That's not my review. I just found it and linked to it. I am very disappointed in this VTmaxR. I had originally planned to test the VTR for inclusion in a clinical trial for smoke cessation. My plan is to pit mall sticks (disposables), eGos, eVics, and a box mod (the eVics will give us usage statistics as well). My hypothesis is that efficacy as smoking cessation tool depends on device performance. We plan to submit this as a grant to the FDA and/or NIH. So I set out to test some of the devices and signed up for the co-op, but that is fairly unfriendly group of people and they kicked me out. Anyway, I will now explore the MVP as a box mod to be included in the grant proposal for the trial. I very much doubt the VTR would be useful for most people.

Sounds like great work you're doing there, Armadillo
Def go with the MVP...this VTR is nothing more than a "Vanity" mod.

I got mine today as well. I've been vaping it for about an hour now and here are a few of my thoughts.

Pros:

--It's definitely well made. Solid.
-- Quick. I can switch between volts and watts very quickly
-- Both the Kanger Protank and Protank 2 fit w/o the included cone.

Ok now the cons.

Cons:

-- Super heavy. It's got a smaller profile, but it's a beast to carry around.
-- Leaking around the lock wheel. I'm not sure why this wheel is here. It's free spinning, but not threaded so it doesn't raise or lower to meet various tanks. I used both the PT1 and PT2 and they both have residue on the wheel. I'm not sure at this point that the residue will leak onto your hand with extended vaping. I'll post that after an evening or two with the mod.

-- Both the PT1 and 2 wiggle a bit on the post. That's not really a huge problem with the ring that holds the tank, but I didn't expect any play in the connection. Maybe that's why there's leaking around that wheel.

I'm not really bothered by the heft or lack of a battery checker, but the wiggle room and leakage around the base wheel make me a little wary about it. It feels really good in my hand and is easy to vape from, but I'm not sure that I can see my walking around with this monster.

Anyway, this is just my initial impression and my own personal opinions, so YMMV.

If this is the wrong spot for this I apologize.

How do you hold it? And how do you fire the button? Which finger?

Well, I'm left handed and I've been holding it in my left hand, tank facing me and using my index finger to fire it up. I've found that if I have my hand cover it completely it covers the air flow too much and tightens up the draw too much. Feels really comfortable now.

I can fire either with the tank facing me using my middle finger or the tank away using my thumb. I really like the side button. Was not a fan of the location on my MVP. I have and like both. While a fingerprint magnet, with the Protank 2 it feels more like a medical device to me. I do not think it is as utilitarian but for a device I intend to use every day for a long time, I like the feel of it.

Have you tried it with the iclear30S? If so, how does it wick?
I have a vtr on the way so I'm curious

I liked the iclear30s. Had tried the iclear 16 that came with my mvp2 and was not really impressed. I have never tried the standard iclear30, so do not have a comparison to that. The draw was good, and it seemed pretty well done. Generally do not use anything but glass anymore, but the polycarb tank looks well built. The atomizer does not appear to be rebuildable, but I did not mess with it too hard since I figured I would not be able to get the replacements readily yet. The knuckle style tip was a first for me, and I liked it also.

Two things I wish about the iclears. First, they included an extra atomizer or two, and that you could remove the top and fill while the tank is still mounted to the body. I know the Kanger Unitank is rolling out, but will have to see if one comes available that will do this.

I love my VTR! It feels really solid!!! At first I just screwed my T3S into it with an ego adapter, but that just looked silly. Lol. Using the cone now. The only two con's right now for me is that I really wish it displayed battery voltage and I wish my Puritank fit in the slot without using the adapter cone. Neither of which are a big deal really as this thing is too beastly to take out in public anyway! :)

Well, it's now been 7 days since I ordered from Fairy Gift on 25th on the promise that they had their stock and would dispatch immediately via DHL 3 day.

On 27th 'Justin' said it had "alreadyshipped out via DHL".

According to the tracking number, which I've had since 30th, its status is "Shipment information received" - which means it has not even been picked up.

Fairy Gift lied. Badly.

I'm half expecting it's not even going to get into DHL's hands until 7th.

My experience with getting things from hong kong or over seas is the tracking sometimes won't even update until it is at your door.

A few things though:
1) Other people's DHL tracked properly with all stages
2) My record wasn't created until 30th, so DHL weren't even engaged until then
3) It should be at my door now according to the offer made
