I faced the same issues with my mother when I was living at home. I'm 22 and started vaping this past November after making the choice I was going to do this over smoking. My mother, a near half a pack a day smoker, was not happy to say the least the first time she saw my vape pen in my hand while the rest of my family was either supportive or indifferent. Right off the bat I was told I had to vape outside and constantly both questioned and attacked with misinformation that she looked up thinking it would scare me away. While I continued living at home up until the beginning of January, I did my best to honor her wishes of vaping outside, though on the particularly freezing days, I could manage to stealth vape in my room as the flavors I was vaping back then were rather weak. I also would continue to talk to her from time to time of what helpful information I could find on vaping in a positive light. I have yet to go back to visit after I left, but I'm hoping at the end of this month when I go back to see her for my younger sisters graduation that things between us are better. I hope you the best OP!

So I'm a 19 year old guy, started smoking when I was 14 and finally quit cigarettes 3 months ago. My parents like that I quit smoking but they think vaping some sort of gateway drug that will make me want to, and I quote, "smoke {OTHER STUFF}". What I don't understand is that both of my parents both smoke a pack a day. I even tried to convince them to switch to vaping but they said they don't want to smoke that "{OTHER STUFF} device". Even when I vape in my room, they come in and get ...... off because they're tired of smelling my "fruity {MODERATED}". How can I convince them to get a better understanding of vaping and potentially start them on it too?
Yea, my P's always gummying up the works too. I moved into the basement and now my mom doesn't have to smell all my "fruity stuffs"[emoji12]

Just a suggestion here. Make a deal. Ask whichever parent is more open to try vaping for 2 days and see how they feel. I would get him/her a Nautilus or a good sub-ohm tank and a liquid that they might really like. Does Dad like coconuts? Apples? And no chuff caps. At the end if mom/dad doesn't agree, quit vaping. OR, and I don't like this but I understand the need of nicotine, buy a bottle of 0 nic juice and simply show that to them and say your not even using nicotine. You could also ask them if they have ever been in a nightclub with a fog machine. The fog is vegetable glycerin without flavor and nic. Play them Fresh Prince's "Parents just don't understand". That might guilt them into it. Good luck.

I have been vaping for 5 years now and used to be a PAD smoker for 3 years.

Explain to them that it is simply harm reduction and that you are inhaling chemicals that you can pronounce and know what they are. PG, VG, Liquid Nicotine and the same flavoring they consume in every day foods. Ask them to describe the 3,000+ checmicals they inhale every day, ask them how their lungs and chest feel compared to yours.

Otherwise, move out and watch them slowly die from cancer.

You've been smoking since you were 14 and now you're 19, in my opinion you're like the first generation that has a better alternative.

As for your room, I'd question who's room it is, and whether you're over reacting to your parents sense of responsibility for what goes on in the room they allocate for your use.
