I know David recommends cleaning the new P+ with a mild soap and water....Would using a jewelry cleaner hurt? Just wanna keep the connections in good shape.

Yep, just a soft cloth is all that is needed on the Rhodium Contacts. Rhodium is a Precious metal, same as gold, so clean it just as you would a gold watch or ring. On the stainless parts, you can use any metal cleaner or polish you'd like.

I wouldn't recommend shining the contact points with any cleaners or metal polishes, other then mild soap and water and even then, that isn't necessary, just a soft cotton cloth to wipe them off. Again, they are just like gold, they don't tarnish or corrode and you wouldn't polish your gold with any chemical cleaners (i hope).

Oh, wow... I hope I didn't screw anything up. I guess I didn't think much of it since it's not abrassive... After almost 7 years of not cleaning it, I also cleaned and polished my white gold wedding ring at the same time and it looks like new again. But, as you can tell, I obviously don't know what I'm doing here, I guess I just got carried away a little... Well, I guess I won't do that again.

So, did I actually screw up my contact points in any way by doing this?

No worries, you wouldn't of, but over time you could. Even non abrasive metal polishes can take a toll over time. Shining your ring up is different in that you probably want to get years of micro abrasions and sratches off, on your switch, it doesn't need to be comestically shinny, it won't help in any way. Just a soft cotton cloth is all that is necessary. If it were to say, be dropped in some mud or get some grease/grime on it, you could wash it off with some dish soap, but thats all that will ever be necessary for care.

Okay, you totally ruined it. The gold starts evaporating after 30 seconds and should be all gone by now. Wow. I'm so sorry. You will have to order another one. Better get two just in case this happens again. :)
