Well congrats on starting down the road. There's no reason to worry about how high a concentration of nic you need to stop smoking now is. You need what you need, you'll work your way down after you've been away from the smokes for a while. I think 12 mg would make the most sense. If you need higher you might, and I stress might, find nic salts smoother, but when I stopped it was with a 24 mg nic. I didn't lower it for over 6 months and then it was a pretty smooth down to my now 3-6 mg juices. And that was before salts, but with a device that put out less vapor, more like using that 1.4 ohm coil you have.

When you're trying to stop smoking with vaping it might not be an instant hit on " this is perfect for me". It may take some playing around. Almost everyone goes through that so don't get discouraged. The fact you've already reduced your cigarette intake is a good first sign to reinforce that it can work.

I'm going to add one bit of advice. Don't have only that one Nord. If it runs down and you can't find Z spot to recharge, or you lose it, or it just plain breaks, have a second one around. Same for the coils and pods. A few extra are insurance for you. You don't want to be in a situation where things are going well, but something happens, you can't vape, and you end up buying a pack of cigarettes. Backups are really helpful and it sounds like what you're using seems to be working for the beginning.

Or...probably more effective...just switch to MTL on the 1.4 coil...

(The vape will be cooler...and that may help your irritated throat.)

You gotta' remember that there are 4000+ chemicals (many carcinogenic) in cigarette smoke...but only nicotine in ejuice...

If you hang around ECF for awhile...you'll run across posts with links to studies showing that nicotine may even be...healthful...

..

Interesting so the larger number coil the cooler the vape that’s good to know! Thank you! The only reason I worry about nicotine is my ultimate goal of being a momma one day. Smoking anything generally is a no no and I wouldn’t want to risk any harm to any of my kids. I’ve also been doing keto to lose weight so I’m a healthy weight range too for when I want to start a family.

That is a very good point about needing a second device the nord was not expensive at all and the thought of having a backup would be good for not caving and buying cigs. So far I still have the same pack I purchased on Thursday morning I’m hoping it’s my last pack in total and I’ll keep you guys updated on when I smoke my last one. I appreciate everyone’s help! I love it and feel so welcomed and appreciate the advice I am receiving. You all are making things seem easier than me reading articles and blogs online. That had my head spinning haha

Unless you're planning to start a family in the next few months, don't worry about the nic. Get as far away from the cigarettes as you can. Then you can work your way down in concentration. By then it will be easier because the nic absorption from vaping is a bit longer than from cigarettes making weaning a more tolerable process. And you'll be more motivated the closer you are to having your first child to wean off. It might be heretical to say in here (no one throw things as me) but you could even transition to a nicotine gum for a bit to complete the process off of vaping. The act of puffing on something like a cigarette makes vaping easier to transition off cigs, but you still need to break the hand to mouth and seeing smoje/vapor blow out as well. There are a lot of tools available, and they're all good so long as they work.

HI there - wishing you good luck and it sounds like you are on your way to success. I smoked Marlboro 100s --I think they were gold then - full flavor non-menthol. The smooths I think are menthol?

As others are saying everyone is different so you have to find what works for you. My goal was to stop smoking regular cigs. There is so much out there about how much nicotine is absorbed or not and honestly that was not my top concern because there is just so much other junk in regular cigs. I just wanted to stop smoking regular cigs.

I did not cut down --I just stopped 100% the day I started vaping. Some folks taper off - some stop right away. I was a pretty heavy smoker - more in the 2 pack a day range - and if I continued to smoke while I vaped I do not think I would have been successful but that's just me --all or nothing.

I was very clueless as well when I first started and used awful store bought junk at first. If I knew then what I know now (thanks to this forum)-- here's what I'd recommend trying.

Try the .6coil (subohm) with 12mg juice. You could buy 2 juices - stronger like an 18 and weaker at 3mg so you can mix together in different ratios to get the right nic level for you.

When I got off the store bought junk I started with 12mg and a .5 coil and I liked it a lot. Most recommend that if you are going to vape a lot at the subohm level to go down to 6 pretty quickly and I did. Your body will let you know.

I have not used the nic salts so I do not know too much about them. I got a little turned off by the Juul which used salts because of all the bad press. I started at 50 nic which is high but it was different equipment and now I am down to 3. From what I've read the nic salts are better suited for those desiring a very strong (but smooth) throat hit and for those that do not have success with regular freebased juices but again everyone is different. Since you use menthol I think you can get a decent hit with the menthol e juices.

I read you intend to have children down the road, Nicotine, whether from e-cigs or regular ones - has been linked to SIDS so you would want to keep decreasing your nic until you get to zero in my opinion.

Good luck and congrats on your progress so far. Keep us posted!

Recent quitter/vaper too. 3 weeks in fact. 6mg nowhere near what I needed. I was climbing the walls. 12 is ok - I needed to step up at times to 18 this week.
MTL I'm learning but I did need the throat hit. From what Ive (newly) found out salt has none - what works for your brother will not necessarily work for you and DLT is a big ask - take your time and find your best fit. Theres no rush - you gave up the cigs. Well done.

Just my :2c: of course...but...first I'd decide what kind of vaper I'd want to start as...

Mouth-To-Lung...draw vape into mouth then inhale into lungs...or...Direct Lung...inhale vape directly into lungs...

(Most smokers are Mouth-To-Lung.)

The 1.4 coil is made for MTL...the .6 coil is for DL...

Then...second...chose a nicotine or nicotine-salt level...and just increase it until you find satisfaction...

Me personally...as a 1-2 pack/day smoker...I started at nicotine 6mg....then moved to 12mg...where I discovered satisfaction...

(I've never tried nicotine-salts...they're just too expensive for my tastes.)

..
I also am not a huge salts fan. The problem with them is there are many kinds of salts, they are all referred to simply as salts, and only one kind has been studied. That particular kind is only in the juul and has been patented so it’s the only one that even has the single salts type that has been studied. I did try salts, and found that while there was reduced throat hit I still coughed just as much as if the throat hit was there. Also it made my lungs feel heavy. I’m personally sticking with the well studied regular nic until the industry works out it’s issues.
24mg regular nic Still works fine in MTL devices. I vaped that stuff for years.

Maybe I’m just one of those paranoid old men.

Thank you all again! Also on this site is the shop now website legit online shopping for products like this sometimes worries me, but living in a rural area online would be more convenient.
I do all my vape shopping online. If you are not sure of a site post the name and someone on here should know if they are legit or not.

Personally speaking, my go to online shops are: 101 vapes, My Vape Store (MVS), and eciggity for hardware; Giant Vapes, Plume Room, and a few other private vendors for eliquid. If there is a holiday, such as President's Day, Valentine's Day, etc. they will run incredible discounts that you can take advantage of.

One bit of advice that I missed initially on my journey-- Be prepared for the outrageous sales on Black Friday. One can almost stock up for the year at this time.

Also, I don't know what your flavor preference is, but the juices from Halo ecigs played an important part in getting me off the stinkies.

There are many reputable online vendors available. There is a section farther down the list of what seems like hundreds of subforums that has a whole bunch of forum approved vendors, both in the US and some overseas. There are also lots of others out there so you can always check here on opinions and experience with vendors. I'd say almost everyone on this forum gets almost all their stuff online, for both convenience, selection, and price. Local vape shops can be great (or not) and having something nearby beats staring out the window looking out for the postal delivery, but we're all really good at following multiple tracking numbers and have shipping routes down by heart at this point.
