I tried the folding of the "loose" polyfill that comes in most of the current 510 carts. Instead of cutting anything off, I just folded it over in half, doubling it up, making it about 1/2 inch in size, filled my cart most of the way full, popped it in, inserted it so the folded ends are to the side, not towards the opening, made sure it was nice and snug fit, and it seems to be working great! So far, no leaks, and I am getting huge, good tasting puffs. So if you are trying this mod and have the flimsy, "stacked" looking filler, try folding it to make the plug to see if it works for you. This is a great mod (so far), and I hope it continues to work for me, and everyone else for that matter.

I too had been using the blue foam, and got decent results, but noticed it still does not wick all the juice out. I am also using only VG.

** I should have read one page further, I didn't see the other post about folding it, until after I posted this***

Hi all,

Have tried thi mod as well as the spring mod and the fluval mod and only being a light vaper I am having to refill cartridges after every 10 puffs on all. I am als not getting the throat hit which is basically what I crave (using joye 510 with mega battery).

I am getting really frustrated until I read that other people are having good experiences and that perhaps I am doing something wrong and I am one correction away from being totally happy with e cigs.

I basically fill up the cart till it is a few ml below the top and add a very thin veil of the original cart filler to the top. I don't have any leak issues but it seems I am filling up/topping up the cart about 15 - 20 times per day (I was a 10 smokes per day Marlboro prior to jumping on e cigs).

I find that the top of the filler is dry as a bone and that it only takes a single drop to saturate it as there is ample liquid below the filler.

Any suggestions that anyone feels would help me out and keep me vaping instead of having to return to analogs? I have stopped analogs totally because for some reason they taste vile now compared to the cinnamon and clove ejuice i bought from Johnson Creek (Marcado) or any of the other ejuice flavours (PG) I have purchased from TW and E-Cigs UK.

I really do not understand why you have to top off the cart when there's liquid bellow. I have been using this great MOD for a week now, and never looked back on any other thing. I even fill the carts without washing od drying the little piece of poly. No leaks...Vape till the last drop. All you find in the cart is some condensation really.

Another thing: when you say a few ml you are trying to say mm (millimeters) right? My method is simple, i fill the cart in such a way i use about 2 drops less before filling it up to the top. It becomes a second nature. I put the "plug" in...and happy vaping.

For PG i make the plug a bit longer, for VG this thing is really tiny! Been using the same plugs for a week now and still can make a lot more from the leftovers of the original polyfill. After a wash the poly becomes as new.
On a side note: i never compress the polly. Just use it's original shape and snug it with a pair of tweezers (and i think my poly is the not the dense version). By taking it in and out, it will become a triangle or V shaped plug, that really plugs and wicks THAT good!

P.S. currently im vaping on the same juices you are. That and LF cappuccino!

Can't wait to try this mod out with my Tornado that comes in a few days. If I'm not mistaken the Tornado uses most of the equipment from the 510's so this should work great with my equipment. Thanks highping!:thumb:

Yes the tornado is a 510 with a bigger battery. It will work just fine. In fact i bet this will work with any model if the proportions are kept. I am using this great method with my tornados and with the SD. Will be using it tonight on a freshly arrived 901 kit.

I've been using this mod for a couple of weeks now and love it, but prior to trying this had thrown away all but 1 of my fillings (that came in the carts), and was strictly dripping. Now that one has pretty much had it. So.....

This is probably a dumb question, no make that TWO dumb questions.

1. I placed an order for empty carts today, and am wondering when I get them how to tell if they are the "dense" or "loose" filling? Can I assume since I just ordered them this week that they are the new looser fillings? (I have no idea which kind the one I've been using was).

2. I have several bags of polyfil from Walmart at home that I use for making pillows, crafts, etc. They are "flame ......ant." Can I use those or is the polyfil you all use a "non-flame ......ant?" I don't even know if there is such a thing, but since I'm about to leave my office and head home, I wanted to stop on my way and get the right kind if the flame ......ant I already have isn't supposed to be used for this.

Thanks for any help!!!

Note: I'm a country girl, and live so far out that once I get home, it's a pain to go back to "town" for supplies. :)
