Thanks Mowgi, is there such a thread as vaping ZONE IS A RIP OFF? I am going to contact my credit card company to dispute the charge. Fortunately I have saved their e mails supporting my case. The amount I paid is not such a big deal, but I want to stop them from ripping off others.

Sorry, I meant to link to my post.

Sounds like you're getting busy dealing with them. Right on.

I purchased 500 ml from vaping Zone and it turned out to be approximately 10% short. When I contacted the company they said I am only entitled to an approximate amount, adding that they estimate that amount by pouring into a bottle to an imaginary line where the curve starts.

I've never purchased nic before, the order to NN is my first - however, I can say that regardless of the item being purchased, that has to be one of the craziest things I've ever heard.

I know it sounds crazy, but it actually happened, and I have the e mails to prove it. Should anyone ask, I'd be happy to post the text of the e-mail I received from Vaping Zone.

I only had time to read the first few pages, and the last, of this thread and it's a long one, so excuse me if I missed it somewhere in the middle pages: did anyone report any results of nicotine strength tests for various brands of base liquid? And, why would anyone do a 'nicotine base review' or 'nicotine comparison' without testing it - that's one of the most important things about it (if not *the* most important)?

I don't get it - maybe someone can explain? Thanks.

No, I haven't but I got my shipping confirmation the other day and expected delivery is tomorrow. I did see on the main page of their site that they've just switched over to a dedicated server, so it's possible that some info/data hasn't been transferred yet. Did you get a confirmation email when you ordered?

Yep...email confirmation of sale transaction....no shipping info link though....hope I am just lagging behind on the dedicated server glitch...

I've dealt with Nude Nic several times. One time there was a glitch in shipping and I just emailed him, got back to me and apologized, then shipped it out promptly. No problem. From all I've heard, they are a good company.

I'm re-reading the entire post looking for testing results now because of your question.

I think this is the thread (one of them) that I used to research nic suppliers before I bought my first.
I think I remember reading results somewhere along the way but don't remember if this thread was where.
It was useful to me to read reviews on whose was good or not regardless of potency accuracy.
I got WL and didn't regret it. I got RTS when WL was out of stock. I hve Nude Nic on the way.

You ask an excellent question about test results. I'm embarrassed to say I take accuracy for granted.
I did read the stickies and re-read them sometimes so I should know better

I shared a PM that NICnurse sent me yesterday about potency testing results she got after years of storage.

Yes, I should get a test kit. I will get one because I do care.
I read about a bad batch tested at 250mg or something a year or so ago.
I'd hate for one of my friends to get a severely wrong "dosage" from me.

OOPS. I posted that quoted PM from NICnurse in a few threads but missed this one.
I posted it mainly to storage threads.

Thanks for the reminder rolygate

Hey!

Man, I had not performed any tests, but your message inspired me to check my nic stash. So, I ran some tests just for you this afternoon and here is what I have:

All my batches are mixed at ~50mg/ml with PG

December 2011 nicotine: test today was nicotine content 49.01mg/ml. Slight (like super diluted urine, so not much) yellow tinge (unchanged since last check). Nic has been in freezer the entire time, but I do open it to put into smaller bottles for use. It has been opened maybe 4-5 times during storage. Odor unchanged.

June 2012 nicotine: test today was 49.86mg/ml. Faintest hint of yellow if I look really closely next to a white piece of paper. NIc has been unopened in the freezer for the duration. Odor unchanged.

December 2012 nicotine: test today was 49.98mg/ml. No yellow at all to maybe a super faint slight hint. Also has remained unopened since put into freezer. Odor unchanged.

May 2013 nicotine:test today was 49.86mg/ml. No yellow at all. Unopened since put in freezer. Odor unchanged.

August 2013 nicotine: test today was 49.93 mg/ml. This one does have a slight tan tone, but it did when I received it as well. My Freedom Smokes said they no longer "bleach" their nic liquid so the tan was normal. Odor unchanged.

All of these samples are from My Freedom Smokes. It has stored in the freezer super well, huh! I have 9 750mL bottles in the freezer, and contemplating purchasing another liter of nic. I *think* I have enough for nearly 10 years right now, but you can never be too prepared, right?! :)

If you ever want me to do a test, just holler. I would be happy to do one! Also send me the link to your blog. I would love to read it!

NICnurse

That's awesome!

Thanks for doing that. It's very encouraging.

I hope you don't mind if I quote this message in a few threads.
It's great news that will be good for DIYers' peace of mind.

Hey that's good. Tells us that brand was accurate, though after mixing and storage.

I'd probably want to see this info in a nicotine base test:

1. Manufacturer / brand:

2. Label strength:

3. Type - PG, VG or ?:

4. Bottle type - glass (full description), plastic (full desc.):

5. Strength measured:
The test used was the [XXXXX] test, and I know it is accurate because... [XXXXX].

6. Color:

7. Aroma - strength, type:

8. Vape quality when vaped unflavored at [xxxxx] strength when diluted with more [xxxxx]: (taste, flavor, TH, overall pleasantness)
Hardware used:

9. Any comment about company, service, etc.:
If they provide a certificate of analysis, this could be mentioned (and details of it).

Update - after 1 year in freezer: strength, color, nature of unflavored vape.

Yeah, I remember that.

It's one of the reasons we know that some vendors haven't a clue what they are selling and why we need to test it, and why vendors need to publish a 99.5% or better (but not worse) certificate of analysis for their products on the website. A certificate doesn't prove anything about the item you have, except that at least they know where a suitable lab is and how to get stuff checked.

Note that a 98% analysis is fairly common, and not much use - 2% of an unknown ingredient that could be DEG or diacetyl isn't exactly reassuring.

^^Good idea. Should be a whole new thread with a new title such as Nicotine Tests or some such:)

:) The answer to this is:

- Virtually all pharma grade nic comes from China so it really doesn't matter where you get it, the reputation of the vendor is by far the most important factor. I'd buy it from a business with a high annual turnover who therefore (a) will know by long experience of bad choices where to get good products, (b) have the resources to test their raw materials properly, and (c) who have too much to lose if they get exposed for selling contaminated materials [1].

- As well as US-sold nic I also get Ecopure Krystal for its quality, although this unflavoured base is only 36mg (it's from the UK). I occasionally vape it neat or with minimal added flavour. (I'm 100% VG most of the time.)

[1] It's hard to trust anyone due to the industry's record - there is certainly no Rolls Royce in this game (I'm only interested in proof not words, so what's needed are regular published 99.8% analyses of bases and finished retail products - but that is just a fantasy unfortunately). The more high-falutin' words they use about 'quality', the more inclined I am to think they are liars or totally ignorant [2].

Some nic comes from India but it's hard to work out what came from where, at this end: the companies and the certificates come from all over: China, India, Switzerland, France, USA (despite the source almost always being China - maybe >90% from China, 10% from India). Some very low volume nic extractors are working in the US ecig industry doing custom extractions from leaf. Those people generally advertise what they're doing and may be associated with NET or WTA extractions.

The big new US liquid nic company hasn't come online yet AFAIK (Universal Corp/AmeriNic at: pharmachemlabs.com/divisions/avoca). It's far more expensive to make than they probably realised, and there's no point - from the buyer's point of view - when you can order good materials from China, at maybe double the usual price, but still at far lower cost than any Western-made USP nic could be sold for [2].

[2] The sales director of a high-turnover US e-liquid producer told me their nic was synthetic and therefore ultra pure, but very expensive. I told him that was impossible, and he needed to get the truth from his production manager, because he was making himself look stupid by telling people this. Later he came back to me and said yes, it's synthetic, that was why it was so expensive. I repeated this was impossible because his product would not just be expensive but would be be priced out of the market, and as synthetic nic only has 50% of the bioactivity of organic nic they'd also need double the quantity as well, and he needed to get the truth; and I hinted that it might get published that his firm were liars, and it would be relatively easy for any chemist to check because it's easy to tell D-nic from L-nic or racemic as there's an optical test, you don't even have to analyse it. After a time he came back and said the guy had admitted it was regular nic but they paid more than double the cost for exceptional purity. (The production manager had been 'economical with the truth'.) That's more like it. And a far better result anyway.

It doesn't matter what people tell you about quality, only the proof counts. The more they go on about quality, the more you know they don't have any proof and are just guessing.

I too have ordered a few times from NN. 3 or 4x.
Time order is processed to Packaging and shipping has always been top notch in my experience.

With a sale happening. I personally would not expect a ship notification for a few days. I assume nic has to be put in its containers. Then packed in box to prepare for shipping.

Once they print label is when a notification from stamps.com is sent.

Its worth the wait!

Yeah. Well there is a difference between what is doable and what is economically viable, isn't there? :)

People still pop up on ECF and say it's being done and point to citations about the process - but they just can't understand how cheap it is for good quality stuff from China compared to here (assuming you order good quality and pay for it).

I'm surprised that AmeriNic isn't online yet, but maybe they found out no one would buy nic at $2,000 a jug.

After they were willing to lie once, I'd have trouble believing any claims they make.
