Just to be up front, I've never used anything but a regular KR808D-1 battery so my frame of reference is very limited. That being said, I really wanted to share my experience with this new set-up to hopefully help others who are considering taking the plunge.
First of all, I was getting frustrated with the 808's for all the usual reasons... short battery life, constantly refilling carts, cleaning carts, frustration with voltage dropping off which produced little vapor and satisfaction, occasional burned carto taste, wasting juice, etc. I really didn't want a bigger battery but I think most people come to the conclusion that unless you are constantly connected to the passthru... a bigger battery is the only way to make this less work and be satisfied. So my search started.... the iGo was my final choice because I could still use my 808 cartomizers. Here is what I've found....
As far as using the regular cartos... I am having a hard time getting all my V4L cartos to fit. They just don't screw down all the way so they can't connect. I figure I'll save those to use with my little batteries. If someone has a fix for that I'm all ears! My V2 carts work famously.
The cartomizers that come with the unit are awesome! Filling them is a breeze... just keep adding drops until one drips from the bottom. That's how you know it's full. Supposedly you can refill them 100 times before you toss them... no cleaning necessary. We shall see. So far I just keep topping them off and they keep running like champs. As a matter of fact, even when it seems like they must surely be almost dry, I can only get 5 or 6 drops in. It's quite amazing.
I'm going to fill one with Maiden Coffee and see how that does.... it generally kills a regular carto after a few refills. That will be a BIG test. lol
The battery charge lasts the whole day. One thing I would like to know is if these batteries should be completely drained before charging or just pop them on the charger any time. Still no solid answer there, so that's another thing I'd like someone else to chime in on. Otherwise they just take a few hours to charge up and the charging unit lights are very easy to read.
The draw has been the most amazing part. It's so smooth and cool but great vapor and flavor. My juices have never tasted this good before. The only thing that bothers me a little is that sometimes I have to let it rest a bit or I get a flat, no flavor, hit. There is still lots of vapor but no flavor. On occasion I'll get a hit with a metallic taste that gives me a massive head rush. Not sure what that is but it's not pleasant. Again, this only happens when chain vaping so it's teaching me to slow down. There is also a smell I can't place but it's not the juice because all the carts I'm using have it.... perhaps it's the rubber tips??
Speaking of the tips... on occasion (I think when it's been laying on it's side) there is a drop or so of juice that comes through the tip. I thought it was from overfilling but now I'm thinking it has more to do with moisture build-up inside the carto.
Overall, this is a 1,000,000,000X improvement over the little batteries. I still use them a lot but it only makes me appreciate the iGo even more. The good news is that I've tossed the passthru in a drawer as I have completely lost interest in it. It feels good to not be tethered to a cord any longer.
I would highly recommend this kit to anyone who is tired of messing with the little batteries and cartos. I'm loving it so far!
