Hey all,

I think I must be missing something since I seam to have constant problems. Not sure if my expectations are too high or I am doing something wrong. I have a VV tube and a twist that I use most of the the time. What my problem is figuring out the delivery systems.

Cartomizers: Even using the condom fill method it is hit and miss getting them to work right. About half are going straight out (Boge's) since they are burnt after a couple of draws.

ViVi Nova 2.0: Worked great at first. After 5 days flavor dropped and draw got hard. How long should the atomizers last? I estimate I went through about 15-20ml in the 5 days I have used it.

tank: Got a tank system and all of a sudden the carto leaks (e.g., its not the tank). The seals on the tank are fine, it is something in the cartomizer. Maybe the holes are to big?

Any ideas welcome.

Cartos, blow them out after condom method. Maybe look at the taryn spin on youtube. I love my cartos.

The tank...I'm even more of a noob with...but I noticed I needed to put downward pressure on the top of the tank to keep the carto in it's groove when threading. Also, wet the o rings. I'm literally on my first tank day and it's been flawless, I wish you luck.

I find even with VV sometimes less is better. Even though my VV PV will go to 6.0 volts my favorite spot is 4 to 4.3 volts. Im guessing if your burning a cartomizer in a couple of draws your running too high a voltage. Ive also had standard tanks drip at the bottom out of the cartomizer, no solution to that yet. The vivi in my opinion is a total hunk of junk. Have had a ton of issues with mine. I also had mine tighten up as far as the draw goes. I modified the crap out of it,read all the posts on it, rebuilt the heads etc etc. Just not worth more of my time to fix someone else's engineering screw up. Thats my opinion.

The vivi nova tanks are great in my opinion.. The atomizers are 2.00, so pick your favorite ohm.. And dispose of one every two weeks or so.. (that's what they last me and I'm a chain vaper.. I mean.. 30-40 Ml's of juice a week..

DCT tanks are good I like the smoktek tanks with a 1.5 ohm pure punched carto.. I run 60/40 pg/VG juices in them and they leak on occasion, but over all for cost and usefulness they are a good product.

Also set up a couple tanks with your juice and rotate them out to lessen the frequency of the maintenance.. You will still clog up tanks and atomizers with colored liquid.. But that's part of it.

The side screw tanks! Yes, I have one on order and am so looking forward to it. I have many pressure problems with them. To the original issue, cartos I just hear of so many problems but haven't used and tanks are slightly better but you do gett leaking from bottom and figuring out the right size and number of holes for the cartos. It's a journey, no doubt.

Vivi Nova heads last me 10-12 days on light juices and about 5 days on my favorite heavy (dark) juice. All of my juices are 50/50. I know it's time to change them when the flavor goes off (hard to describe). When I remove the head, I can see a blob of gunk on the coil. I have had no luck cleaning them after that point, the still taste like crap. I have to try my hand at rebuilding someday. In the meantime, the heads are pretty inexpensive.

I had good luck with tanks when I switched to Boge cartos that I slotted myself. But after using the Vivi Nova, I don't want to go back to anything with filler.

I have to agree with the cartos and filler.. Wicks are great. But there's just something special about a fresh smoktek cartomizer that draws soo easy..

I was a bit standoffish about the vivi nova til I switched to the 1.8 ohm head.. Now it's lovely.. Just ordered 8 more 1.8 ohm heads..

if you want to run high voltages make sure to also run high ohm or your gonna have a bad time. As well as I had the same issues with any carto I hate filler with a vengence at this point and have went to all clearo and my fave when I am just kickin back an HR 306 on my bombshell with stacked rcr123a 3.0volts. The CE2 are nice if ya don't mind filling with a needle and don't want to mess with an adapter if you don't mind the adapter for your tube or with the twist ya don't need one the CE4 is great and easy to fill as well as clean and maintain. The last option that is awesome for capacity is the CE9 tank same as the rest just bigger.

I personally gave up on cartomizers and tanks for the same reasons you've mentioned. I would recommend getting yourself a rebuildable atomizer like the bulli smoker A2 and use a kanthal 32 awg wire. It will last much longer than a cartomizer, performs better, and is much cheaper in the long run than constantly buying new cartos. Just my opinion, I know others swear by their cartos and tanks.

I love my vivi nova 2.5 and I am using it on a smokeless image x2 with an adapter.

Try using bottom coil cartomizers if you are burning your cartos. They don't burn nearly as much or as quickly, I have never burnt one, but when I tried using vertical coil ones, they would burn up quick.

You can also try the bottom coil ce3, they are awesome

Wow, thanks everyone for some great feed back. I ran to the store now I have a bunch of replies to respond to! This is a great forum!

Interesting enough when I got home and tried my tank, no problems. Wonder there was a pressure problem or build-up of some sort as some of you suggested. One reason I am using this tank is that it can handle juices that bust other tanks. I have Mojito in it now and I was nervous of putting that in anything like a ViVi.

What PG/ VG ratio are you using and how many holes in the cartomizers? When I was using a carto/ tank system I punched my own holes- one hole 2.5 mm. I vape 60/ 40 PG/ VG.

The VG ratio is 50/50. The carts came pre-punched with two holes. They look rather large to me but I don't know one way or the other. I did get a saddle valve so I can punch my own now. Will try that soon.

Cartos, blow them out after condom method. Maybe look at the taryn spin on youtube. I love my cartos.

I checked a few videos before I tried it, but it would be good for me to go back and look at the technique again. I do blow them out and let them sit for awhile (10-15 minutes) before I use them When they work the work great. Good advice.

I heard the draw problem was fixed with version 2.0, are you using a V1? Even though mine gives me no flavor it draws as good as my carto's, even better. I will try using a lower voltage next time a make a carto though.

It's a journey, no doubt.

Oh yea *Jaymzifer*, learning that over the last month since I started vaping. So much to learn and it seam like its mostly trial and error. No stores or anyone I know IRL that vape. The ones I first tried over a month ago I got at a local analog store and they were lame but they did lead me here. So it was worth it.

I am starting to think my expectations are too high. I would expect things to work but due to the cottage industry it seams like that's not the case with vaping. Heck, I have even received juices with no flavoring.

Doh! Flyer, that makes perfect sense. I did not equate the juice color. The stuff I have been running is rather dark. I tried to clean it earlier today with soap and water. I looked at the atty and it was dark. What your saying makes sense. I am going to put a new on in it tonight at some point. Right now I have the very last of my House Blend in it and I don't want to waste it. Putting it the ViVi was the first time I could taste it! Who knows when my NLV Bounty Hunter order will come.

I like my vivi nova (v2.5) also. Have you cleaned the head that's giving you problems?

For ease of use on an ego, however, nothing beats the stardust clearos. IMHO, of course.

I have tried the stardust as well. Had leading and the first one died in days. IMHO, the vape quality of the ViVi is better for flavor and vapor. Now if I can just figure out what I am doing with them! I have a few extra stardust clearos, I should break another one out

As you and *MRGreen819* pointed out I need to keep an eye on my voltages. I like the hit better at higher voltages (warmer vape and more flavorful), but I only do that with a 3.0ohm device. Mostly I run around 4.0-5.3.

Hello New Kid.

I am GLAD you are quitting smoking and I don't think your expectations are too high. I mean is asking that the gear you spend your hard earned money on actually WORKS asking too much???? I don't think so.

On the other hand perhaps you just need to sit back and think about what this is REALLY all about.

To me it's about quitting smoking cigarettes successfully so I don't get sick and DIE of a smoking related illness at an early age.

A couple years ago I was at a NY Yankees Baseball game in the old Yankee Stadium where they had outlawed smoking and I was so addicted to nicotine during the 5th inning I ended up breaking a cigerette in half and sticking it between my cheek and gums just so I could get some nicotine into my system and be able to stay in the stadium and actually enjoy the rest of the game. Bad equipment or not, I sure would have LOVED to have a Kgo and a couple Boge cartomizers filled with juice with me that afternoon.

My point is of course you are going to get frustrated when your equipment is not operating like it outta but look at the bright side, you ARE quitting smoking AND you ain't sticking half a cigarette between your cheek and your gum (that tasted AWFUL but it WORKED) just to somehow get a little nicotine into your bloodstream.

Hang in there my friend. Even though you may not be 100% happy with your gear you ARE avoiding smoking and the longer you avoid cigarettes the easier this gets!

Although not pretty here's the tank I "was" using http://momandpopvaporshop.com/tanks/Note at the bottom of the page...
"Quick-tip - once its half empty you can depressurize it by removing the screw for 15 sec. This alows E-liquid to flow into the carto freely to help prevent a dry hit. Another tip for a dry carto - take the screw out and vape normally until you hear gurgling, replace screw and continue vaping. This tip can lead to flooding if done too long but works great for those rare cartos that just don't want to absorb e-liquid. Hope this helps!"
I now am now using the longer wick V2 Clearomizers with success. Yes I agree- darker juices can shorten the lifespan of cartos and clearos drastically. I clean my clearos every 2 days to prevent heavy gunk buildup.
The VG ratio is 50/50. The carts came pre-punched with two holes. They look rather large to me but I don't know one way or the other. I did get a saddle valve so I can punch my own now. Will try that soon.
As stated I use 60/ 40 PG/ VG and only punch 1 hole which is 2.5 mm wide. Some friends use the saddle punch with success while I use a 1" finishing nail with hammer. Regardless of whatever method you use when the piercing nail/ punch is close to puncturing the cartos go VERY slow. Here's a vid for first filling cartos that I and friends use:

Good Luck.

The Vivi Nova is simple to clean - unscrew everything and wash with very hot water, including running water down the center tube which is the air passage, it will gunk up with dried on juice. Put the coil back on the base, without the silicon tube so you can see the coil and dry burn it 3-5 seconds at a time until it glows red from end to end of the coil, then rinse it again.

Dry everything well reassemble, fill and enjoy. If you want to get fancy they are re-buildable coil cartos, check this thread
