer with a cat rescue. I'd do a dog rescue too but I live in a townhouse and am gone 12 hours a day at least - so that wouldn't work. I do have 9 hermit crabs though that live in a nice tropical environment - wish I could stuff myself into those tanks!

But - I won't hijack the thread any further. Thanks again.
