i see nothing wrong with vaping being a non smoker, and i dont understand why people have a hard time with it.
Well, come on, most of the folks here are ex-smokers who--in general--regret the hell out of the decision to pick up smoking. I don't want anybody to do what I did. It was stupid of me. I wish I could go back in time and slap the cig outta my mouth.
(Very time travelly kind of stuff. A disembodied hand reaching outta the void to smack me when I lit up. Freak myself out.

)
Like Flex here is a non-smoker. The thought of him picking up a nic addiction gives me the willies. It's a Bad Thing. Been there, done that.
Of course my opinion is "don't go there".
Addiction is not a thing to be played with in general. If somebody asked you if they should get mixed up with <insert any highly addictive, illegal street drug here>, would you say, "Sure! Why not?" I doubt you would.
Nicotine is
highly addictive. You're not just making a decision that will have an effect on next week, it's a decision that can effect the
entire rest of your life. I haven't quit nicotine. I don't think I can. Ever. There are hints in the literature I've run into that there are some of us that have a predisposition to a permanent addiction to nicotine. That we can never quit. That's one
major decision I made back when I was young and stupid (stupider?). I had no idea.
And once I figured out what I had done, it was too late.
Now, this is just a web forum. We can't actually make anybody do anything. But when people ask, what should we say? "Nicotine is great! I love it! Try some!" Well, it
is great. It triggers dopamine. That's great stuff. We're talking about manipulating one of the most fundamental, crucial neurotransmitters humans have. You got outta bed this morning because dopamine. Know that feeling of "accomplishment" you get when you complete a task? That's dopamine. Feel better about yourself because of something you did? Dopamine. It's the brass ring of neurotransmitters. It's the "win" chemical in the brain. See an athlete dancing in the end zone over a touch down? Dopamine. Politician ecstatic over winning an election? Dopamine. Feel that, "ah, that's nice" feeling after cutting the lawn? Dopamine.
That's why it's so addictive. How many times does a smoker inhale in a day? Each one is a little "reward". Hit after hit after hit after... until it's possible the natural production of dopamine is actually damaged. Which would explain the depression and listlessness people get during nicotine withdrawal (and why some of us may never be able to quit nicotine).
This is just a web forum. I ain't gonna advise somebody to make a life changing decision. I'm just not that wise.
If I were wise, I would never have started smoking to begin with...
