I HAVE MY POST!!!! HALLELUJAH!

(oh and it looks SWEET in SS)

View attachment 125458

I am doing happy dances all around my livingroom while vaping heavy on my DID!
And no i had not lost my coil building touch yet because 5 minutes after i kissed the postman i had put the DID back together and made a perfect 1.9 ohm coil with no hotspots! 1/3 of a tank empty already (yes starting to get a headrush!)

THANK YOU JIM! :toast:

SWEEEET!!
Can't wait to pick up the new ones now.
and to be able to coil in under 5 hours let alone 5 minutes! You go girl!

What device are you using and measuring it on Tarkvemada? What do your coils measure out at, and what voltage are you vaping it at?
Thanks for your respond.. The majority is too excited to answer the question..
I use Provari. Wick ( made of 1/2 piece mesh provided by Jimi) fits perfectly the wick hole with no spaces around, 5 wraps of kanthal 32, 1.6 ohm reading, vaping on 3.3V - 3.5V. the filling hole screw is removed for the better wicking. No shorts or hot spots, no errors.. But no flavor neither..

That seems odd to me. 5 wraps around a fat wick and you're getting 1.6Ω? Using the same materials I can't get a coil below 2.2Ω with a 4/5 wrap. Anyone have an answer to this? Seems like something is off here.

That measurement seems a bit low. Mine measures out at around 2.5 or so with 5 wraps. Are you sure you have your coil grounded properly at the bottom and the top two nuts tight around the wire?!

the wire on the bottom goes in contact with the bottom until touching the wick and then goes around it. The top brass nuts is tight as much as I can tighten it. it's 4/5 wraps to be accurate. The wire on the positive is very short- the wick is very close to the brass nuts, but doesn't touching it.

That does sound like a short somewhere. I'm running 34 dual coil and coming in at 2.2ohm. If you're not seeing any hot spots (all coils glow evenly) I'd look for contact between the bottom of the wick/tank, make sure the top of wick doesn't extend beyond the top of center post (so it doesn't touch the top cap) and maybe twist out the wick and reoxidize (especially the area in the wick hole). Shorts to tank won't show as a problem with the coil.

Hi all, I'm eagerly awaiting the despatch of my DID and then I will be eagerly awaiting the delivery...lol.

So in the meantime I thought I had better get some stock of mesh and wire in.
I know that Jim sends some mesh etc with the DID but after reading some of the problems people have had in getting this thing set-up properly I just know that I am going to need these supplies...nothing worse than having a new gadget and not being able to use it (as you have used up all the wire).

I have read many many times in this thread of people using Kanthal A1 32 wire but would Kanthal D 0.2 be just as good or is it a no-go ?

Try loosening the top nut a hair. It might be too tight and crimping the electrical current.

Kanthal D Resistance Wire

A-1 and D differ in high temp threshold (I think A-1 is ~1200 deg and D is ~1300 deg - don't quote me on those numbers) but both are used for coils. 0.2 = 32awg and is common gauge for wrapping.

From what info I've gathered, it really doesn't make a difference as far as we vapers are concerned. I've got stuff ranging from Kanthal D to A/A1. Sure it all works about the same in our RBA applications.

Edit: Cloud Wizard beat me to it :). But yes, .20 is 32 awg, no matter the specific type of Kanthal

Many thanks guy's...a little shopping to be done now I think.

Also, before I finish the shopping...lol...those same guy's also have steel mesh but it's 300 and not 325 or 400...any good ??
Folks are using anywhere from 270 to 400. I use 325 or 400 with similar results. Key is to make sure it's t-304 (food grade) or t-316 (medical grade) stainless steel.

Does the included free shipping on the DiD include a tracking number?
And I ordered but didn't sign up to the site, will I get an email for a tracking number?

Oh no! Gasp!! you didn't sign up?.. wow.

Relax, you'll be fine. As long as your contact and shipping information is correct, it'll get to you in about 2 weeks after it ships. Tracking is included but it's not really that detailed. Mine shipped out on the 31st of July, and it hit Mississauga this morning. If all goes through well with customs etc, I could have the full size DID tomorrow morning.
