See the quote above Papa...having the filler pushed by the atty IS part of what makes this a GREAT mod.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong. My filler gets pushed further into the cart, resulting in leaks and flooded attys. And getting it out is too much of a hassle. With the ADM, the spring acts somewhat like a stopper.

To each his own I guess.

highping, great mod. I did a search for a mod I came up with and found it already existed here! I was going to name this "Too Easy Cart Mod".

I read a post that Papagoatee had their filler get pushed down. I have to ask...how is this possible? Unless the size is too small to stay wedged at the top. I find the stock filler is too dense. I cut off most of the filler and the pull apart the remaining filler I'm going to use and then squish it back together and stuff it in the top of the cart after filling. And then a few more drops to get the filler wet. The atomizer will push it only as far as needed. If it goes any further, then you may be using too little filler (or try pulling it apart first like I do).

Hhhm, glad you posted this. I had the same problem with it slipping in too far over time. I'll try making it just as thin but wider, though I gotta say I like the PTB made easy (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartridge-mods/52430-ptb-straw-mod-ptb-made-easy.html) too.

Newbie here..............a dumb question but what keeps the juice from coming out in your mouth if you put juice then a "plug" at the end atty end and also how much juice do you use? I tried this and juice got in my mouth and I only used 6 drops. BTW I'm using a 510 atty and round cart.

Thanks for your help guys. This forum is a lifesaver!

I use a round cart. Maybe you need a slower draw for your atomizer/cart. I get so much air through mine I could probably breathe through it normally. But if the airflow isn't available, the vacuum may bring anything that can with it (like juice).

I'm thinking I may have to thin my current plug down slightly more as I don't think it is wicking fast enough. The first drag taste good, then subsequent drags taste bland. If I wait a minute, then I can repeat the same situation. And I've already removed most of the original filler. (See, this is WHY we do cart mods, they weren't designed correctly to begin with).

Still being a relatively newbie, I thought this may have been a problem with my mod or liquid, but now realize it is probably just a wicking issue.

I have some choco-banana juice I made up. Was going to throw it out because it tasted like crap and didn't produce any vapor. I tried filling 3 carts and using 3 diff atties. Nothing would get a good flavor or vape out of the mix.
Since I didn't care if I wasted it, I tried filling up a cart using this mod. I didn't cut my filler at all, just wadded it up and stuffed it in. It may be a bit long, but as has been said, baby steps.
At work I built me a little rack for my 510 and store them upright, with the cart at the top. I figured I'd set it in there and see if it would leak. After and hour, no leaking or flooded atty yet.
So I took a hit and oh my goodness does choco-banana taste good, and it produced a quality vapor. I have no idea why the method of the filler would make a difference but it has.
I may remove some length to get a bit more juice, but as long as it doesn't leak, and the fact I've been hitting tit longer than I normally do before refilling, I may leave it the way it is.

Thanks HP!

Tried this starting yesterday with my 510, round tips, works very well. only tricky part is getting the size of poly just right. To little and your fluid will leak out everywhere. to much and its like standard, top goes dry. find that happy medium and this simply works great! I have been able to leave the thing resting in any orientation with no signs of leakage. I do use liquid that is pg/vg mix so the VG does help since its thicker. You will probably need to have more fill if you run 100% pg vs 100% vg or a mix. But once you dial it in, it is a great mod. I get very consistant vaping from start to finish and when the vapor deminishes, the cart is trfuely empty. When I pull the cart to refill, there is only maybe at max 1 drop still left in the poly. I am sure this could be used up too but I just stop and refill when the vapor deminishes to prevent getting that nasty burnt taste that comes next..lol

No, the little piece shouldn't go down. It does not "float" on top of the juice. It is wedged into the top of the cart. The juice empties through it and it stays in place.

This method seems right for the first cart fill, when the cart gets empty, the little piece should go down at the bottom of the cart and so the second fill should be difficult because ur putting the liquid on top of the fill. Isnt it supposed to spill that way??

I'm a new vapor and I don't have alot of juice to do a bunch of trials. BUT I did have enough to try this mod. (bunches of juice on the way though, thanks Damon) I use the 801. I took out the fill and used some polyfill from walmart. Filled up the cart 3/4 and put in the plug. Must have been a good fit. Vaped it all out. Got a bit of burn taste, here is what I do. I pushed the plug all the way down, filled up on top, used my handy dandy poker thingy and grabed the plug and pulled it up to top and bingo, on my 2nd fill as I type. Nice mod, no leaking, just typical mess when you pull cart. off due to the canals in the 801 cartridge. Nice though.
Lovin this forum. Thanks for saving my life ecigarette.

Thanks for this simplest of mods! I'm only about 2 months in and had adopted the PTB mod early and thought that I was really on to something. Your simplest of mods blows that away IMHO. Fortunately I had not yet disposed of my original cart filler material. Thanks again. E-cigs and this forum have to rank in the top 10 best things that have happened for me in quite some time.
