From Area V, Frankenmizeria...

In the Vast And Prohibitively Expensive Laboratory we have the VaporShark rDNA running the Evolv DNA40 chip.

The rig: SQuape R, wide-open airflow setting
The juice: Walker's Finest King (iirc, Arturo Fuente King T), 100% VG
The coil: 10-wrap 28 ga. TEMCo Pure Nickel Annealed (Ni200) Round Wire coming in at 0.26 ohms
The wick: Koh Gen Do
DNA40 setting: Temperature control @ 450 degrees

The vape: Fully saturated, entirely delicious flavor. The preheat is a new thing to get used to, but it doesn't take long. The dna 40 continuously adjusts power to maintain the temperature setting.

Is this a game-changer? I can only say that I've had the King in the same rig with a Kanthal+DNA30 and I get better, more nuanced flavor in the temperature-controlled DNA40 setup.
Am I impressed? Yes, I am. Just as my switch from EGO+Clearomizer to advanced mods+self-made coils and wick were a revelation, so is this.

As always, YMMV.
Thanks for the DNA40 report!

Can we discuss the vendor list on page 1? , i think it needs a shakeup. The "too recent" deserve tier lists and the others should get a vote as well. Who has tried what? I think ethervapes should be A listed and Indigo B list (i got the sample pack and it had some fantastic stuff some even all day vape worthy but it all tasted...too sweet for my palate)

ITA about EtherVapes. I just placed a big order last night to take advantage of their 20% off sale. They have, IMO, very clean NETs. IDK about indigo - never ordered from them.

Clay now has two blackberry burley's.... the original Uncle BJ's and the new Air Cured variety...

Hmmmm...has anyone tried the Air Cured BB? I can't imagine any juice being an improvement over the original Uncle BJ's BB! Hands down, my favorite vape. Just wish it didn't gunk so bad.:vapor:

The difference is Uncle BJ's uses a fire cured burley that has a little more bite and smokey flavor... the Air Cured is going to be a little smoother while still retaining the same level of flavor. I really like BJ's version... but I do prefer an air cured over a fire cured tobacco.... I'll probably order the newer version at some point but I need to vape through the Uncle BJ's I've already got on hand. I did order 4 of the newer flavors ( all heat extracted ) and one of the originals that I'd missed trying previously... they should ship in the next few days hopefully...

15ml of 'Dat Caramel Brownie in'da Pipe?
15ml of Black Cherry
15ml of Framboises et Vanille
15ml of Fresh Ground Mocha Café
30ml of N-E-T's tRY4.1

Ever clean out your vape cabinet and find something that was forgotten about. Well was moving around some stuff and found my well steeped Vita Bella. This stuff turned dark over the last 6 months. However, the flavors are awesome in this. The vanilla is done right and really comes through now (it was not as pronounced when I first tried it). That plus the tobaccos make a real special brew. So glad I was in the mood to reorganize my cabinet.

My guess is that many of us go back and forth concerning coils and wicks. At least I do. Micro-coils, spaced coils, single/dual, fancy builds, with all the different wicking materials and various ways to wick. Uff da.

The general consensus around here seems to be that NETs taste best vaped in rebuildable drippers. While I agree with this and use both my Magmas, as well as various small-chamber bottom fed RBAs on bottom-feeders, I also appreciate clearos and tanks---Kayfuns being the industry standard, although many worthy challengers have appeared. While tanks such as the Aspire Nautilus with BVC coil heads may not be quite up to Kayfuns, Orchids, Erlkonigins, etc. in pure flavor, they sure are convenient.

Below all those are the lower-end clearos, most notably the many EVOD-style bottom-coil devices. Many of these use the ubiquitous Kanger-type coil heads that are so easily rebuilt. They're fine for dessert and fruit juices, but they just don't measure up for NETs. Since I have so many of these bottom-coil clearos (mainly the GS-series of dirt-cheap clones---H2, H3, and H5, since I never saw any real advantage in the much pricier ProTanks), the challenge for me is squeezing the best flavor and performance out of those clearos.

I played around for awhile with rebuilding Kanger heads as vertical coils. When done well, those are terrific, but the problem for me with building verticals is inconsistency. First off, a Kanger head vertical is sort of a pain to do, and it's a drag to finish one after ten minutes only to discover that the draw is unacceptably stiff or doesn't wick properly, which happens too often. Horizontal rebuilds are much easier and more consistent, but I wanted to a way to make them better.

My solution is to use a prebuilt coils/wicks from FastTech---50 for $3.50 or so, 1.5 ohm, 32-33 ga. NR-R-NR spaced coils. Yeah, they're Nichrome rather than Kanthal A-1, but who cares? I've never loved the fuss of winding coils and torching them. Too much trouble (your mileage may vary, of course). I prefer to grab a pre-built coil, strip out the silica wicks, and use Rayon instead. Boy oh boy, Rayon makes all the difference in the world! I can rebuild a Kanger EVOD horizontal coil head with a Rayon wick in about two minutes, slap it on a Twist or Vision Spinner clone battery, and the flavor and vapor production are 80-90% of the high-end devices. While I continue to use my Nautilus tanks, Kayfuns, Magmas, and other top-line RBAs/RTAs, I actually like vaping my homemade NETs on an H2 or H5 clearo that cost me less than two bucks and a mere 5¢ to re-coil.

I don't bother to dry-burn them or change out the wicks. Instead, I just build a brand-new head every week. Sometimes I rebuild Kanger heads whether or not they need it, just because I enjoy that two-minute rebuild. Man, there's nothing like a new coil with a fresh rayon wick to make me happy!

We've come a long way over the past couple of years. Homemade NETs and rebuildable atties have upped our game big-time. If the DNA-40 temperature regulation does indeed revolutionize vaping the way some people feel it will, that's all to the good. Concerns about prohibitive legislation and health issues notwithstanding, vaping has already raced forward from its infancy into its adolescence, and I for one am a very happy vaper.

I have tried the Air Cured BlackBerry Burley as well as the BJ BlackBerry Burley. For my taste I prefer the air cured version because I am not fond of the "burley bite" in the fire cured version. The burley flavor in the air cured version is definitely there however without the "bite". The natural blackberry is just outstanding in both versions. Sometimes I order it with extra blackberry. I have had a couple of blends from EV that had air cured burley in it and I couldn't barely taste the burley. Not so with NET.com.

Thanks for the info! I usually order my BB with extra blackberry anyway. Loves me some blackberry! Perhaps that is why the fire-cured burley doesn't seem to have a "bite" to me - I'm too busy swooning over the blackberry! My very own "purple haze", if you will. (With my apologies to Jimi.)

I may just try the air-cured version next time, with xtra blackberry, of course.;)

MVJ Sutliff Private Stock Spinnaker Pipe Tobacco: https://www.myvapejuice.com/product_info.php/cPath/22_71/products_id/370/osCsid/a23259e9b9685ee3abd86fe75d555563

70PG/30VG 24 nic all proprietary recipe.Mini Nautilus with 1.8 BVC on a Sigelei 20W set to 12.6 watts.

I don't remember why I slipped this into the basket on my first order from MVJ. Probably because of the Burley/Cavendish mix since that's what I was focused on at the time.

After steeping for 4 or so weeks I started sampling through the order. Spinnaker was one I didn't care for. Seemed like there was nothing there. I tested through the others over the next week enjoying all. Came back to Spinnaker and something had changed. It had opened up a little more and was as noted in MVJ's description.

Light with a round throat hit that's also concentrated on the upper part of my mouth. Sweet exhale. It seems to have a touch of dryness but not grassy like MVJ's Centurion (which I'll get to at another time because it quickly became a favorite.) I don't have the knowledge or taste experience yet to identify which flavor is more prominent or not.but the honey-ish sweetness seems to be on top if that makes sense.

Spinnaker quickly became a 30 ml reorder. It's a nice, light, uncomplicated vape.

Onward through the Fog

Has anyone done dual coils on the 26650 size Magma? Just wondering what I can expect.

My guess would be vapor..<rimshot>

Assumes properly built coils. Don't forget the wick..or the batteries..or the mod.
Do not taunt 26650 Magma..or 26650 mod.
Offended 26650 devices have been reported to morph into 53300 devices and beyond..
the upper limit is unknown at this time..

Ha!

I never taunt my 18--- mechs, don't want to end up with a 26650.

Received my brass sleeved Quasar clone from FT. It's a beaut. I like the thick walls and domed top making for a smaller chamber for a 22mm dripper. Should be a nice flavor machine.

Also got a new style ceramic DT https://www.fasttech.com/product/1712604 Will be picking up a few more, like it as much as my vase style ceramic tips that I use all the time.

Gonna review RBFS's Caven Fever next, so will be Black Cavendishing it up for a couple days.
