Never smoked, but I want to try vaping.

Well to the OP, thanks for coming back and reading what we had to say. I don't mean to be harsh, and I hope you didn't take things that way. I just really hate to see someone, especially an athlete, taking up vaping when it may not be a good idea, I never recommend vaping to a non smoker and especially in your case, I'm glad you asked the question and listened to the answers.

Good luck, and good luck with your rowing career! :)

Wow, I didn't expect so many replies in this thread, I don't even know where to start.

Seeing that most of your replies are advising me not to start vaping, I think that the most reasonable thing to do it's not to start vaping (even that I still want to do it, but .... it, my health is more important).

Thank you for taking the time to read the responses and use them constructively in making your own life choices. There are times questions like this come up and there's a tendency to get a little strident about it, but it is in no way meant to beat you up, only to give you insight from folks who have been there and made some lousy choices along the way. I'm glad you took the time to investigate vaping before jumping in, as plenty of folks don't.

I'm a 18 year old boy, I do a lot of sport, specifically rowing. I train 7 days a week, sometimes more than one training per day. I've never smoked cigarettes, and never will. Want to try vaping, I recently tried (without nicotine) and I liked it. So my question is: Which are the risks in health of vaping (without nicotine)? And also, I'm almost sure that vaping will do some impact in my performance in rowing, but how big it is? Does any one know the impact of vaping in cardio?

I already know that the rational choice is not to vape at all, but I think that vape will be more healthy than occasionally going out a weekend and drink half a bottle of Vodka, or stuff myself out of McDonalds or some similar .....

PD: Sorry if something is mispelled, English is not my first language.

Lungs are not like our digestive system, while you may be able to flush out whatever vodka and mcd you consume, lungs don't have that mechanism at most the sputum/mucus during infections. Now I would suggest take a vape device from a friend take a piece of tissue paper and use it like a filter on the drip tip and then vape as one would. Most of the liquid out there is colored, do let me know what that white piece of tissue paper looks like once you are done where it was exposed to the vape. Now I must ask you where do you think all that ends up and how do you imagine it will ever leave your lungs? That is my answer to you sir. Vaping is an alternate to smoking, anyone who does it otherwise should have no reason to do it. If I could go back in time and tell myself not to smoke I would.

I know we that were smokers would like it if no one picked up either the smoking or vaping habit but I personally don't think scare tactics and possible misinformation is the way to go. I can't say anything about the e-liquid you buy in Pakistan but I have to disagree with the statement that most of the liquid is colored.

The way it is written it sounds like you are saying coloring is added to it. I bought pre-made e-liquid for a couple of years but have been making my own for at least 4 years. I never add any coloring to my mixes but as it ages it will start changing. A well aged e-liquid will end up various shades of brown, yellow, amber and a few other colors but the color isn't caused by adding something other than flavoring, pg/vg and in some/most cases nicotine. This change is caused by the bonding of the ingredients. If one was to see a green, blue or even purple e-liquid then one could assume that coloring had been added. I personally have never seen those colors.

I have actually done the tissue test and all I get on the tissue is a bit of moisture. Try that with a cigarette and it will be a different story. that brown color you see on the tissue with that test is the tar caused by burning tobacco.

I do understand where you are coming from though and like you if I could go back in time I would try to convince myself not to pick up the habit to begin with. I am just thankful that vaping is here now for us that weren't able to put the smokes down for good any other way. There are young folks starting out on the smoking road every day. Hopefully they will chose vaping instead. I truly do believe that it will be much easier to quit vaping than it is to quit smoking and there is no doubt in my mind that vaping is much less harmful.

I'm not asking permission to anybody here, and if it seems that I'm doing that it isn't my intention at all, just want to know if vaping is a "safe" bet or not.
It's safer than smoking, which we all know is very bad. Most of us are here because we were smokers and found vaping to be the way for us to stop smoking. It is impossible to say for certain if vaping is "safe", it has only been around for about ten years. We vapers are the Guinea pigs in a big experiment.
