I have started to take Rich's straight up fire-cured (whatever the hell he calls it) and adding some Lorann flavorings. The first one I tried is Captain Black. Initial impression is very good but the jury is still out. Guess what? Gotta let them steep too. :(

And then gotta find the right amount to add. I never want to lose that fire-cured base. I want the flavoring to simply compliment the base and keep it from being dry...not overtake it.

Damn, B! When did you start venturing into the dark side of DIY? It's fun, even if barely doing it.

Add some, let it steep for a week or two, then adjust to that same mix. Always start small. Always!

Yes we did.

I, once again, generally don't talk about the liquids I dislike (hell, I won't even PIF 'em). I actually only liked one flavored liquid from QnJ: ouR whY Qu4tro. The rest of those flavors were, shall I say, standing in the way of a really nice tobacco. Bronze, if you could see my list of liquids I dislike/loathe/abhor, you'd see that not only am I normal, but my success ratio is much lower than my failure rate. But, to be successful one should learn to be okay with a high failure rate. When I buy NETs, or "tobaccos" for that matter, I go for everyone except menthols, or unless the menu is too damn vast, but I'll still try. Hell, didn't you see when I bought all of Prime vaping? I've had all of Vaperite and only ONE out of both of those entire lines did I find to be what I would vape, though I'll never even order that one again (sorry lasttango and AnthonyB. LOL).

Aint that funny..ouR whY Qua4tro is just one of a very few QnJ's I don't like. :)

People sure are different.

I don't doubt your batting average is well below .500 as mine is too. I like messing with you. I do believe, however, that your range is wider than mine. That is meant as a compliment.

One thing I have learned is that while I might not like a particular flavor, I can see where someone could. It's like a quality measure. ouR whY qua4tro, to me, is a quality vape. RY4's are just not my thing. That someone grooves on it is of no surprise to me. But then there are some juices folks like that I just do not get at all. Kuba Kuba? Really? BlueMist (any of their flavors)? Really?

I'm not sure DIY e-liquid is for me. In fact, I am sure it is not for me. I'm not an artisan and I admit it. I'll leave that for the juice chefs. A man has got to know his limitations. But if anything has been obvious to me is that straight-up fire-cured begs for being tinkered with. Yes, that would be barely doing DIY. :)

Nanu-nanu. I promise you, there are some flavors that both of us can agree on, we just got to find them. J/K. Actually, I think you would like Ghost Peach Tobacco from Darth Vapers, but I know you're apprehensive. I have more to try from them, but at this time, Ghost Peach and Vanilla Tobacco are my only recommendations (and VT needs a long steep, but not as long as VB ;)).

Barely DIYing is like adding salt or other condiments to premade meals. I love doing it that way. A little bit of this and a little bit of that -------------------------> now it's perfect!

I thought we were getting tired of sampling? :)

Well, I have introduced the disclaimer that I am not sampling from vendors untested by me, unless they are gifted/PIF/free. Since I was familiar with DV, I allowed it. My latest liquid samples (free) from DigitalCiggz (Turkish Tech was good, maybe better for VaporMizer, but I like it); Vaping Extreme (their R-YLD-4 was very enjoyable, and a likely reorder); Apollo's Sahara was a clone of Ahlusion's Sahara Blend, but without tobacco (no bueno, but it was a trip); and N-E-T.com (of course those are good and being tested). The really bad stuff like Chlorine, RiZe Vapor, Vapure (though I think some people would really like Vapure's Dry Blend and Sweet & Mild) and many others that I can't remember because the trash already went out, will not be spoken about beyond this post.

I'm vaping some Apache/Proudest Monkey blend this morning. Truthfully, I cannot remember what ratio I blended. I mixed it about a month ago and forgot. But it is really good as in REALLY good! Not all blends I try work out. In fact, if it were baseball, I'd be hitting about .300. The fire-cured seems to work with everything. It's the smoky characteristic that works so well with other flavors. QnJ hit it out of the park with their fire-cured tobacco.

Anyhow, just wondering if others blend and what blends have worked for you.

I need a break from the FDA discussion. :)

These days, that would net you about 6 years at around $20-30 million per.

Remember that "true tobacco synthesis" NET/not-NET mystery? The liquid was Clever Vape's Nostalgia. It's a black honey tobacco that's pretty tasty. The medium tobacco mixes with the black honey for a nice, bittersweet taste. In some ways, it reminded me of a stronger HHV juice. The tobacco is there for sure, but the black honey has a strong presence. I enjoyed the juice, but it was one of the dirtiest ones I've tried this year, behind only Want2Vape's Signature Blends. I got a little more than half a day of vaping before a large chunk of buildup appeared on the coils.

Full review and steeping notes here.

My only comment on all the FDA discussion is that if anyone doesn't think politics and tax revenue isn't a prime motivator for regulation then they are taking a naive position. The feds take in $80 billion/year on tobacco taxes. You think they're going to see that precious revenue stream dry up without taking action? I think not.

Amen brother!

Currently enjoying a vape 5 week old of Patriot in my iClear30, life is good.

I said "remind me" never to take a weekend off just last week...and nobody reminded me.

Took the fam on a mini vacation to San Diego this weekend and missed 14 pages. ALMOST glad I did, as I would have a great any opinions on these topics, most of which somebody else ended up posting. I cant deal with the stress anyways and I am not opening that discussion up again. A few quick catchup notes:

FP: I SHOULD know about Granpa's Night Cap, but I do not. I have yet to try QNJ at all. I am loaded with juices right now. I tend to test vendors out on all or most of their juices and one vendor at a time. Add a few (ideally) to my rotation, then next vendor is up. On the horizon...QNJ, MOV...then Maybe I will give Gandalf/Legend a whirl. Anyone wants to send me samples (hint hint) to save me time, tops on my untried list right now incluse rwhyqua4ro, Sunday Morning, Pendragon, Legend, Grandpas...

Mr. Mann: Interested to see prime on your list. Their "Nostaligia" was the first juice I ever tried when I advanced from cigalikes, purchased with a ego c twist from my local B&M. I said I wanted a full bodied tobacco soking experience and that is what they gave me. I just tried it again recently and it is way too sweet and syrupy and artificial for me. Just out of curiosity, what is the story on Prime Vaping's tobacco juices? They say "natural tobacco" but the Nostaligia aint like any net I have ever tasted.

What else is up with me?

Goodejuice sitting in my work mailbox! The VB will not be touched for a couple months. I have experienced it at 2-6 weeks...and even vaped quite a bit last night. Now I want a well aged steep before I go back there. I also am trying the Organic #1 for first time ever as well as GJ4. I realy like RY4 so I am pretty excited. I am slowly nursing my last 60 ml of BWB RY4 to see if I can make it last. I am very curious how this stacks up. What is recommended steep on GJ4 and Organic #1?

Oh, I have Old Toby on order from Moondrop. I am cautiously excited about this, so we shall see. I ordered over a week ago and haven't heard frm them since, so am a little pissy. I will leave this at that for now.

Oh, gave an extended look at NETCOM Balkan, cold macerated. Damn good stuff. If you like DD! you will like this. Very similar, but the latakia is tempered with a much more gentle touch and the Macedonia leaf lends a robust, yet smoothe factor that I haven't tasted in a juice before. It is a dry and satisfying vape that I can take adv, whereas I burn out on DD! after a little bit. This is damn good stuff, and for pipe smpokers a fairly accurate and authentic take on a Balkan blend. It is so similar to DD...and yet so different. More approachable for sure. Also has a VERY authentic "smoke" quality that is thrilling. I really dig this and likely will keep it on hand for some time moving forward.

I have been working through the latest scarfy juices too and will review soon. Damn interesting stuff and an honor to vape.

I love this thread

If by chance we end up having to circumvent online sells for eliquid, does everyone here have a plan for getting theirs? Any new DIY converts? Or, if you have no plan for circumventing the ban (if enacted) and you have no DIY desires, how long will your current stash hold you (not talking to you, Shatner. LOL)

While some DIY attempts are in my future, I'm glad I can hit GeJ and QnJ in about a 2 hour drive from home.

They're just soaks in PG with maybe some VG (maybe alcohol too? Dunno, but I know PG is a a part). Though they only have 8 NETs, I think what you experienced in oddity of flavor maybe from additional ingredients (at least in Nostalgia), or maybe how long or short they steep, and for me, how little actual tobacco flavor came through. In all honesty, I may actually like their liquids now as at that time, I was all about the Devil Dog!. Now, one thing I can say for PV is that AFAICT, their liquids were easy on coils. I think they just filter the life out of their extracts. It's a fine line between great performance and no tobacco body.
