It's a mystery! FWIW, W2V D&C told me that Campfire Coffee, Pure Smoke, Morley, RY4, and Smokey Clove were NET hybrids, while Rock Star does not have a NET base.

RPad,

I'll go with your info. It goes with what I always believed anyway---that Rock Star is made with synthetic tobacco flavoring. I'll remove Rock Star from the NET-based RY4 category group.

I love it when, without being told one way or another, it is just too damned hard to tell. Rock Star kinda had that TE taste to it (from what I remember).

Mr.M,

My palate is fairly sensitive to TA and TE. tobacco Absolute, with its oiliness and alcohol base, is usually easy for me to pick up and distinguish. tobacco Extract, which uses a PG base and has a more neutral, sort of "blunt" taste, is more difficult for me to identify, especially when used sparingly in a hybrid along with either an NET or a synthetic tobacco flavoring.

To me, Want2Vape RY4---both retail and DIY flavoring---tastes like a TA/TE/synth hybrid rather than a straight NET. Rock Star? I don't know.

Rock Star definitely has an odd flavor component. I think it's what boomerdude tasted as beer. For that matter, w2v RY4 doesn't have what I'd call a "standard" RY4 flavor profile. It's closer to normal than Rock Star, but they both lean toward the idiosyncratic side. I always assumed that the odd flavor note in both juices was probably from an unusual caramel flavoring. Either that or a very wonky vanilla.

All you fellow lovers of Blue Grass Burley... Give Bombay from N-E-T.com a try. Similar flavor profile, but a little more mellow and very slightly sweet. Smokey, earthy and just plain delicious. My favorite from N-E-T so far.

Bombay is very flavorful without being overbearing. I'm digging it too.

For what it's worth, when I get "odd flavor component," especially with a synthetic tobacco eliquids, I tend to accept them as an all-hands-on-deck approach to making a convincing, though 99% of the time off, tobacco. It's so hard to synthetically concoct a tobacco, but it's something about its otherness that for one reason or another, and maybe this is its true genius, it often times works as tobacco (even though it misses its mark). Maybe that made no sense, maybe it did, but I don't deal well with odd flavor components in straight-up desserts, drinks, fruits, etc., but with synthetic tobacco, I guess it's always going to be one of those situations relegated to "almost anything goes". Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but I am generally game to check it out.

Case in point: Analog Mild from w2v. That is one strange ... liquid IMO. To me it was TE based, but whatever that oddity of flavor it has, it is, quite frankly, intriguing to vape. For me it's like looking at a highly abstract, non-objective painting--sometimes the reference-less is more captivating than its easy-to-read counterpart, and oddly enough, can be almost more suggestive (especially when it has a leading-the-witness kinda title, i.e., Analog Mild. ;)).

I get cough medicine like Robitussin in Rockstar and I actually quite like it. Rygar, Rygar Mild, Ry4 and Rockstar seem to be in the same family. Rygar Mild almost tastes like a NET to me. A kind of smokey milder Ry4. I think Donley has it on the nose with Rockstar. Lighter brighter version of Ry4.

boomerdude,

You tasted beer flavoring in your sample bottle of Rock Star? OK, whatever. I agree that there's something unusual in the flavor profile, but my brain doesn't reach for beer to find a familiar association. What I taste is an atypical and slightly odd caramel, or perhaps a funky substitute for the vanilla. Here's want2vape's description from the Rock Star product page:

"Our twist on RY4. Tobacco, creamy caramel, and ? Lighter and brighter than our RY4,
but don't take that as meaning lightweight. Sweet, fresh and addicting."
I don't know what the question mark stands for, but I doubt that Donley would use either actual beer or beer flavoring for his mystery ingredient. LOL.

Of course, none of that matters. You taste what you taste, as we all do. If you taste beer, so be it. (Unless you absolutely love beer flavor, however, I doubt that you purchased more Rock Star after your sample bottle.)

Those sound absolutely divine Boomer. Green River Black Cavendish, and toasted Burley and Maple. Wow. I am also a fan of Kuba Kuba as I am with all Drew Estate cigar extractions.

You really ought to start up your own little buso my friend :)

Have you tried Want2Vape's Kuba Kuba ? I have had it sitting 'at the back of the pack' and with a sharpened appreciation for Drew Estate extractions of late I decided to try it again today. For a Kuba, it is spectacular. I like QnJ's Kuba as well but Want2Vape's is in another ballpark. Qnj's is a pleasing clean light profile of the Kuba Kuba and I could vape it all day. Perhaps that is where it's value lies.

Want2Vape's kuba is strong, raw essence. I feel like I've been smoking a cigar with W2v's KK. The taste continues to linger on the palate long after.

Want2vape just seem to be able to capture the raw essence of every cigar/pipe they extract and I would love to know what Donley and Vapenstein do differently to other vendors. Where is Vapenstein nowadays anyway? Does anyone know if he is extracting his own and if he is selling his extractions?

I would love for someone to extract Drew Estate's My Uzi Weighs a Ton.

Sometimes I wonder how much damage 50 yrs of smoking did to my taste buds. I tried a lot of RY4's both NET and Lab. Not a one did it for me. But I'm a happy camper with my own NET RY4. It has just the right balance of flavoring to tobacco with the TB out front, the way I like it. I buy one lab juice and a rotation of about 10 NET's that are really good and I can't duplicate no matter how hard I try. I think my Kuba-Kuba is better than Qnc but my Blondie not as good as W2V's. It's nice to be able to taste a lot of fine tobacco's and cigars without the lung damage.Today I'm vaping a rotation of five of my own. A nice Nat Sherman Dominican #2, Some Green River Black Cavendish with toasted Burley and Maple, Black Honey TB, Borkum Riff and 555. All on some JUK23 Dripping Atty's that I like for their simplicity. Life is good.

On the subject of W2v: I have Paris in the RSST and it's just incomparable. That's not to say it's the very best NET out there but there is nothing out there that can be compared. Once it starts to gunk that sublime flavour embued in the rich ashy Euro-cigarillo constitution which makes Paris would starts to diminish and give way to the flat BBQ ashy taste. But on clean coils, it's something to behold for those who like a NET that is genuine.

Paris wouldn't be Paris if it didn't gunk.

Just keep it away from non-rebuidables. That would be like pouring glue into your atomisers.

I am vaping TPRs Smooth & Mild right now and while I am most certain it's synth, it's a quality "tobacco" of sorts and any other issues with origins of ingredients matters not (it kinda reminds me of Tobacco Haze).

You digging the Smooth & Mild Mann? According to Luce, Andrea said to him that S&M and Arctic Cowboy are TPR's only purely synth baccos. The rest are synth, NET, TE, and/or TA. Arctic Cowboy had a synth flavor I recognized, but S&M didn't have an obvious arti-bacco flavor to me, though it didn't come across as a NET neither. I loved it, whatever it may be, though I was halfway through the bottle before it really clicked.

I only had the one bottle many, many months ago, but I can still remember how it tasted. I've been waiting for Andrea to release some new NETs before ordering again, but since that's not happening I plan on ordering just for Smooth & Mild. Maybe.. maybe, some more Honey-Fig tobacco and M Type w/ Natural tobacco.

It'll be a while; I have 30+ bottles in my current rotation and 40+ bottles waiting for their turn. I suck at ignoring what I want while enjoying what I have. Juice freeze.. 6 weeks! No excuses!

Flagship? Yeah, the S.S. Nasty

Oh pooh on all this banana rubbishing. I have the highest respect for CC and vape some nearly every day. I also have Proudest Monkey, Congo Craze, and the new GEJ banana shisha that I haven't tried yet. Plus old standby HHV Vapin' Chimp.

I LOVE BANANABACCO AND I AM NOT ASHAMED TO SAY SO!

I would love to try an extract of Nat Sherman Dominican No.2. I watched a review on the cigar and derived this:

It's a new blend with a Honduran wrapper, Dominican binder with a mix of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. Apparently it has cedar and espresso notes and some dark chocolate and nutmeg. It scored 93 points by cigar afficianado in 2010. (The Cohiba Behike 52 was ranked 1st that year)

Boomer: Have you ever tried the actual cigar and do you get a faithful approximation of the flavour on the extract?

In addition to those, I also have to wash bottles.

Frustration and head-banging reign when I tried Cavendish. The best I could do was Green River Black and Dark Fired Burley with Maple. I had no luck with processed tobacco, caked, pressed or otherwise. Using straight up blending tobaccos works best for me.

After more than two years as the CEO and Janitor of The Really Big RY4 Roundup thread,

I have days where I think, "If I have to vape even one more RY4 ever again, it's too soon." But it's my job, so I keep at it.
The three macerations I've cooked all aimed at making a good, solid, all-natural cigarette extract: Skydancer Native American NET, Nat Sherman MCD NET, and American Spirit Organic NET. I'm both shocked and thrilled at how good they are. Next up for me will be a nice Black Cavendish pipe tobacco.

Yeah, vaping is definitely one of the major factors on the "life is good" side of my teeter-totter. That's especially wonderful, given how much smoking jumped up and down on one side, then the other.

Well you can do a review of my KK when you get it, along with all the others.

I don't really have much interest in a business. I'm afraid it would take all the fun out of DIY and extracting.

I have not tried W2V KK but their Blonde is exquisite. Save a little of W2V's KK and compare it to mine. I tried Qnc's KK and prefer mine.

I extract from the cigar but my smoking days are over and it wasn't around in my cigar smoking time.

What's good from them? Any suggestions, anyone?

Southern Gentleman: very complex, flavorful blend of several tobaccos, slight sweet.
Apache: English Pipe. Like Devil Dog and London but tamed down a bit.
Pendragon: Mild pipe tobacco with cherry and vanilla.
Sunday Morning: Dark tobacco with coffee and cream flavoring. Slight coffee and some sweet.
Full Virginia Flake RY4: Creamy RY4 with medium tobacco. One of the best RY4s IMO.
Hey Jack: Mild tobacco with maple flavoring in high VG base.

All 6 are good, just depends on your tastes.

MOV only runs the 25% off every couple of months. The 3 packs of 15 mls or 30 mls are their best deals.
