Did this a short while back and already received a response from my Senator's office last week. The reply did not address anything I mentioned in my note, but only touted the positive aspects of the bill regarding where the revenue generated will go (which by itself I certainly don't disagree with, rather I disagree with how the revenue is proposed to be generated).

Granted, it was just a generic form letter with my name inserted at the top, but I definitely don't feel my opinions were even considered given that none of the points I raised were addressed in any way . . . not that I ever had any faith in our politicians, anyway  I mean how hard could it have been to use the form letter and just insert a short statement at least acknowledging the particular points I object to. It would have taken a whole 2 minutes for some assistant or secretary to do so just to at least show me that my voice is heard

To KillJoy -- It isn't the "quality" of what you say in a letter to your congressman that matters. He/She doesn't read those letters anyway. Their staff simply goes through them "quickly" and "records" yehs or nays. What gets their attention is the final "number" of "contacts" (phone, email, etc) they get on one side or another of an issue. It's all about their reelection - not about what's right for the people.
