New York has the highest tax on analogues. That leads to a lot of smuggling. While a lot of it is just people going to another state to get some for themselves there are large smuggling rings which lead to higher crime rates and they could be funding terrorists. Over taxation of something leads to things like that. Banning something could lead to the same problems.

When will enough be enough? I will send my emails like always but when will the people see whats happening, they won't, not until we are all being hauled off to work camps, the germans during ww2 didn't see anything wrong...until it was too late no one stood up. I see organizations that preach succession and reform and in the end no one does anything. I hope CASAA and new york vapers stand up and take this bill down. If it passes I assure you it won't be "saving lives"

Have you ever wondered how all these states and municipalities with all their real problems, manage to focus on imagined ones?

That's the problem, they are using these imagined problems to distract from the real problems. They learned from the federal cover-up...errr I mean government.

Since they can't solve the real problems, this gives them something easy to do that makes them look like they are doing something. Also, when they demonize it enough to be able to excessively tax it, they probably think the extra money will help solve the other problems.

OMG! Escape from New York! (movie) is actually a great idea for real! We should do that!

The island of Manhattan could evacuated, isolated from the rest of New York City and turned into a giant maximum-security prison in which all inmates serve a life sentence (prisoners escorted inside cannot be released). A 50-foot containment wall should surrounds the island and many of Manhattan's bridges and tunnels could either be destroyed or covered with mines to prevent anyone escaping from the prison. The surrounding waters could patrolled and no civilians, even prison guards, are allowed to set foot on the island!

LOL sorry for such a rant, but things are just out of reason over there in New York.

Smokers quitting is a REAL problem. The states have become so addicted to tobacco taxes they have no idea how to replace this lost revenue.

As I've stated before, somebody's lying.

In 2012, $43.7b was collected in excise, sales and MSA taxes on cigarettes. That's a lot of addiction.

http://www.rjrt.com/taxpays.aspx

However, the cost of smoking is established in 2011 as almost $295b. "More than $289 billion a year, including at least $133 billion in direct medical care for adults and more than $156 billion in lost productivity. $5.6 billion a year (2006 data) in lost productivity from exposure to secondhand smoke"

CDC - Fact Sheet - Fast Facts - Smoking & Tobacco Use

Now the health costs don't go away immediately. I understand that. However if every smoker quit smoking today that $43.7b would be offset by the claimed $161.6b in lost productivity 3.7 times over.

If you live in New York, you really need to contact your representatives and let them know how you feel about this. Call them. Write a real letter to them. Send an e-mail. Share this with everyone you know, even if they don't vape themselves. Have them call and write letters. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper.

Of course people who vape will be active and sympathetic, but to be effective, we need more than that. Most reasonable people when presented with the facts will be sympathetic and helpful even if they don't vape. It is critically important to reach these people and get them to help. Don't think for a minute that it can't or won't happen; they will not stop.

Let your representatives know in no uncertain terms that you WILL NOT vote for them if they support this legislation. Let them know that you WILL NOT support them in any way for re-election if they support this bill. Let them know that you will ACTIVELY oppose their re-election if they vote for this legislation. Not just once. Call every day. Write every day.

Enough is enough.

I actually went and did a search on snopes, I thought t is so completely ridiculous that it must be a hoax.

This is obviously a April fools joke, or at least it should be.
... ... ... A onion article! Yeah thats what it must be!
I move we kick New York out of the Union, or perhaps we could give it to China to pay off our debt.
