My humble review of Lavatube Vs. Silver Bullet. *pic*

I ordered Silver Bullet first ,then after seeing good reviews on Lavatube here on ECF,I ordered one.

Both arrived on same day. Lava is much lighter in weight ,the button is easy to press. On the other side ,SB is heavier ,not a big problem ,but what I don't like about it ,is that I have to make a deep press on the button for it to work.

Also I am using a tank with LR cartos. I don't know why , but the vapor is harsh on my throat on 3.7v ,so I have to dial down to 3V. After a while I need to dial up again ,maybe to 4.0v. And I don't have this option with SB.

I love my Lavatube and I don't think I'll need a Provari or anything else any time soon. The SB looks nice and all , but I like Lavatube much better.

Thanks for the review. I have the lavatube, but find i prefer 3.7 with LR carto/tank set up better. I am seriously thinking about the SB in the very near future........as in tonight lol

I heard a rumor that Chad over at altsmoke is gonna make a extension cap that would allow the SB to use the Kick module. SO there is hope for a VV SB. to me i would be happy with the basic model. vv Is good, dont get me wrong. There is just something to a basic device that works. Just grab and go and no need to worry about this and that.

I dont think there are many people out there that would say the SB is a shoddy mod. It has one of the best track records i have seen in any mod.

I am getting a lava tube as soon as I can it will be my at home pv becuse i know it will never hold up to my job or camping trips. My silver bullet will be there for that,and if I can get a kick for it in the future life will be perfect.

Nice review but aren't you comparing apples to oranges , one's a vv and the other is a fixed . I think it would be more fair to compare vv to vv and fixed to fixed at same volts .

Absolutely the first thing that I thought when I read the title. A better comparison with the Lavatube might be something like the Infinity (what? sacrilege!) - although the LT doesn't really have any competition for its price point and form factor.

An extension for the SB to take the Kick and still use an 18650 IMR would be great.

Agree that comparing the Lavatube to the SB might be a little Apple to Oranges, but we also need to keep in mind that these are both very attractive options of the first-time PV buyer. IMO it all comes down to what you want.

SB: First and foremost, durable. It's a solid mechanical 3.7v PV. I've owned almost every manufactured PV out there, and the ones I still have are my GGTS and a red Silver Bullet. The important thing with any unregulated mod is going to be atty/carto choice. Since you can't change the voltage you need to make sure your atomizer is right for the vape you want. If a LR is too harsh for you at 3.7v then maybe you need to try some standard resistance attys.
LT: I've got one of these coming, hopefully this week. VV is a nice thing to have for those attys/cartos that require a weird voltage (weird=Not 3.7v, 6v, or 7.4v). The downside is going to be durability. The lavatube isn't 'Built Ford Tough' so you have to be a lot more careful with it. It's crammed with electronics that can fail.

In a perfect world I'd say own both. I do (will)

I have yet to see a drop test on the lavatube to feed this "not tough" perception, the only one I have seen where it was thrown around like a hot potato...it came out just fine

Agreed...people love to talk about things they have no experience with.I have an L-ryder tube and have dropped it a few times.It still works as well as the day I got it.I guess people that paid over $100 for a battery tube that is basically the same thing,don't want to feel silly.

well i took the lava tube to work with me and dropped it. It separated the top cap from body a little. still works fine but my sb has been dropped on the same floor many times and it only has a few battle scars. Im leaving the lava tube at home like i said i would do.

My SB (Black) is now almost two years old. I've had it drop out of the truck while getting out, left in the snow and water on the street for 4 hours. It was run over at least once as it was pushed down in to the ice. Got the snow brush out, chipped away for a few mins to get it out. Held it up to my ear and pushed the button. Nice little sizzle sound so all is well. Just changed the cart and away I go.

That being said. I just ordered a LT VV but I don't think I want to abuse it like this. I don't know if it would or wouldn't handle it. Just want to be nice to it as it's brand new.
