I have a question:
I realize that every wrap can turn out a little bit differently. It takes just a *tweak* to adjust for shorts of any kind. A short can produce symptoms such as a lack of vapor and even a lack of flavor. Correct?
With that said. Why would a *short* reduce the flavor? I understand how it could reduce vapor, but not flavor. I do not have a short of any kind in my DID right now, and I'm in 7th heaven. But, what about my next wrap... what if ... omg... what if I lack flavor because of a dumb short. Where would this short most likely be located? Is it one of the more difficult to find shorts?
A troubleshooting video would be cool too.![]()
Uma, as far as I can tell, I would say a short likely reduces the surface being heated by the coil, and concentrates the burn in one small area. Since coil burn has been reduced, your receiving less vaporized juice, and less flavor, coupled with the harsh burnt flavor being generated in the short area. I can tell if I have a short, by taste and feel almost instantaneously now. Also I think you'll know you have a short by taste and harshness. Examine your coil, is one small area glowing hot? Do you find juice shooting out sidewise? These are signs of a short. First defense, a needle adjustment of coil, second defense, adjust wick to make sure it is not contacting center pole. All else fails, re-oxidize wick, rebuild coil. Have noticed 75% of time first two methods work well.
