Again, thanks for the replies. Has no one a good word to say for the protanks? I haven't had a single leak and they are so easy to fill but my experience with the ego was that any carto I ended up getting that lack of taste and sense of disappointment. I'm beginning to think it's just vaping I'm bored with. I'm also thinking that there's a lack of agreement on "which carto" above and I'll end up at square one whichever I choose.

I live in the UK. For simplicity can anyone recommend any of these

They make fantastic, if slightly small and unstable, paperweights. I kid, I kid.

I use a ProTank 3 with Aero base on my Mini, but with the stock base, it was a desk decoration. I'm running around a 50% "this stock coil doesn't suck, wow!" rate so far, and will probably start building my own coils soon. There are far better glass options out there, but it works well enough now.

Hang in there you will find your groove again I am sure.

I have 11 PT2 w/aerotank airflow control and they all work great. I rebuild them as well and wick with cotton. I do have one juice that gives me issues no matter what tank or carto system I use.

I recently purchased some IBTanks and like them as well but the cartos I currently have do not seem to work well with some of my juice. Everything I have tried has had a learning curve and some things I gave up on because it just wasn't my thing.

I am not a fan of any non-glass "type". This allows me to use any juice in any delivery system I have.

I vape my 1.8ohm PT2 at between 4 and 4.4 depending on the juice and I get great flavor.

Hang in there and good luck

I like ProTank 2's. I have 10, but I use Tatroe bottom caps with them. I use low resistance coils and vape at low power on the ProVari and get a very flavorful saturated vape. I prefer carto tanks, though, as they are less fiddly for me. I only use Vape Rev and IBTanked tanks, but from the link you posted, I'd try the DCT tank, as that is what is available to you.

I do. :)

Hello Adik Ted. Haven't seen you here in quite some time!

ProVari is a good mod. Protanks are good clearomizers. The problem is, they are not quite compatible. Yes, they are both 510 threaded, but please keep in mind that ProVari's head was designed a long time ago--and has not been updated since--to be used with cartomizers and atomizers--not with all those new big tankomizers. The issue is airflow. ProVari doesn't work very well with heads that have bottom fed air intake--like the Protanks.

There are ways to deal with that problem, however, depending on your budget and determination. If you don't want to spend any money whatsoever, try loosening your ProTank just a bit to allow for more airflow from the bottom--half a turn or so should suffice. Screw it on just enough to make contact--no more. If you overtighten, you'll block the air and your Protank will choke.

If you're willing to invest some money, I recommend getting an airflow controller. The cheap ones are fussy but they work.

Or if you like fancy, try the Hippo. :D

Hippo V2 Brass

Also, please remember that the coils in your ProTank need to be cleaned and eventually replaced--they are disposable. If you use dark, sweet juices, you'll have to do it frequently--they are very hard on the coils. And make sure your wattage is correct--Kanger recommends 5.5-7.5 watts. With 1.8Ω coils, stay around 3.4-3.6 volts on your ProVari, increase your voltage only if necessary. In the future, try higher ohm coils--I find them somehow better and smoother than the 1.8Ω ones--don't ask me why. I use 2.2-2.5Ω.

Good luck and happy vaping.

I hope you find the perfect tank to put on your Provari.

I love my protank2's, but I dislike the protank in stock form.

After picking up a protank the modding begins.

1. I take the base and drill the air holes out with a 1/16 drill bit, to increase air flow.
2. I take that same drill bit, get some 30awg wire and build a coil. My coils are 30awg, 8 wraps, 1/16 drill bit, 1.6Ω, organic cotton wick/ no flavor wick
3. Prime the wick, fill the tank and enjoy awesome flavor with great vapor production.

I started vaping with carto tanks, now that I build my own coils...I have yet to find a tank system that comes close to my build.

I'm, a firm believer that a quality build outweighs the device it's sitting on. My Provari though, basically supercharged my builds haha.

Again I hope you find a system that works for you and keeps you off the analogs.

I've been back to using my ProTanks lately but I use very dilute juice in them and third party bases that allow the air to flow properly.

When I'm using full flavor juice, though, I stick with my cartotanks.

I'll second that.

Its a pet peeve of mine when people call protanks "tanks" because its misleading. Protanks are clearo-tanks albeit bottom coil and will still have wicking issues with thicker juices as a result.

Carto tanks on the other hand, predate all tanks but the ego-t and were invented right here on these forums.

Outside of a RBA Ive yet to find a better juice delivery device and side by side the carto outperforms a protank on all my juices.

Ditto on all the has been written here re: ProTanks. I have the ProTank2 and don't care for it at all. I use one juice in it and that's it. I hated the IClear 30s cuz I don't care to vape a metal taste (at least that's what I get from it). A better topper on a ProVari will do it justice like a carto tank, RBA or a dripper, IMO.

Once you find a great topper that suits your taste, you will know it's not your ProVari causing this issue.

Thank you so much for posting this Adik Ted. A friend called this morning, with a very similar problem. (New Provari, PT, burnt taste). I was able to share this thread with her and a bit of my own experience. I started with carto tanks, then PT's and am happily back to cartomizer tanks. Best flavor (next to dripping) value and less fiddling IMO. Keep asking and reading. We have all been down the road of finding what suits us! You've done a stellar job of picking a Provari. One less thing to worry about.

Thanks for the replies (hi katya). I'll mess about with the protank for another few days as I can see me trying other cartos and ending up with the same disappointment.

Trying a carto tank isnt the same as trying a carto Adik. Enclosing a carto in a tank eliminates those nasty dry hits that people associate with a plain carto. Properly primed and set up,its about as hassle free as you can get and the taste is superior IMO to everything except an RBA.

If youre interested, check out Baditudes blog.He breaks it down for you and includes lots of pictures. You can also get a J-tank for pretty cheap.

Thanks for that. I'm obviously way behind the times.
