To be safe, i'll continue storing in glass in the freezer though.
As will I.

But I'll also make the following recommendation: If you get nic in plastic, and don't have your glass ready to rebottle it into, put in in the freezer temporarily; do not leave it sitting around at room temperature waiting for your glass bottles to arrive.

Post Flavor Ban, Post Internet Sales Ban, Post 18mg+ Ban, 5 Days Cold Turkey type desperate?

;)
The preps I've made give me a high degree of confidence I'll never be that desperate,

The last time I went four or five days cold turkey, my wife (a never-smoker!) told me: "Honey, if you wanna stay married, you need to start smoking again!"

I have said that to the husband before, unfortunately like when he's quit for 8 days during the flu. Stuff like, "Your lungs are totally better enough to go smoke a cigarette, and my brain hurts enough that it NEEDS you to smoke NOW."

I mean though, I bet he would have gone back eventually, I mean he's done JAIL and all sorts of desperate measures. Homelessness. You don't smoke that much if you are living off the land rurally homeless, etc.

So he probably would have gone back. I will never know though.

I used to make fun of him for sleeping in a dumpster but then he pointed out it was a carpet remnant dumpster and I was like, "Hmm, I guess that was pretty resourceful with a BAC of 0.3." He sort of maintained that steady state for a while.

I would vape that nic on a DARE.

LOL

My long term storage bottles are 1 liter amber glass. For mixing I divide the liquid in to 4 250 ml amber glass bottles. Everything stays in the freezer, temperature at 0 degrees, I can't go colder. The last time I mixed was from 4 years old inventory. The liquid showed a hint of yellowing for the first time. Next time i mix I'll take a photo and post here.

I'm planning one more nic buy and procastinating for as long as possible hoping for fresher stock. (but don't get caught by panic buying when some deadline is announced). Should I be considering nic salt just for the sake of shelf life? Does nic salt taste different? I mix 12 mg freebbase and vape at 25 max watts, 420 max temp, single coil stainless around 0.8 ohm mostlyy on an old school rda.

I’d like to know if I should be considering nic salts as well. However I vape at a higher wattage than you, but I’m not sure that matters

Nic salts arent for everybody, I personally didnt care for them, at least not the vendor I tried.

Try a small amount to see if you like them first, wouldnt want to have a vapocolypse stash and then figure out you dont like the stuff.

Not sure if they oxidize any slower or not. If you keep it in the freezer, especially if in glass, then it doesnt really matter either way.

I won’t be relying on NRs response when asked if they could directly go in freezer. I’m grabbing it out of my freezer tomorrow and transferring to glass bottles, thanks to this thread!

When you pull it out of the freezer, let it come to room temperature before you open the bottle(s).

Reason: If it's colder than the dew point of the ambient air, which is certain straight from the freezer, condensation will form on the bottle, including inside the bottle if it's open. Said condensation will contain much dissolved oxygen from the air. IIRC, water can hold a lot more oxygen than either PG or VG, and you do not want that in the nic you're re-bottling.

That is very helpful, @Rossum. Thank you. I will follow your directions exactly when I transfer today

@Rossum Do you think 2 hours is enough to get it to true room temperature? Too much time? Too little time? I don’t want to rely on the outside temp of how the bottle feels to the touch. I want to be sure I do this totally correct now that I’m taking better care of my new nic. I didn’t have time to transfer it before my trip so I just stuck it in the freezer

Two hours is probably not enough. How big are the bottles you have in the freezer? A bigger bottle takes longer due to its greater mass/volume to surface area ratio.

I like to let mine sit overnight before opening, and they're all 120.

I did some mixing this morning. The photo below shows 100mg nic in PG bought from MFS 4 years ago. It was transferred to a 1 liter amber glass bottle and kept at 0 degrees. When needed for mixing, about a year ago it was transferred to 4 250 ml amber bottles. To my eye there is no color change since new. My hunch is that when this liquid is kept frozen and protected from light it might loose very slight potency over many years but won't change otherwise. Don't forget to shake the bottle before mixing. A couple times a year I give all my stored bottles a good shaking.

Why shake, does the nic stratify?
In principle, it shouldn't.

Would that expose whatever O2 that remains in the headroom to even more nic?
Probably.

I don't mess with my 100 mg nic in the freezer. Since I mix a whole 120ml bottle of 100 mg base down to vaping strength at one time, I don't worry whether it has stratified because the whole bottle gets dumped into my mixing container, and then the bottle gets rinsed with PG that also ends up in the mixing container (waste not, want not).

Now when I've made a mixed-down batch of unflavored, all of it except one bottle goes back in the freezer, where some of those bottles will remain for many months. Whenever I pull a fresh one out of the freezer to start using, I let it come to room temperature and then give it a good shake. I doubt it's really necessary, but it doesn't seem to hurt anything either.
