Yup, looking like it'll have to be an AC inverter. I was hoping to find a simple DC step-down regulator, but all seem to have a max current output of 3 amps. Some have 5 amps, which would put the upper limit somewhere around 20 watts. Looking for at least 40 watts.

BOOM!
Look at the naos raptor chip. I think it takes an input up to 14 volts. And it jus 120 watts :)

Frocket, thank you for your service to all of us!

If you don't already know, most, not all, DC/AC inverters produce a sawtooth wave output rather than a true sinusoidal output. While that may not be a problem with vaping equipment or something that uses a power supply like a laptop, most audio equipment will have a very annoying buzz as a result. DC/AC inverters with a sinusoidal output are more expensive, but are usually higher quality as well.

Cool..and right..what would be the harm? I lost my Nemmy to the deep six. She committed suicide by jumping out of my front pocket overboard while I was fishing.[/QUOTE]

You reo guys crack me up. It's just another mech mod with some extra bits. Oh, sorry that's Reo with a capital R. Like God, always with a capital. [emoji3]
Keep that Reo on a leash when fishing so you don't end up diving for it. Nemesis (clone I assume) let it sink. Reo, in the water for it!

I was thinking pass through also. I'm almost sure someone makes one for a battery charger.

The innokin device (somebody help me out here, memory not working) has a 510 connection and pushbutton. Plugs into power outlet and connects to you atty. PBussardo did a review on it.

100 watts isn't too much, IMO. I have the Sigelei 100w, and I use it more than anything else. It's very rare I run it at anything over 40 watts, though.

The reason I like it is for battery life. 2x 18650s in series (stacked) pushes between 7-8.2 volts, depending on battery charge. Regulating that down to 4.5 or 5 volts is slightly more efficient than boosting voltage.

I would love to get one of the new Vapor Flasks or the Bap dual 18650 DNA 40 mods, since I like dual batteries, but the price point us just too high. I'd love to see the prices come down at least a little. Does anyone know if the Vapor Flask and Bap mods are in series, or parallel?

BOOM!

Saw the flask, it looks so comfortable, would love one. Just why do mods have to be so expensive!?!?!

Seems to be the only non boxy dna40 device so far with 2x18650, not much more than 24mm wide, if that, but its curved, like a kidney(?) and feels good in the right hand.
I'm somewhat ambidextrous and never paid much attention with my box mods (or tubes), but because there is a concave side there are all kinds of configurations (with both hands) between using the forefinger to fire, or the thumb (which is not ideal with this) ... on my hammond box Raptor dual 18650 devices which lots of folks say are too big for some reason, either thumb or forefinger feels normal; in either hand. There is a "wrong" feeling about palming it with the concave side.
Oh hmmm, *i think I'd like it better if it were just an oval to take all the fidgeting out of it.
Let's put it this way; there is only one ideal way to hold this V Flask, and that's with your right hand, and firing with your forefinger so remember to put it down on your right side. (sorry I know this sounds stupid, but its true, and I could go on... but i won't)

Want a nearly oval? Try building a mod based on this one...

Well, a car battery's less likely to vent so it's probably a lot safer (when it comes to batteries at least) :)

Only safer at the end opposite the vaper. I don't know why it just doesn't sound like a good idea. Mmmm.

Woooh Nelly..Don't say ANY! The Reo has that famous dropping spring you may have forgotten about. Any short that spring collapses and it shuts off. I'm sure that pdib would also mention his Dibi that is fused. Maybe a few others out there also. I've seen melted circuitry in VV/VW pics posted quite a few times.

Correct Sirius and I should have mentioned that as I well know about the collapsing spring in my Reo :). Any proper fuse mechanism is going to eliminate the battery short issue and that IMO is the most important part of keeping our batteries from venting. It still leaves minimum voltage to us to control and though that can cause internal shorts over time, people don't run them that low often.

However, I'm pretty sure the vast majority of mech mods have no protection in them at all and that was what I was thinking of. Next time I'll say it that way ;)

But is the vape still safe??

Yup, when system becomes VW only if someone was relying on temperature control to hold down the power, they will have a burnt hit. I would think they would immediately realize what's up and fix it. And they would probably learn from that experience :)

Well, a car battery's less likely to vent so it's probably a lot safer (when it comes to batteries at least) :)

The problem with a car battery is that it is virtually unlimited current. Keep in mind that a starter draws 100 amps or so and car batteries are rated at 400 amp hours, or so, and up. While that means it would last a really long, long time for vaping, if something goes wrong with your device the results could be truly spectacular and very unfortunate.

Yup, that's why I'm interested in rigging up a VW passthrough in my HMMWV. This winter, I'll be moving to Germany and will be evaluating (observing) other units during their training exercises. I'll be spending plenty of time in my truck.

Also, I kinda like the idea of having a HMMWV mod. Not very pocket friendly, but still pretty portable ;-)
