True, but the anti drinking lobby is not nearly as strong as the anti smoking lobby.
To much of the public, vaping is just like smoking.

What about MADD and AA. MADD has actually changed legislation. Anti-smokers (to my knowledge) have only changed policy. Action versus intention.

MADD is against drunk driving. Alcohol is a source of income for the Government. MADD wants increased fines for drunk driving. Fines are a source of income for the Government. No problem. The day you hear that the Government has outlawed parking lots at taverns, you will know that MADD has forced the Government to make a decision that would decrease their own income. MADD (although I cannot speak for them) is not against alcohol.

AA helps people who want to stop drinking, much like ECF helps people who want to stop smoking. AA and ECF do not care to interfere with people who do not want to stop. AA (although I cannot speak for them) is not against alcohol.

Anti-smokers are people who the Government has to pay lip service to, and so, they approve things that they know will not help people stop smoking but appear to be doing something.

Neither MADD nor AA have as their ultimate goal, the total elimination of alcohol.
The danger that I see is if a group sees vaping as a "gateway" habit to full on smoking for young people instead of a tool for smokers to get away from smoking.

Which, once again, would be the Government paying lip service to the anti-smokers (ANTZ) while protecting their cigarette income. Win/Win (for the Government)!

I have a hard time believing such a group who thought that way could gain much traction. Thinking of vaping as a gateway to smoking real cigarettes is just as absurd as thinking of Snus as a gateway to dip. I don't think E-cigs have ever been promoted as anything but an alternative to smoking, at least not by any reputable vendor, so to accuse them of being something that is completely opposite of that ... well, I have a hard time thinking anyone with clout could take such a claim seriously when the facts do nothing to bear them out.

Then they can label them in an appropriate manner, warning of nicotine addiction, possible side effects, recommended dosage, etc, and limit sales to > [age]. Where is this group when it comes to nicotine lozenges? .... man, those things are like candy and in kids reach at the pX. I can see it now....Werthers, the gateway drug! ed*Meh, sorry, the whole HC thing gets me slightly riled up the more I read about it.

We were smokers. We found ways to avoid the taxes on cigarettes and get our nicotine fix for less than half the regular cost. The Government passed laws, diverted law enforcement, border security agents and created an industry out of paid informants. They certainly didn't do that out of concern for our health!

Now we can vape for 1/10 the cost of cigarettes (just for a number), avoid any taxes, and we think the Government will allow us to carry on this way. That's a lovely Dream! I don't expect it will happen like that.

They can't ignore us, No. They don't ignore smokers either, but they can certainly punish the ones who do not pony up the money to them!

This is spot on. If the government isn't getting their piece of the pie, they will do their damnedest to get it if not the whole damn thing:mad:

In fairness, there's a certain amount of logic to the laws that turned Popeye Candy Cigarettes into Popeye Candy Sticks and eliminated the red on the end. That was about the glorifying of cigarettes, which was common for the longest time. Cigarettes were cool. They were rebellious. And it was common to think nothing of that, and kids were influenced by that coolness. I know I was. So they wanted to remove anything marketed at kids that were designed to glorify smoking.

It's a bit of a stretch, sure, but not beyond reason.

I just watched a PBusardo review of a juice line and he identified one of them as exactly candy Cigs that we used to eat as kids.

The Popeye one's you can get at the dollar store but they are called sticks and you'll have to paint the end of them yourself.
