Yup, when system becomes VW only if someone was relying on temperature control to hold down the power, they will have a burnt hit. I would think they would immediately realize what's up and fix it. And they would probably learn from that experience :)

Naaaa, they would need at least two active brain cells to rub together for that to happen.

Remember these kids are use to vaping 200 watts

Can you imagine someone cranking one of those bad boys up and not test firing before hitting it, The atty catches fire mid hit and instant lung burn. Yeah I'd say hospitalization from smoke inhalation would be a lessen learned...lol

Yup, looking like it'll have to be an AC inverter. I was hoping to find a simple DC step-down regulator, but all seem to have a max current output of 3 amps. Some have 5 amps, which would put the upper limit somewhere around 20 watts. Looking for at least 40 watts.

    BOOM!

geez, hooking up a PV to the car battery is so 'old school'

5v pass through. Plugs into a cig lighter USB hub.

Stick a 1 ohm coil in your rda, and you're at 25 watts.

I ordered a "flask" type case from FT the other day and am going to try a dual 18650 DNA40 build in it if I can cram all the required parts into it. Here's a link to it...

Well.... Anyone who has been keeping up with this thread knows that recently I was struggling with rather I should either go for a 100W-150W mod (probably the T8) or go ahead and give a DNA40 a try. I decided to do both after figuring out just how cheaply I could do a DNA 40 device for.

So for anyone looking for a DNA40 "on the cheap", here's what I did. I ordered the DNA40 board obviously, that was $60.... Now by the time you add in a box, a 510 connector, a usb charger, buttons, screen bezel, etc the price can start climbing up quite a bit... But I found a simple solution....

Elev8 Vape (I assume mentioning them isn't a problem since they are a forum supplier I believe) is selling busted Cana Modz DNA 30s. Anyone who has been around for a while knows these things were prone to failure and had tons of issues. So apparently there are tons of these things just laying around that had to be replaced. They are selling them for $5!

It's possibly a bit of a pot luck, but with any luck what you'll get is a box that includes the 510 connector, buttons, wiring (battery and 510 wiring may need to be replaced to ensure it can carry enough current), battery holder, and with luck a working USB charger for $5! Slap the DNA 40 in it and you've got a DNA40 device for $65... You can't beat that. Saved enough money that I can still purchase a T8 once they are released or possibly even wait for a higher wattage temperature protection device.

I would replace the 510 with a MFS Floating Pin 510 anyway so that wouldn't matter.

I have a couple FDV floating pin 510's around... Planned on replacing it with one of those, but still for someone looking for the absolute cheapest way to get their hands on one of these, it will work... At least until they drop it with a heavy atty and strip it out, but at least it's easily replaceable!

I just jumped over there and ordered two, a red and a silver. Couldn't pass it up. Parts alone are more than 5 bucks. Thanks for the tip. If anyone wants one they should probably jump quick, they're going fast.

LOL, well that explains it! When I first read your post I just figured it was some new 510 that came out that I hadn't heard about... My first thought was something my freedom smokes was selling... I was actually about to go google it thinking maybe I was missing something when I had to run out of the office... :D

Is it still worth it if shipping is 15$? There is still the blue in stock only. Fasttech is going for 20$. Not sure.

Going fast indeed! When I ordered mine I think there was blue, red, silver, green and I think orange... I just checked again showing a friend of mine and there's only blue left!
