And not a word on the Smoktech site about whether or not it's protected. It does ship with ICR 16340's, which are protected I do believe. Makes me kinda doubt that the device itself is. Rackafracka Chinamen. Shoulda bought American dammit.

I personally think (my opinion ONLY) , by experience and knowledge, that safe chemistry batteries are safer than pcb protected,and its more than obvious they perform much better by the numbers data alone. Now me...I feel with a IMR safe chemistry battery and the new protection chip that Cherry Vapes Owner,Chris...Epipes Owner, Matt.....and I believe it's Artisian collaborated on together to develop, with those 2 put together in a mod would be all the protection anyone would need. Now granted I do NOT have one yet to play around with yet to put it under some hefty situations to see when the fuse on it pops so I cant say for sure, BUT, going off what Matt said in a interview, and what Chris said in another interview they put A LOT of thought and time into the development of this and by the time a year or so rolls around they want to see it in everyone's mod for that added peace of mind of the best safety you can buy for I think $10. Not sure about the price but I think I remember Matt saying it would be around 10 bucks give or take some pennys. Just to clarify just for you John ""THIS IS MY OPINION"" Nothin more,nothin less. As I posted earlier in this thread. I seriously doubt you'll be able to use protected batts in this mod, if you crank it up to 7V on a 1.5 ohm carto. You'll probably pop the protection circuits. Of course, I'm not sure how many people would ever want to do it that way. I'd still use IMRs in this one. The potential for high current draw dictates that.

You might be able to pick up a used one in 3 to 6 months for $60. No USB as it uses 2 x 18350s for 7.4v input so you'd likely charge them in series at 8.4v. Not easily done with a 5v low amp source. All the USB chargeable mods I've seen are single battery mods except the Darwin which I believe has 2 batteries in parallel so they can be charged with a 5v source.

Somebody in China is making a revised LT that's an all plastic molded tube with a squared off head on it. Those will probably sell close to the range you are talking about.

This may be a budget vv tube mod but it produces more volts with duals than my buzz pro. I can but do not run 2 ohm duals at 6 volts with this because the vape is too hot. I had to turn the volts down to 5 volts. Where with my buzz pro set on high I run duals all day. I am thinking the electronics are the close or the same as the smok vmax. Mine may be version 2 as the link there says will not run duals. This is the one I have

Ordered one to check it out... $40. They have cheap IMR 18350s also. Figure I can sell it for what I paid for it and just eat the shipping at some point. At this price I'm surprised it's not 'the rage'. We'll see.

Yes mgm, the ones that VZ carries are basically a V2 version! It's running with a 2.5 amp switch with PWM technology! I am surley picking one of these up in the RED though!
