I just wanted to chime in with a recommendation for the reo. or even the reo mini. Its small enough to fit your uniform pockets and little to break in a tumble.

I personally use ego type batteries and while there is nothing wrong with them and I recommend them to a lot of people - they can be too long for a pocket and if you get a tank - the tank can easily break if you drop your e cig (ask me how I know)

The reo will also give you a very long lasting battery and spares are small and also easily carried if you find you need extra (just be sure to get a plastic battery box as loose batteries are dangerous if the connect with metal in your pocket).

First I'd like to thank you for keeping all of us safe! :) I have a lot of respect for everybody in law enforcement. My future brother in-law is also in law enforcement and vapes also!

From my experience I would recommend ego twists. They work very well, fairly durable and have a variety of capacity choices. They are also very inexpensive. They are about the diameter of a sharpie marker, length varies with the mah you choose. They are variable voltage so adjust to your preferred vape. These would probably work best, but might be a little long to throw in the vest.

Another option, which I think has been mentioned is standard ego batteries. They are not variable voltage but you can compensate with low resistance clearos/cartos. Just stay away from dual coil cartos, as they just don't have enough jam to run them as well.

They also have "mini" ego batteries. I don't have any yet, but are very short!

As far as what to use as a juice delivery system there are a LOT of options! Most have been mentioned - Vivi Nova, Stardusts, Kanger T2, Smoktech cartos, Boge cartos, carto tanks. I prefer clearos, mainly stardusts and vivi nova. I do use cartos too, but prefer clearos - easier to change flavors and clean! Unfortunately this is what you will have to try for yourself and decide what you like!

Another thing I think would be helpful is always try have 2 batteries and clearos/cartos with you at all times. Maybe pick up a twist and an ego mini as a backup? That may not be possible for you, but even if you can have the backup in the car. Just in case something quits on you! I'd grab both a home and car charger.

There are a lot of great options out there! My all day pv is a Smoktech telescopic mod with the evolve kick. . Its a wonderful mod!! Fits easily in my pocket, but is quite a bit larger in diameter than an ego.

As far as where to get gear in Canada, all of the vendors I've used have been fantastic! My preferred vendor is Canvape. They have A LOT of selection and great prices! Great service too!

Hope you find something that works well for you! :)

Hi and welcome!

Ok, your issue with cigalikes (aka 510's) will be the run time. At best, figure you will get an hours use from a cig size battery - give or take a (very) little depending on size and manufacturer. For a 1.5 PAD smoker this will be a problem as one or two - or four - charged batteries won't see you through a shift. There's nothing more frustrating for a vaper - especially when new to this - than dead batteries when you REALLY need to vape.

Assuming you are working out of a patrol car, workaround #1 for this would be using a car charger. Is that possible without causing you a problem with your job?

Workaround #2 is making sure you take enough cig size batteries with you to get you through an entire shift. That could be up to half a dozen. Joyetech makes a 510 charger that can recharge up to ten 510 batteries at a time. That would be your end of shift charger, where you could drop all your depleted batteries in a single charging station all at once. It's not an expensive charger either. I'll drop you a URL to a site (non Canadian) that carries that charger if you want to see it.

Bigger battery is always going to equal longer run times. If you moved up to the eGo class batteries, say in 1000 mAh capacity, it's most likely a single battery would get you through an entire shift. You would take two as insurance and could do without any concern about depleted batteries and need to charge while working. Sure, they are bigger - some times referred to as 'pen size' - but they aren't so large as they would draw attention on the job. I can palm an entire Ego battery so that only the cartomizer is visible.

When it comes to durability keep it simple: If you went for eGo size don't get the variable voltage eGo Twist. It has a variable pot on the end to change voltage and one drop onto a hard surface has been known to send a Twist into pieces. Most of this stuff doesn't like hard 'play' so no one can promise any battery will hold up to your particular job. But excess things like tanks that have been mentioned, vv Twist batteries etc. are definitely more prone to failing and breaking if they get dropped and banged around.

And don't forget the Canadian sub-forum! Lot's of very helpful folks there, all dealing with the annoyances of your health care system. I don't know why you sensible Canadians fell off the map when it came to e-cigs! lol Once your post count is over 5 you can post there too.

Vaping is easy! You are dealing with the hardest part of the process right now: Making a sensible first purchase based on your needs and wants. Best wishes and congrats on the kiddo.

hi and welcome to ECF,

I have mainly used tube mods, but I also have a reo mini, and it is awesome. On top of the fact it fits the bill for looking nothing like a cig, it is the only thing I have that I can toss in a pocket or my purse and not have to worry about. A friend of mine who is on the forum here is a truck driver with many different mods, and his reo ground is his go to.

And if you look at the reo site, let me promise you they are no where as big as they seem by the pictures. My mini is 8.1 mm long, 4 mm wide and 2 mm thick.

The reso is a great suggestion, I love mine. The fact that it holds 3 or 6ml of juice inside is helpful. Keep a spare shorty carto and a spare battery somewhere that you can get to like in the car) and you are set for a day. All mechanical, so water etc won't wreck it. I would bet there is a belt add on for your duty belt that would keep it handy. Or, a solid built tube mod in a flashlight holder. Some of them could easily be used to smack bad guys around if needed

I would get a Reo, since they are practically indestructible. Your battery and a spare one and you are set. It is somewhat expensive, but definitely worth it. Take a look on the Reos Mods section here on the forum: Reos Mods

PVs with a reputation of being durable (dropping, running over with a truck) REO, Silver Bullet, GLV are just a few.

Of the 3, I agree with previous poster that the Reo would be an excellent choice. It is pocketable, square like a pack of cigs instead of round like a flashlight, good battery life, carry enough juice on board to get through a day without topping off. Machined from a block of aircraft aluminum, they take a licking and keep on ticking. Added bonus, it doesn't look like some new-fangled crack pipe (which is what people are usually worried about when considering a PV that isn't a cig-alike).

Stick styles have their place, I used them for a few months. What I found was that I was sick of swapping batteries out every hour and a half. I realized I had to swap out batteries at least 6 - 8 times a day.

Hi there, new around this wheel thing...and completely lost.

Been smoking for about 16 years....when I went in the army to serve in the reserve armed forces a long time ago...

Now serving as a cop and still smoking. About 1.5 pack a day...from what i've read so far, I must stay away from cig look alike....but still lost in what my options are. Got a baby underway and I'd really love quitting for good not to show bad habit...and to save some bucks....and stay around for a while to see the kid grow...

The special thing is I'm cop and I carry my pack of smoke around on the job for 10 hour shifts...so the unit I'll be going for either need to be pretty tough or be into some hard cover casing to survive a day on the job: jumping fences, running after bad guys and sometimes the grappel and ground fighting that may happen even if you rpefer not to...and also need survivability battery wise cause I don't have access to much power source while on patrol in squad car.

Thanks for the help.

Volt X2 probably a 900 mah or more if u smoked heavily......a lanyard to wear it (around your neck) under uniform shirt and over a teeshirt (in between, yup) ......u can plug it into a computer usb 2.0 port to charge it up at night, or a wall adapter.

Smokeless Image carries them. They also sell cartomizers, either filled or blanks. Clearomizers too but would look kinda funny being a cop and seeing the juice in public.
