i did not know that! i will most likely not get the 420mAh charger if thats the case. maybe i'll get it for a charging emergency, but for everyday charging the regular charger will be my go-to. the regular charger is only supposed to take 3 hrs anyway. as soon as its in stock im scooping it up. i already got my 808 Ego and its taking FOREVER to charge on my slim KR8 charger.

thanks for your help BTW.

Kemosabe sir never suggest using a charger that provides more mah than the battery itself has. You are asking for an overcharge. Had a dying king diamond batt (was no longer holding it's charge as long as it used to) that I purposely charged on a vgo charger to see what would happen. That battery is now officially dead.

thats a good thing to know as a rule of thumb, Morandir sir. the battery we are talking about is a 650mAh 808ego. but im still gonna take your advice. 420 is too close to 650 for me to be comfortable with it. the recommended charger is a 200mAh charger. its sold out so i was thinking of getting a more powerful charger, but im just gonna hold out for the 200mAh.

ive been using my 150mAh Bloog charger. it takes a long time but at least it works and at least im not blasting it with too muich power. Rob at smoktek told me the 200 mAh charger will charge 4 times faster than my 150. is that true? for every additional 50mAh, the charge time is cut in quarter?

Sorry Kemosabe sir, thought you meant using a 420mah charger on a regular kr808 (it's been a long few weeks). 420mah should be fine on a 650mah batt. What ego-t's from smoktek are rated for.... Just can't verify it with this new 808 ego until actually tested it.

Don't see how 20 extra mah would charge 4 times faster. That's like saying going 55 instead of 50 mph more will get you there 4 times faster...

i figured as much. i know nothing about mAh, volts, wattage and such. but it did seem strange. now im starting to think i really do want the 420mAh charger. the challenge now is finding an 808 threaded 420mAh charger. oh wait...i can just get an adapter for the charger, right? would an adapter fit in a charger?

i charged my new 650 808ego right out of the box for 6-7 hours until full. i assume it was shipped at 40%, but i really hope it was less because if not im looking at approx 15+ hours on my 150mAh charger. yikes.

What Morandir said. I simply meant rapidly charging the battery just shortens it's overall lifespan not that it will kill the battery. I also just checked my ego charger and it's 420mah. I'll explain so I don't alarm anyone else. The faster you charge the battery, the more you heat it, the more you heat it, the more you cause it's lifespan to decline in the long run. That's all.

cool. thanks. so ive got another charging question. i know that its important not to charge gen1 KR8s on a gen2 chargers. how about my new KR8 ego? would it matter...do egos even go by generations? i ask because ive been using my gen 2 charger. and im about to start using my gen 1 charger because i just realized its 200mah where my gen2 is a 150.

that's probably what happened when I tried to charge my echo batteries with my kr8 charger. Same v and mah output but it "confused" the IC for a moment. The charger for my echo stays red even after the echo tip goes out for another 30 mins or so there must be some communication happening between the two other than not charged and charged.

Morandir and Charlz: I emailed Rob over at SmokTek, where I got my ego. i told him about the gen1 charger and this was his reply:

"I think it would be fine to use that charger. If it were me, I would check the voltage output to make sure it's not reversed. Center post should be positive. (disclaimer: I'm not responsible if you fry your battery)"

Im pretty sure the voltage is not reversed. I think the label on my charger had the exact same specs as the one on the site thats not available. But what do you think he means by "center post should be positive"?
