Happy Thanksgiving all! I've been busy the last couple and didn't get to show off my new masterpiece from David. I can tell this will be a keeper for a long, long time.

Over tightening shorts out the atty and causes the unit to heat up. I would assume that the spring and button heats up and expands and that's why it gets stuck. David has confirmed that the atty will short out if over tightened a while back on this thread.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess all that makes sense. :?:

Yes the best way to deal with a short is to start unscrewing parts to break connection somehow. Grab your shirt or something to insulate you from the heat. I've had the insulation from my battery become damaged once and heat up the unit. Thank goodness it was a protected battery and it just cut out.

Shorting your atomizer will cause the battery to drain very quickly and if you are not using protected batteries such is the case with the IMR you could be in for a real surprise if you don't stop the chain reaction. While the IMR is safer chemistry it will still vent, just not with flames.

Over tightening atomizers has always been an issue on devices with fixed center poles and with all mods in general. Most of the newer style atomizers are built with a harder material for the grommet but it is still possible to push the center pole in far enough to make contact with the negative side of the circuit.

I've posted this pic before but it is a good reminder of what not to do. And if you notice something like this take note of how tight you are screwing down that atty. It should only make contact, nothing more. It shouldn't bottom out in the connector of the mod.

The four in the back row are all damaged and causing shorts.

I'd think over-tightening the atty would only make it a little harder to unscrew the atty off. What I don't understand is how over-tightening the atty could possibly make the switch at the opposite end of the tube get stuck 'on'. Please explain. :)

When there's a short, there's basically max current going from end to end of the battery with very little resistance. What little resistance there is converts electricity to heat. But I don't think it's the heat causing the button to stick.

Since the spring is basically a coil, dumping a high current through it in its compressed state turns it into an electromagnet, causing the button to freeze closed. Unscrewing either the bottom or the top cap instantly releases the button as the electromagnet deactivates. Or so I figure, anyway.

I think that is highly unlikely. Not near enough wraps in the coil and I believe the switch post is mostly brass which in not magnetically active. But good thought.

On atomizers, many brands center post is supported by a very soft rubber grommet, which easily can push up to far into the atomizer if over tightened and cause a short. On the PrecisePlus, with it's Rhodium contacts, you only need to tighten the atomizer down lightly, overtightening is not necessary and not making you a better connection, you are already getting the best connection in the industry.

2. DAVID: My springs have not yet arrived, and it's been several weeks; so Im a bit worried... !!!!

How long does first class mail to Argentina usually take? Yours was the first order i've ever shipped to Argentina so i'm not sure how long it takes and how reliable your mail system is there. I guess we are finding out. Hopefully they will show soon. A couple of springs is nothing the post office would want to steal :)

I see the add to cart button, but when I try and click on it nothing happens ( tried on multiple comp) must be out of stock on the 18350 mod.

I got this fast charger along with my red 18350 batteries from David. How long is it supposed to take to charge these things, it seems like after only a very short time the light turns green. Does it do any good to leave them in the charger just a bit longer?

The first time you charge them, i've found they go green faster. After you put them through a few cycles, they gain more and more capcity (i've verified this on my load tester too) and will take more of a charge.
