Are the nickel coils from kanger made in the new style? (Vertical, larger holes etc.)
From the pictures, they appear to have that seam where the top third is pressed in as opposed to the seamless type of new vertical construction. My guess is no.

*update, no. FF to 1:25

Youde makes Clapton wire, called "Coaxial Kanthal", but I haven't tried it, yet.

Found some here for 11.99 per 16ish feet.

Coaxial Kanthal

Think I might check it out. Bought some of the Youde twisted 30 gauge (3 round wires, 1 ribbon wire). It's great but it pops a lot. Fun to experiment with it. Got me to start twisting my own. This might prompt me to build some claptons!

One other thing....I did notice on the part of the airflow base that is inside the tank it looked like there was some corrosion but upon a closer look it appeared to be paint overspray. The knurled ring to change the airflow was also really tight to twist, also probably from having the thickness of an extra coat of paint on it.

And if you look really closely at both the tank and the mod, they are different shades of white. The tank itself is closer to a pure white while the mod's shade of white is a little bit closer to an ivory white.

It is my belief that just the tank is of an aqueous (electrolytic, not sprayed) ceramic coating. When I had the box apart, there were signs of overspray that lead me to believe it was painted.

While it has been contended as of what metal is used for the tank, I'm just about positive it is stainless steel. I deal with many different metals in my industry and have come to recognize certain color hue characteristics associated with them. It is also the belief of one of my machinist friends.

I've been experimenting with the new RBA mini plus. Different coils, varying the amount and placement of the cotton. Like the stock pre-built coils (old style or new), I expected to see bubbles coming from the large holes on the RBA. However, regardless of coil type or wicking method, I'm seeing bubbles coming from where the little screw holds the chimney to the base. Has anyone else seen this? Bubbles need to come up from somewhere. I just didn't expect them to come from there.

I was wondering if that screw slot was going to be completely sealed off or not. Even to the point of filing on if there were still wicking issues. Whether intended, design flaw, or happy accident, sounds like it helps displace that pesky air for better wicking ability?

*edit* Upon closer observation, the slot is positioned above the o-ring. Have you or anybody else anybody noticed how the deck o-ring barely makes contact with the (cylinder?) Maybe another happy accident.

Well as far as I can tell, that's the only place I see bubbles coming from. So maybe it's by design. o_O
