I'm just wondering about nicotine level reduction. I assume most vapers reduce the nic level gradually but probably some don't. I started vaping three weeks ago and I'm still on 18mg nic juice. I'm thinking that reducing the nic nice and slow would be the best way to go, maybe walk down 3mg every month or two.

Thoughts? Experiences?

No help from me. I started at 24 and stayed there till I discovered 36mg/ml.

If you feel you are addicted, a drop of 3mg every month or two sounds doable. Otherwise, I don't see any problem with nicotine at 18mg. In other words, I don't see it as harmful, in itself. For what it's worth, that's my opinion and I'm aware that others disagree.

Kinda depends on how much you vape tho, of course. At 6ml a day I was able to drop down to 3mg in about 8mths.
    That's starting @ 24mg and being a 30 aday smoker for 35yrs.
After the few weeks it took to put the last few to rest, I've never had a real urge to smoke again.
After every 3mg drop it took a few days to adjust, but was fine.

I prefer to count not concentration of nic in juice but daily dosage of juice. If you reduce concentration for 18 to 9 mg/ml and increase juice consumption from 5 to 10 ml, you still have the same amount of nic daily, 90 mg.

I have reduced my dose of nic from 100 to 40 in 1.5 years. Not too much, but...

Good point AT. I'll keep the 18mg level for a couple of months, just so I get the feel for how much I vape daily (i've only been vaping three weeks). I currently estimate I vape about 3.5 to 4.0 ml per day. I'll bring down my nic level by 3mg (to 15mg) in a couple of months and see if my intake increases to compensate.

It seems that we are at the same point since I've been in vaping for 4-weeks starting at 24mg/ml juice. I swished to 18mg/ml after 2-weeks and found the vaping smoother but my volume consumption went proportionally higher. So I went back to 24 and forward to 18 the same day (24 first half of the day, 18 mixed with the 24 leftover in tank the second half) for the last 2-weeks, trying to progressively the total volume that I vap without been too hard on me to keep the pleasure on. I am thinking that the jump down by 6mg is to much for me I am swiching to 3mg/ml jumps with my current strategy as follow:

    - Got 20ml of my flavor @18mg/ml x2
    - Got 20ml of my flavor @12mg/ml x2
    - Mixed 1x20ml of 18 with 1x20ml of 12mg/ml, which make the same flavor @ 15mg/ml(dilution been 2: 18/2 +12/2=9+6=15mg/ml.)

So I'm on full 18 now, and I will start alternating with the made 15mg/ml. Once my 18 is gone I'll be full on 15mg/ml for a while and start alternating with 12. I believe that I will succeed using the same strategy from 12 to 9 (50% of 12 + 50% of 6 = 9mg/ml) to 6mg/ml then 6/4.5/3 then 3/1.5/0. I may take awhile but it's quite progressive. I may have to adapt to higher volume at each transition if required. Also, keep in mind that nicotine might not be as addictive as we think. Finally, the newer gears provide a better flexibilty regarding nicotine absorption.

I don't know if that's a good strategy. It makes sens to me but any feedback would be welcome.

I've been vaping for around 8ish months. Within the first 2 months, I had gone from 24mg nic all the way down to 3mg. An now I vape between 3mg and 0mg nic depending on the device. On my drippers I use 0mg and in my tanks I use 3mg.
For me, I end up vaping a lot and my devices guzzle juice. So trying to vape at 24mg nic, i'd end up feeling sick and started getting heart palpitations. Even cutting down from 24mg, I'd still experience the same. At 3mg/0mg I can vape to my hearts content and not have to worry about overdoing it.

At some point I hope to go to 0mg nic all around. Hopefully then I won't feel the compulsion to vape as much as I have been and I can just have it there for on a night if I want to relax. Kind of like some people smoke a cigar once in a while.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be as drastic as you, PD. The way I see it is that I've already taken a HUGE step just by getting off tobacco, and from what I understand, nicotine in and of itself isn't that bad in the levels we take them when vaping. So I'll take my time and enjoy the vaping experience and great flavors and slowly reduce the nic.

Same here. It will be two months this Friday without stogies. I went from 24 to 18 to 12 to 9mg thus far. I was getting dizzy/sick with the constant 24/18mg. So I began mixing downward. I am using more juice now but I also attribute that to using the RBA vs. Occ heads.

Kinda depends on how much you smoked tho. I was a PAD and a half smoker. I started on 28g nic which was a joke. Immediately reduced to 18mg and it was too harsh then went to 12mg...I hung there for months then 6mg for months then 3mg which is where I have been for about one year now. Ymmv but that was my trip. Good luck. Your body will tell you when you need more nic in the beginning. Listen to it. If you need more nic vape more nic. I prefer to vape more in general with less nic than to vape less with higher nic. The devices and gear you choose play an integral role in your whole process as well.

Sounds like a feasible goal but take your time and don't beat yourself up over it lol. I started at 24. And even had 36 for rough moments back in the day. I have been off and on smoker for two years and now I got a good setup. I'm down to 12mg now and will probably go to 9 on my next batch. Don't rush. You will cut down over time if you have your mind set on it. If you want to get down to 3 you could probably do it in a year or less. But that's up to you. I'm no expert

well. It depends on your device. RDA's and subohming will make it easier to step down.

I started at 12 , Moved down to 9 once in RDAs, Then I moved to 6 and stayed there for a while
Then I ordered once 4.5 mg.... until the next order was at 3... Im now at 3... and happy. Took me exactly a year... maybe 13 months.

I'm right there with you Justin. I'm at 12mg and hoping that by making my own juice I can taper down gradually. I'm trying to decide when to start lowering my nic. I tried 6mg and found myself going through more juice (I'm at ~2-3ml per day) so I think I tried too soon!

    That's what I did Kira.

I started at 18 mg and gradually lowered my nic from 18 mg -2 mg. A few days ago u made my first bottle of 1 mg nic. I hope to get to 0 nic sometime in November.

I started out at 24, and really had no plan to reduce my nicotine level. However, after a few months (3 or 4 IIRC?), I started buying some 18mg e-liquids just to throw into rotation to see how it would go. I did that a few times a year, now I buy 0 to 3 for dripping/higher power setups and 6 for "regular" vaping.
