I understand that but in this case it's more along the lines of something that has already existed for a long time being used for another purpose...

There are tons of examples of that in the tech world. Part of the problem is it doesn't seem like the people granting the patents understand the technology they are granting the patent for (and neither do the judges most of the time).

I do think Notcigs would have a valid argument for a patent based on some of the other things patents have been made for. I do not think the tech should be patented, but that doesn't mean a patent wouldn't hold up.

So, you *do* understand. OK. good.

Yeah but unless he invented it more than a decade (or decades) ago he didn't invent a VV vaporizer..I could stick this liquid on a vaporizer with a voltage adjustable control from the 80's and it would do the same thing..I know he didn't invent the e cig so what did he invent that he patented? Do you have a link to his patent?

I understand people get patents for things they didn't invent all the time but that doesn't mean it would hold up either. I haven't seen this patent..BTW it says on there site "we currently have a Patent Pending on Variable voltage" that doesn't mean they will get it and even if they did it might not hold up. Otherwise he doesn't have a patent he applied for one..in the end they may be out thousands of dollars and have nothing...

Do you have google or a search box at the upper right part of each ECF page? You should use that. Even if you locate and read that or any other patent, you don't really seem to get how a patent works so I just feel like any direction I point you in is just going to result in more wild claims and accusations from you ... sort of like the last time we interacted when you said all throat hit from polyfill cartos is due to melting plastic. --- Probably from now on, the only interactions you and I will have is when you are feeding out more misinformation and I feel like pointing it out to whomever you are feeding it to.

"Seems long a tough patent to get since voltage adjusting trim pots have been used in electronics pretty much forever. there have to be a thousand or more similar items just in audio mixing equipment... And anyone who has ever overclocked a processor in their PC has at least a basic understanding of VV... and anyone who is in to RC planes and cars (etc) has used at least a dozen methods to vary voltage. ... it isn't any sort of a new concept and I'm going to guess that any such patent application will face scrutiny by earlier patent holders if the product involved actually takes off and makes a lot of money.

Just because someone applies for a patent doesn't mean they can actually get one, keep it once they have it, or enforce any rights that pertain to it without challenge."

Hmm who wrote that? Yes I'm very good at searching :p

But lousy at paying attention.

When Buzzkill announced his patent, I actually asked him how hard it had been to get because things like trim pots have been around a while... and I knew better. I spent a little over 9 soul sucking years doing litigation support for a firm that primarily handled ip issues. The fact that the parts used were already invented doesn't mean the idea of VV for e-cigs already existed due to trim pots not being new or buck circuits not being new or etc. The simple fact of the existence of a trim pot doesn't mean that everything a trim pot can be used in has been thought of.

And not as good at searching as you think. Wrong again. You are indeed good at being wrong.

Who says I'm done searching..I already found a variable voltage vaporizer that was used in a study in the 90's to vaporize tobacco..they could have existed in the 70's or even earlier (I know personally vaporizers existed in the 80's with a voltage adjustment to change the temperature of the coil)..and that was you telling him it would be hard to get a patent..you also posted he had one which he doesn't and may never get...

Crispy do you realize how often you get on people's threads and start arguments? No matter the subject.. polyfill, vv mods, voltmeters, patents... you make claims that you have seen it, can do it better, can build it, have built it and have the money to buy bunches if you want. It gets tedious after awhile.

Edit: Do you want me to quote you more six? I see another doozy I could post where you basically argued the same thing I am...

Go ahead. it's probably about prior art. When you find the one where I apologized for being wrong, please quote that one too and take a hint from that post and do the same thing yourself. And, while you are at it, quit lying to noobs - quit spreading misinformation - quit making wild claims - quit making unfounded accusations - and simply admit it when you are wrong.

You are wrong. I'm pretty sure you are deliberately wrong most of the time that you are wrong. That's called trolling on forums and usenet. In the real world it's called lying. It is past time for you to stop that.

I comment on what I know or what I think if you don't like it I don't really care..not everyone will like what I post. I also do admit when I'm proven wrong but will argue a point until so. I can build one IDK about it looking better but it would work just as good if I had a the right tools I probably could make it look as good or better..there is nothing here that is rocket science. I did have the free money to buy a dozen Provari's last week..still have enough to buy more than 5.

You don't know me or what I can do I have been tinkering with electronics since I was a small child in the 70's and I put my 1st V-8 (1972 350 Rocket Olds) in a car (1979 Cutlass) at 17 which I had to pull the crankshaft to have it milled for a pilot hole for the 5 speed that was in it because Olds engines didn't have a pilot hole in the crank unless it came from a standard car..that motor ran great after for years..since then I have put in dozens of engines and done lots of work on cars..I also work on computers on occasion for a couple local small businesses and people...

"
Six no disrespect but you do not understand patents that well , it is the device it is used in that is under application not ALL variable devices .
.

7 years in patent law. These days, I use my electro-mechanical skills to put food on the table, but that doesn't mean I've forgotten. If you're going to ask licensing fees to use someone elses art even in a device they never could have imagined it being used, it doesn't make their art yours. Best case scenario, you're splitting license fees with whomever holds rights to trim pots and voltage regulators (RCA and GM, probably). Worst case, RCA figures out you used their art for profit in a manufacturing process without paying them licensing fees... An idea on paper is very different than an idea that actually made it to manufacturing.

Again, more power to you. I hope you are successful. I don't know your time line (you said your app went in a year ago, but I have no idea when you began selling your devices nor when or if you discussed your idea in public), but you'll want to cover your ... as much as possible if you gave away your idea by sales or public discussion before the app went in. More so if anyone on any public forum helped you or made suggestions you tried out or that actually made it in to any production design."

I'm just arguing my point and I don't mind doing that but I'm not a liar so don't call me that..I have been wrong and will admit it when proven so but I am not lying. Calling me a troll is just like "the pot calling the kettle black". You make some pretty wild claims yourself...

This is looking now as a fight between 2 persons, who did this before. Can we get back to the subject.

About a patent, you have it or not. When pending you have not.

They are just arguing with me because I put their "holy grail" down and they couldn't win. I would prefer to not argue this anymore but if they are going to call me a lair (without any proof I am one) because they can't win I think they will find I can argue a point for months on end and have (at least until the mods lock it or delete posts if they did)...

Why not share the numbers with all of us?

I remember the LT being released, and people saying it "kicks like a horse" and other such hyperbole. The term "powerhouse" has been bandied about concerning this mod. I'd like to see some hard data, because without it everything is just an unsubstantiated opinion.

I tell you what ....you obviously have a computer, there are 3 or 4 videos out now on you tube , 1 in particular that the person is using one of the many testing devices I use also, he has the same unit I do and you can CLEARLY see all the numbers you need to in real time as he uses it underload. I dont have the link handy but Im sure you can search it on you tube. As far as me going above and beyond the call of duty just to please ecf members. Not to sound like a .....,as Im sure I will, but Im just not here to please everyone else, sorry, I do what I feel like doing,if anything, with the limited time I have to do it in. I work 50-60 hours a week with HP, after that, its ME time. You can try to respect that or you can crucify me some more, whatever makes you feel better I guess. If you watch the video it will clearly support anything I've said as a opinion by the shear numbers. As far as the LT hype,I dont disagree with you, i was totally let down when i got mine...BUT, the LT and the VMAX arent even in the same ballpark NOT EVEN IN THE SAME CITY BLOCK OF THE BALLPARK. I cant wait till more people have them, and they will, very, very soon. Take care everyone.
